This is also one way for Thai students to have a strong friendship after they graduate. However, American school is more enjoyable because students get into different room and meet different people. After one lesson over, students are in rush to other room. They go to their teacher rather than their teacher come to
Growing up in the American education system, I always took my education for granted. My mother would always say, “You know how much people would want to be in your place and go to school?” In Chinese culture, education is the only way to achieve upward social mobility and leave the poor social economic class; whether you are rich or poor, you must have education and go to school. Education is not equal for everyone so how can one play the game when it is set up against you. Education is based on the resources that are offered in the area, thus if you live in a poor area, you get fewer resources. When the One Child policy was passed, it helped because all the family’s resources are focused on one child but the child is the only one to take care
The Asian American history is the history of the ethnic and racial groups in the United States who are of Asian descent. Spickard (2007) shows that the "'Asian American' was an idea created in the 1960s to bring together the Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino Americans for a strategic and political purposes.
Keep in mind that this is a very general overview. There are many different cultures within Asia and they are all different. Asian students are very culturally diverse, and an effort should be made to learn about their individual characteristics and cultural background.
...nts to feel more comfortable discussing academics and make friends in a way more geared to school than American children. In short, although the U.S. education system is superior to most, there are many things that if taken from the Japanese and incorporated into our system, would help our students to become more enthusiastic about school; thus making the education experience more positive and more productive.
Eighty-six percent of public schools in the United States operate on a traditional school calendar, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. Although you can receive the same education at a year round school that you can at a traditional school, traditional schools are better. They are better because traditional schools educate all students, have access to government funds, and have qualified teachers.
In United States, educational system is planned based on levels such as elementary school is from first grade to sixth grades, middle school is from seventh grades to eighth grades, and high school is from ninth grades to twelfth grades and four years in university and grades schools are based on a single shift and mostly free. While in Ethiopia school system is divided to primary school which is class one to class six, junior secondary school is junior secondary school (JSS) one to three, and senior secondary school (SSS) one to four and the school operates on the two shift bases and is not free because of outnumber of students in the school system. In the United States, teaching and learning process utilizes interactive instruction methods such as discussions, teamwork activities, and community service projects to elicit imaginative thinking, problem solving and decision making toward a goal of meaningful insight which is a key factor to help student succeed while the teaching and learning process in Ethiopia school system is to complete the syllabus since there is no chance for interactive process and at the end you found out that student can be college graduates but find it difficult to read a middle school level text book. With this plan of the school curriculum in the American educational system, the best quality training will brining students ' to ultimate success in life, and the curriculum places great importance on this principle. As for student progress, they are given increasing autonomy in the direction of their work, but also encourage how to work cooperatively with others. In Japanese schools, from elementary schools to universities, teachers direct what students should do or how they should be. Students follow the school rules and the directions of teachers. In American schools, on the other hand, students have to be more independent than Japanese students in many ways. Because of differences between Japanese and American schools, Japanese students who begin to study in an American school are shocked, and they take a pretty long time to adjust themselves to the way of American schools. Differences between schools in the two countries are seen in classrooms and during classes: the style of lectures, the relationship between student and teachers, and the style of examinations.
The students in Canada are responsible for their own work, and they are not shamed upon like in India or punished in front of their classmates for not being successful. The approach in Canada is very formal as the student can get support for areas that they are struggling with. The approach is very open as students have many options on how to achieve success by studying hard and getting extra help. Also, any students that misbehave in some cases may get detention. In Detention, the student will learn why he or she did something bad and was wrong to do so, as the teacher usually makes them write and reflect on what they have just done. This approach to discipline motivates and gives students an open approach to achieve
In my point of view, America is the world’s greatest country which gives the best opportunity to people to build their future. Many people come to America from all over the world because there is a better opportunity than in their own country. Many wealthy people from other countries spend so much money to send their child to the US for a better education. Therefore, America has been given a great chance to help international students to get their education.
Rybak: In a Chinese school the day is much longer than an American school day. This means that Chinese students spend a lot more time in school which brings us to the conclusion that Chinese are more advantaged than the American students in long run. This prepares them for college or even the young adult to be bio-lingual. Most American students usually attend school for seven hours each weekday and may forget what they have learned because it is instilled into the young adults’ heads like the Chinese do with their students.
Through memories, experiences and video documentation (by my parents), I could say without hesitation that, mostly in Asian regions, dictatorial and traditional approach to educations were, and still is, the norms. To educators in my birth-country of
Contrary to popular belief, corporal punishment is still an accepted form of punishment in some countries. In these countries, many see this kind of punishment for children as normal, natural and harmless. Yet, human rights activists believe that it is damaging and must be stopped. For example, Gambian teachers are working to end corporal punishment. The Gambia Teachers' Union has been training teachers on alternative...
...iplining a child are similar among all of the different ethnicities and cultures. It is most likely because of the socially accepted norm of how to discipline a child. Americans socially accept spanking, punishment, or grounding as methods of discipline. So in turn, these are the methods inhabitants of America choose to discipline their child. Disciplining can be considered as child abuse, but only if the discipline involves beating and verbally abusing the child. Although the methods of disciplining the child are similar, the disciplinarian of the household may differ. The parent who takes on the role of the disciplinarian could change the way they discipline their child. The gender of the parent also could affect how the child is disciplined.
Secondly, corporal punishment in schools should not be permitted is because it can lead to harmful effects in a student’s health.
