Golden Retriever
Affectionately known as a Yellow Retriever or a Golden, is one of the most probable family dogs as it is easy to handle, tolerant and does not require very much care from the owner. Regular exercise, food and check-ups are the thing to be taken care by owner. It is a sporting breed known for its quick reflexes as hunting, trusting expression and trainability.
History
Golden Retriever was called Russian retriever or Russian tracker because of the legend that Russian sheepdogs from a traveling circus were ancestors of this breed. They were very loving, reliable and trust worthy. Lord Tweedmouth and Dudley Majoribanks are largely credited with developing the modern breed in late 19th century in Great Britain.
Appearance
The golden retriever has a lustrous golden coat which is dense, feathery, wavy, and water-repellent. It has skull which is rounded and intelligent eyes which are deep-set and quite gloomy. The ears are short which flop forward and lie close to the cheek.
Males weighs about 65 to 75 pounds and are 23 to 24 inches tall. Females of this breed are generally 21.5 to 22.5 inches tall and weigh from 55 to 65 pounds. Golden Retrievers usually gets mature at age of two and reach their full height by one year of age.
Personality
Golden Retrievers are one of the finest family dogs in the world with trustworthy, demonstrative, cheerful with everyone, and exonerating nature due to mistakes made by amateur owners. They make great comrade for families with children because they love to play fetch, chase, and even hide and seek.
