Operational Barriers to Success Starting a business and thriving in that industry in today’s society can be arduous but rewarding simultaneously. There are many obstacles and attributes that can hinder a business from being successful. Companies in every industry have experienced challenges that they have had to overcome to consistently contend with top competitors. An organization can identify barriers early on to be able to adapt and overcome the challenges. What are barriers that organizations face? Barriers are anything that can stop a business or organization from becoming successful. Many companies and organizations identify these barriers and improve capabilities rather than implementing organization restructuring (Wyner, 2004). Restructuring can be a timely and cost effective measure to handle barriers; instead one should focus on the activities of the organization to find ways to work around barriers (Wyner, 2004). For example, understanding customer needs, customer acquisition and management, and product development are all efficient processes to identify barriers within a business (Wyner, 2004). Organizations can use surveys as a way to identify operational barriers. Moore states, “Their extensive ‘Making Change Work Study’ quizzed over 1,500 project leaders, sponsors, project managers and change managers from many of the world’s leading organizations, ranging from small to very large in size” (2009). Surveys such as the ‘Making Change Work Study’ serve to research management change practices covering small and large projects being implemented (Moore, 2009). In today’s society and economy, businesses worldwide must be able to adapt to change and adapt successfully to sustain competitive advantage (Moore, 2009). Managing barrier activities consist of an audit of rules and practices which exposes barriers that hinder the business from succeeding, rather than restructuring the organization performance systems (Rieger, 2011). Although removing barriers is a daunting task, once the barriers have been conquered it is a true sign of success (Rieger, 2011). Organizations in every industry face operational barriers at some level in order to obtain success. These barriers among many others cannot be ignored, as they can affect not only the operations in a company, but also the reputation that consumers perceive of that company. It is vital to identify barriers and work to overcome them to truly succeed and maintain a competitive advantage.
In When Success Leads to Failure, Jessica Lahey is faced with a tough situation involving a student, whose love for learning is fading, and a parent who does not seem to understand why. Lahey establishes that parents are starting to teach children to fear failure, and the fear is what is destroying their love for learning (Lahey). I support Lahey’s proposition that kids are beginning to hate learning because children are taught that failure is not an option. In today’s society, many teachers and especially parents push children to only strive for success and to fear failure, which results in many children’s growing hatred for learning.
Theses quotes might be said once or many times in one’s teen life. Complaining about parents is one of the conversation topics among the peers. Sometimes teens feel like adults do not aware of their opinions anymore. Moreover, arguments among the family could ruin the relationship if members do not know how to deal with it. I learned how to solve problems through these conflicts and became more mature.
Access to health services plays an imperative role in preventing disease, promoting and maintaining the wellness of an individual. As an individual it can be difficult to promote health when there is a lack of access to insurance coverage, managed time of care, and health services availability. To maintain and to have unlimited access to health services requires the influence of money. Funding influences every aspect health care. Without funding patients are often face with barriers such as structural barriers, financial barriers, and personal barriers. Changing situations throughout the world affect all organizations in business today. Therefore, most organizations acknowledge the need to experience change and transformation in order to survive. The key challenges companies face are due to the advancements in technology, the social environment caused by globalization, the pace of competition, and the demands regarding customer expectations. It is difficult to overcome the obstacles involved with change despite all the articles, books, and publications devoted to the topic. People are naturally resistant to fundamental changes and often intimidated by the process; the old traditional patterns and methods are no longer effective.
Success, it can be interpreted in many ways to different people. According to Google success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, for me success is that amazing feeling you obtain when you know you’ve completed something you’ve been working so hard for. Self-esteem is the main key to reaching success and is necessary to even get started on your way to triumph. Self-esteem is important because it develops problem-solving skills, makes someone feel confident enough to do anything, and also because it can make someone feel insecure enough to stop them from succeeding.
It is a very well-known fact that there is a fine line between education and success. Success is a word that is very loosely defined, but is normally associated with education in a very simplistic way. In most cases, people put success and education in the same sentence with the traditional association of attending a college or university, graduating with a degree and moving forward with a career choice. But what happens when education and success are associated in a different, much more complex way? What happens when there is a negative association between education and success?

Fear. A word that has controlled my entire life. I would not be able to move faster than possible, fight harder than possible, or think harder than possible without the most powerful impulse of the human spirit, fear. If you asked me three years ago if I’m scared of success, I would simply tell you no. I wasn’t afraid because I had no clue what it took to be successful. I believed things were going to be handed to me, so my desire to achieve something was blocked by stubbornness. As of now, I fear success. Behind every fear, is a person that I want to be. Fear either creates you, or it destroys you. Personally, it has made me into the man I am today, someone who turns that fear into a whole new monster called hard work. It pushes me to create
I believe that hard work is the real treasure of a person because without hard work we cannot achieve our dreams and goals in life. No one can achieve success without doing hard work. It starts when we stop looking for alternatives or shortcuts towards success. We need to remember that there are no short cuts to success. Hard work, complimented with an intense desire to struggle and to achieve success is the only sure way of reaching success that you have always wanted. Hard work is one of the secret for us to be successful in life. Laziness and sluggishness makes one’s life a curse and only hard work can make your life a blessing. We cannot work hard if we don’t have goals. The meaning of goal according to Wikipedia is a desired result of a
It is apparent that the only thing constant in business is change. Organizational change is often an overwhelming challenge for business leaders, managers and employees alike. The need for change may be the result of market shifts, economic environment, technology advancements or changing work force skill-set demands. Today Organizational change occurs for reasons that originate external to the organization (Chandler, 1996: Hannan & Freeman, 1984), as well as internal to the organization (Baker 1990: Prechel 1994). Thus, External constraints, internal constraints, resource dependency and increasingly growing competitive markets force organizations to change in order to maximize economic potential. Although organizational changes are usually a response in reaction to an event, companies and leaders should still expect to encounter issues. Organizations need to be more proactive and contingent on how to handle the problems that will inevitably come about. This will make the process of organizational change go smoothly as well as reduce resistance through proper management techniques. Resource dependency argues that both environmental and organizational constraints impact organizational change (Pfeffer & Salancik, 2003).
“The failure is the mother of success” this Chinese quote said that failure is not the end. Failure is where people learn from their mistake. People cannot be successful all the time. Indeed, there are many people who learned from their failures before being successful. Each failure that people had met is a helpful lesson and valuable experience to help them become a better person.
