According to UNESCO, “citizenship education describes courses that educate people on recognizing, analyzing and investigating issues in their communities. These courses foster active citizenship in order to promote sustainable societies.” In addition Wikipedia notes that, “citizenship education also involves programs that apply to immigrants who strive to become citizens.”
The parents and families play a pivotal role in the development of citizenship education. However the schools and other educational organizations help to produce and motivate responsible learners to relate positively to each other to staff and the surrounding communities. It is the incompetence to participate in society for the reason of lack of resources. Poverty happens everywhere, however, in Jamaica poverty has been on the increase. Many persons are living below the poverty line. Some person can only finance themselves by finding their necessities while on the other hand others are unable to provide the necessities which they need for themselves.
