There are many aspects of school that can be quite satisfying and enjoyable; whereas, there are other elements that can be quite dissatisfying or disappointing. More often, I find that there are more satisfying and enjoyable experiences in school that make up for the bad ones. When I receive good grades, I feel satisfied because my hard work and effort has paid off. I also see good grades as the pathway to completing my business degree. I derive great satisfaction from good class discussions and people who respect my thoughts. It is very gratifying when a person can gain greater insight into a particular subject through engagement in class. The only resolution is to talk to the teacher about the specific concern. If they fail to resolve this problem, then the next step would be to speak with his or her superior and explain the issue to them. Eventually, someone is going to get through to that instructor and explain why favoring students is unacceptable. This method seems like it would be the best way to decrease dissatisfaction in a classroom where favoritism exists. When a teacher gives a bad grade in return for great effort it feels as though they did not acknowledge the time spent on the assignment. This can leave a person feeling very discouraged and dissatisfied with their own work. In order to decrease dissatisfaction, it would be useful for the instructor to explain via feedback what was done wrong on the assignment and how to correct it. A bad grade by itself does not teach a student anything to help them grow but instead it can discourage or upset them in many cases. There are instances where a bad grade may be a wake-up call to take education seriously, but in this situation constructive criticism should be given in return.
People who work hard for their goals experience true happiness. True happiness is the feeling you get when you try to complete your ultimate aim in life. People in the pursuit of education experience this greatly because they are striving to pass their classes to succeed academically. Anthony writes, “No doubt some of the experience I have in my relationships are part of what is good about them, part of what makes the relationship contribute to my flourishing, to what is good in my life” (Kwame Anthony Appiah 450). The experience, he feels during a relationship is what makes him happy in life not the relationship itself. This is similar to how education experience works because many people enjoy the hard work they put into their academics rather than the grades they receive. Dewey believed that education was a way for someone to complete their goal in life. He states, “If a few words are added upon the topic of education, it is only for the sake of suggesting that the educative process is all one with moral process, since the latter is a continuous passage of experience from worse to better” (John Dewey 401). Dewey is explaining that the experience of education allows people to develop their moral process and happiness. Dewey’s ideas on education combined with Anthony’s views on happiness support the idea that one’s experience in education directly influences their happiness. In short, the pursuit of education is an
...use of this issue. Even I prefer learning for my own pleasure over school work, but this competition is what molds students into high-achieving individuals. Having to work up to a deadline, conducting research, and collaborating with peers for group projects are all necessary tasks in the "real world". It is true that success can be achieved without school, but school is only one of the many pathways an individual can choose in order to become educated. School provides students with the ability to strive in the real word by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed. When asked what I am studying for, I can say that I am studying to become someone who can make a difference. I may not enjoy the stress and anxiety that comes with school, but I cherish the fact that school is providing me with the knowledge and skills I need to further my dreams.

Through most of my time in high school, I always found myself writing more of exploratory writing for two simple reasons; it took a shorter amount of time, and relating writing to my personal experiences was something I had no need to look up. Exploratory writing is a time to take advantage to relate your own personal experiences and an attempt to make a connection with a certain reading. The experiences you have will not be exactly the same as you’re classmate and might be very enjoyable to read. Lamott and Hairston both use explanatory and exploratory writing in their essays by explaining the techniques of what good writers do and applying their own personal experiences. By applying both explanatory and exploratory in their essay they are able to provide the reader with new ideas they can adopt to improve their writing skills.
At the outset of the selected topic concerning Motivation and Satisfaction, it is imperative to clarify and elucidate what both these terms – Motivation; and Satisfaction– actually mean and connote in the psychological framework.

Based on my definition of success and the steps I have taken to achieve success, I am a successful student. Being a successful student, I understand that a great deal of effort and dedication contributes towards having a rewarding outcome. It is also understandable that students must make many sacrifices in order to gain satisfactory results; connecting with others and maintaining a social life adds onto attaining success. For instance, there was a moment before winter break where I became extremely overwhelmed by all the assignments, and the only thing that relieved me from having a nervous breakdown was to unwind with my friends and discuss my problems. There were also many other times that I was stressed and lost sleep over completing assignments to the point of perfection, but eventually I noticed the importance of being a well-rounded student through socializing. I realized that a balanced lifestyle helped me achieve my objective while also relishing on other attributes. Being able to adapt to different things permitted me to focus on academics while taking account of my personal struggles; this allowed me to get contentment with myself and those around me. In life, it certainly seems that for most people, happiness is the end goal. People do what they do for many reasons, but quite often their motives are simply fueled by their desire to be happy. However, happiness is attained in many different ways. As Aristotle points out, happiness is achieved through goodness, which is also very complicated. After all, life is not black and white, and our actions are not just good or bad. Rather, our actions can have ends that are intrinsically good or instrumentally good. If they are instrumentally good, then they will allow us to attain something that we can "trade" for something else that will bring us happiness. For example, if we win tickets at an arcade, they would be considered instrumentally good because although they don't bring us happiness, we can trade them in for a prize that does. On the other hand, some things are intrinsically good. We want these things simply because we want them; they bring us pleasure or security. When we obtain these things, we are satisfied with them and we experience happiness.

Everyone starts experiencing emotions pretty much from the day of birth; as a person grows up with their family every single day they become more experienced and have more emotions that can help create and form their lifestyle. One of the biggest problems with education is that it is poisoned in the way people view school. Some common phrases among students are that ?school is boring; school is work.? Theses attitudes have a direct effect on the effort that students put into their studies. One will obviously work harder when they aren?t bored with the task. There is a difference between hearing and listening and if students approach school as something that they see as boring and stressful than that student will only be hearing what the professor is saying. They may show up to class but this does not mean that they are necessarily there to learn. If school were fun than students would enjoy learning and thus, would learn more since it would be an enjoyable activity. School is just like a sport or a book in that if the book is well written and enjoyable than there is more incentive to read it, just as someone will put more effort into a sport that is fun than a sport they don?t enjoy. If school were fun, than students would strive to learn more.
For the purpose of this paper I will be describing a personal life experience and I will be applying concepts from the texts to best describe the event. I was born here in the United States (US) but, I was raised in the Dominican Republic (DR). I lived in the DR basically my entire life, I would only come to the US for vacation during summer. It was not until I turned 12 that I decided to move back to the US to continue my studies and learn the language. So I did, I moved with my uncle and his wife on the summer of 2009. At the time, they resided in the Mayfair area of Philadelphia, PA. I do not think that everyone fits in one hundred percent of the time. I think there are times that we all feel out of the loop, and there are times when we feel like we do not belong. Whether we like it or not, those moments can change us and shape us. I have had times like this in my life too. One of these instances that is still affecting me to this very day has become even more prevalent in the past few months. This experience I am having has changed the way I think, act, and feel about the world surrounding me.
Having explained the reason most children have become disheartened at the thought of school, I now turn my attention to the students who do realize school’s educational value. These are the students that will continue to prosper throughout their lives because they realize the extreme importance of education.
