According to the video on the link Social movement seems to be easy to define, but when you think about it you start to see that there is more complication and difficulty to the definition hence there are so many different types of definition. Social movements try to be organized and sustained so that a riot doesn’t constitutes. Also movements aim at social changes, personal changes, cultural changes. Social movement depends on people banding themselves in great numbers to advance their causes. The goal is to represent themselves in a democracy by showing that they have large numbers of followers.
I choose “Black lives matter” as my social movement of choice. The reason I would say Black lives matter is because they are a large group of people which focus on social issues which in this case is to protest injustice and raise public awareness to African-American people. Also “black lives matter” has failed to define its purpose, clearly articulate their goals and find a common ground with establishment groups or even agree on its structure all but condemned occupy wall street to political irrelevance.

Black American people felt dissatisfied from the killing of African-American people by White police officers, racial profiling, police brutality and racial inequalities in the United states criminal justice system. Black lives matter has moved on to the Coalescence stage they now have a clearly defined sense of discontent. At this stage black lives matter becomes known to the public.
