To me, I feel like I am an overachieving student who always tries his best when it comes to studying, completing homework/assignments, and examinations. However, like many students who dedicate their time towards school, there are still many ways for us to improve on so we can become even better.
The biggest problem that I have which prevents me from being successful in school are my organization skills, which are rather lacking -- I often have trouble finding assignments/tests that I need to look over. One reason why I am disorganized is because I don’t place my notes/papers in the correct order – this happens all the time since I rarely put dates on my sheets. When I don’t by place handouts inside my binder once I receive these from my teacher(s); I tend to be careless and have this ideology that I can do this anytime. But once I get filled with workloads of assignments, it prevents me from having the time to organize my folders. Another reason why my binder is messy is because I keep sheets from previous years and once I place them with notes/tests/assignments from the current year; it makes it difficult to locate crucial papers that I currently need. My advice that I am going to give myself to improve on my organization

Anxiety. Regret. Frustration. Restlessly glancing at the clock, cringing every time I do. Staring at a blinking cursor, waiting for inspiration. Spending a restless night trying to squeeze out something to turn in the next day. This is a process known all too well by me, and most high schoolers in America, one known as: Procrastination. Procrastination is something easily avoided, and yet, seems to be one of the biggest causes for low grades in most students’ lives. It’s a tempting prospect, putting off your responsibilities to do something enjoyable, but it should be avoided at every possibility. Procrastination causes your grades to suffer, causes your mental health to suffer, and causes you to learn bad habits for the future.
I don’t dread going to class or doing my homework, the material is so interesting. I love my decision to pursue nursing and the overwhelming support I have I could not be more thankful, but I have learned I am not as organized as I once thought I was. I have a hard time with managing my time between school, studying, my family and friends. The stress I feel every time I go into a classroom to take a test, which is usually two or three time a week sometimes four, can be overwhelming, some days I feel like my heart is beating out of my chest with the worst anxiety I have ever felt.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, better known as ADHD, is a chronic condition affecting millions of children, and often persisting to adulthood. Individuals with this mental disorder face struggle with concentration, and controlling hyperactivity along with impulsive behaviour. It seems that more and more children are diagnosed with ADHD in ties with bad behaviour, and the inability to focus; however, ADHD is a real issue which can be too often looked past. Although treatment will not cure ADHD, treatment is a great option for many individuals, and studies show that medication such as Ritalin or Concerta, and behavioural interventions or therapy can help a great deal. ADHD can lessen with age and maturity, and treatment provides that extra push to deal with the symptoms. Many believe that medication and treatment is not the best approach for children with this illness; yet in most cases, medication and treatment is a beneficial tool which eases the individual of difficulty with focus or concentration, resulting in improvements with social behaviour, academics, and lifestyle.
The fastest growing form of communication in America’s society is texting. David Mercer brings up a valid argument about how the appearance of texting was not a slow process, parents never had an opportunity to experience texting so they have no way of teaching their children how to use it responsibly (Carter). Texting is so common it carries over into our everyday lives easily and at times becomes controlling. America’s society thrives on the conveniences texting provides us. While texting is fast and convenient it has numerous faults that affect our society mentally and socially. Texting can be beneficial as it simplifies our lives at times; however, there are numerous negative effects texting has on our society.
Most people nowadays know about psychological disorders such as ADHD, autism, and asperger syndrome, yet most people have found out by people close to them and yet they do not realize that psychological disorders are a rising issue. In this research project I will explain how ADHD is a rising problem.
Among adolescents and teenagers lack of sleep has become an epidemic. Teenagers believe that sleep is expendable when, in reality, it is extremely important for teens to receive sufficient sleep. Alexandra Robbins argues in her book, The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids, that teenagers are willing to sacrifice sleep for success and that this way of thinking is harmful to adolescent development. It is because of this way of thinking and the negative effect it has, that the start time of high schools should be pushed back. Through evidence provided by Robbins and an outside source, it can be asserted that the start time of high schools should be pushed back.
If you’re going to choose to stay in school, you might want to keep track of all your papers while you’re at it. If you don’t stay organized, you’ll lose your paper and get an F. A specific strategy that I used to overcome my obstacle to my success in college is to manage my time. Throughout the course I learned that it is very important to manage my time, or have my stuff in order. Not managing my time can result to not having time to study for tests, to do my homework, and even for some extra help. two tips on how to manage my time is to not overload myself with too many classes and not work a lot if I am a full time student
I find myself rushing at the last minute to complete my assignments and do my homework without being ready to do them physically and morally. I also find my self forgetting what I have to do , missing deadlines, putting some unrealistic goals, worrying about an exam if I don’t prepare for it. I often waste my energy on less important tasks; consequently, I fail to complete successfully the more important ones. I sleep very late then I don’t have enough hours to sleep ,so I cant wake up freshly ,therefore I come not following normally my courses, concentrating ,and focusing on my works. I am easily distracted by my gadgets and other external tendencies.
When it comes to school, I have always been an “A” only student. I am slightly obsessed with my grades, and I have never had a “B” in my life. Originally, this pressure was put on by my parents, but now I am self-driven and I do not allow myself to have anything lower than an “A-”. This has caused me to stress over papers I could not find in order to turn in, and that has affected my grades.
