The Wyndham Hotel Corporation was founded in 1981 by Trammell Crow in Dallas, Tx. Its first hotel was opened in 1982 and by 1985 they had successfully held 14 upscale properties in their portfolio. Wyndham continued to grow throughout the years until in 1997 they agreed to be acquired by Patriot American Hospitality Inc., under a Real Estate Investment Trust or REIT. After the acquisition, they began an aggressive campaign to purchase several smaller companies to increase their holdings. Some of those companies included Williams Hospitality, Carefree Hospitality, and Summerfield Suites. Due to these major acquisitions, Wyndham experience an eruption in growth and profit, but that would become short lived. The REIT structure was going under increased pressure federal regulators as well as several of Wyndham’s competitors. They claimed that under the REIT structure, companies were receiving an unfair advantage over premiums for both lodging properties and real estate. In light of this information, their stock value began to decrease significantly and had lost over 80% of its value. For several years Wyndham struggled to pay down its debt and was forced to lose it REIT status and turn into a C-Corporation under the new title Wyndham International Corporation. The next several years involved major changes and IT incorporation in a process to restructure the company.

History of Hilton hotel has been very interesting as it started as Mobley Hotel in year 1919 a small building. Because, when the company started it had no plans or ideas of expanding, the sole purpose was to serve as a place for the travelers to stay where they can comfortably enjoy a night or few and carry on towards their journey. After twenty-seven years of business and hard work, this small hotel went nationally in eleven states within United States, known as Hilton. Currently they have four thousand worldwide properties, either directly owned or franchised (including third party), in seventy-eight countries. Hilton even though allows franchises but there policies remain the same and direct Hilton officials do all the upper level management. The company name Hilton understands for Hosp...

Facilities at the Tumbleweed Inn included a restaurant (the Eatery), a small gift, and essentials shop, and an outdoor pool. The restaurant was not fancy, so it was suitable for family dining in the evening without worrying about dressing too informally. The little shop was convenient for guests who had forgotten to pack something, and proved extremely useful to the tornado victims who stayed, and needs supplies. The best part of the Tumble Inn, according to Jessie, Megan, and Jay J, was the swimming pool. The outdoor pool opened for swimming in May and remained open until mid-September. Swimming provided hours of entertainment to the children who lived in the hotel after the tornado.

The location of a business is one of the most important critical success factors. In the right location, where competitors are not fulfilling all customer needs, a hotel can thrive. However, in a neighborhood that has heavy competition from existing hotels, success may not be so forthcoming. The architectural structure was designed to occupy a minimum of two acres. After months of searching, an ideal three acre lot was found and acquired for the new construction of Westwood Suites. The physical address is 5450 Meridian Mark Rd, Atlanta, GA 30342. Zoning ordinances were checked to make sure a hotel was allowed and the business was not going against any regulations. We felt secure and safe with the neighborhood and surrounding facilities in this location and there are many new developments coming to the area. The location is easily accessible for customers as well as suppliers. The hotel will be located in close proximity to our local crucial

Amenities, location, packages, rates, special offers - just a few of the many factors that are considered when choosing the functions of a hotel. I was very curious to see how different types of hotels differ in what they offer, how they offer it, and where they offer it. These services are extremely significant because they are what define a hotel. They define what type of guests they are targeting, what type of hotel they want to be perceived as, and what level of service they want to deliver to their guests. The impression of the hotel left on the guest is essential for the success of the hotel. The idea of adding amenities to keep up with competition or getting creative with services offered is not new. The Journal of Retail & Leisure Property mentioned that starting in the 1970’s, “hotels and resorts tried to gain market share from their competitors by increasing amenities in the guest rooms.” The services and amenities have always been a factor when deciding what approach to take when trying to find the most success. By comparing an average 2-3 star hotel with a 5-star hotel, I was able to gain a better understanding of the different services offered in hotels and the different expectations that certain guests have in their stay.
“A hotel defined as an “inn” has an obligation to accept bona fide travellers who appear able and willing to pay a reasonable sum for the services and facilities provided, and who are in a fit state to be received.”
The hotel we were staying in was Hampton Inn. Using the hotel key was kind of troublesome at first but that didn’t matter. When we got in to the room, it looked reasonably tidy and well-kept although, there were some minor issues. First, I noticed there was a stain that was on the curtain. And second, the box of tissues in the bathroom was wet. These issues weren’t too major but they are some things to look out for.
