Mechanical Engineering Career
Mechanical Engineering has become one of the fastest growing career fields ever, due to our extremely technology based society. This field has been expanding to incorporate many specific parts of mechanical engineering. With this rapidly developing field in engineering, it would be nice to look back at the roots of how this career came to be. Also, this career paper will consist of the qualifications required to become a mechanical engineer and about how I qualify for the job.
Mechanical Engineering is a subset of engineering that applies: principles of engineering, physics, materials science, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It involves the production and usage of mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. As one of the oldest groups of engineering, it made its voyage to the United States in the 1840’s. This was due to the expansion of the United States Navy and its academy. The engineering program began to explode after 1874 as it was then considered to be a two or four year education. That same year Mechanical Engineering became the first course offered for this field. The Naval Academy received accreditation as an "approved technological institution" in 1930. In 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt signed into law an act of Congress providing for the Bachelor of Science Degree for the Naval, Military, and Coast Guard Academies (Brownell). The class of 1933 was the first to receive a degree in mechanical engineering and have it inscribed in their diploma. Later on, the engineering majors program began with the Class of 1972 being the first class required to complete a major to graduate. The first designated engineering degre...

...lopment. Also, I just recently received my eagle scout rank. Becoming an eagle scout is a big deal on the way up the ranks your learn most of the basic problem solving and leadership skills required to become a mechanical engineer. I’m currently part of BPA or Business Professionals of America, competing in the computer modeling division. Though this program I recently received a award for being one of the top ten in the nation for computer modeling. To follow my dream of becoming a mechanical engineer, I plan on going to Michigan Technical University to receive a masters degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on manufacturing and industrial systems. With these current and future qualifications, I believe that in the future I will be a great mechanical engineer for fortune 500 companies, either in Minnesota or all over the world.

In conclusion, schools should provide the opportunity for students to complete an automotive repair program. Ever since mass production of the model T ford, transportation has become essential in human civilization. The evolution in mechanics since 1917, continues to progress. As society relies on and leans toward technology, auto mechanics has become an important career field. The dependence on transportation in society’s daily lives makes auto mechanics a major priority. As technology continues to progress, the need for schools to educate students on auto mechanics is essential for America to remain competitive. Students equipped with this knowledge will be more likely to succeed in their nearby futures.
When reading “An Engineering Career: Only a Young Person’s Game?” by Robert N. Charette, we are able to grasp the meaning behind the half-life engineering knowledge and how it affects the general engineer in the workplace. Charette also provides other articles that will give tips on how to use lifelong learning to counter the effect of becoming obsolete in your knowledge.
Mechanical engineering is one of the largest and oldest divisions of engineering. Mechanical engineering is an important job in today’s world because; they can do various jobs ranging from manufacturing systems, physical science, to working on power systems. Mechanical engineering is a job that can take year’s education, it’s also a job in high demands for young engineers of today’s world.
One of the memories of my childhood I deeply cherish is that of my first visit to my father's small scale factory.Exploring the machinery which made my goal more easier and my dad sharing his experiences about the working of machines made me to grew up grossing my interest towards them. That was the time i chose to get into the field of mechanical. As a child, I was always intrigued by the working of complex mechanisms and equipment. I used to spend a lot of time trying to explore and figure out their principle. In school
The word engineer comes from the latin word ingeniare. ingeniare means construct or craftsmanship. Ever since the beginning of time we have had engineers. Engineering is the combination of math and science , solving world problems to help better the world around us. Being an engineer takes a lot of knowledge, creativity, and hard work. A typical engineer can clearly see a problem and is capable of fining a solution. A senior engineer or engineering manager usually doesnt do as much technical work, but usally lot of managing. Some of the first official engineers were military engineers. They were employed by the goverment to build such things as roads, bridges, and weapons. US mililary Academy at Westpoint was the first school to offer an education in enginnering. Engineering is a very broad field. Engineers are always at a high demand, we could never have enough brilliant minds making the world better. Engineers are needed everywhere. Engineering managers have to have a bachelor's degree or higher, they usually direct and seek solutions to problems and are sometimes called executi...
I am applying for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Solid Mechanics to expand on my study of and experience with materials. I have thoroughly enjoyed studying Materials Science and Engineering as an undergraduate at UCLA. I now look forward to moving into graduate study in a field of engineering with a related, but different perspective. Materials Science and Engineering has allowed me to explore both materials and other fields within engineering, contributing to my strong interest in combining my study of Materials Science and Engineering with Mechanical Engineering. I have completed basic coursework in most areas of engineering, learning statics, thermodynamics, basic programming, and circuit design. This has provided a strong foundation to continue graduate study in other engineering disciplines. I
When I look at how mankind has evolved over years, it amazes me. My career goal is to become a mechanical engineer. I aspire to become skilled enough to create mechanics, which will improve people’s lives. I come from a very hardworking family. As the first son,a lot is expected from me to set good examples for my younger brothers.
An ambition to learn and grow and having passion for engineering have prompted me to go in for graduate studies. Chasing my Dreams! While growing up at a young age I was always intrigued by objects that produced mechanical work and energy be it prime movers such as automobiles, construction and mining equipment, turbo machinery such as jet engines, space shuttles or complex mechanisms of mechanical watches, I used to spend a lot of time trying to learn and figure out their basis and propositions, it was necessary for me to explore my inner conscience to understand my fascination towards machines and their ingenuity, Mechanical engineering seemed a direct consequence of my convictions. I have always admired my father as a civil engineer and his hard work and struggles throughout his life; He has always been a role model for me. He motivated me to pursue my dreams so I decided to pursue my undergraduate study in Mechanical Engineering
It is the branch of engineering that mainly involves the design, production, and operation of machinery. Consequently, it is also one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines. The origin of mechanical engineering stems from the industrial revolution in Europe during the 18th century; however, its earliest development can be traced back several thousand years around the world. Mechanical engineering as a science however, emerged in the 19th century as a result of developments in the field of physics, which enabled further growth of the field as more research and tools emerged [3]. The main society involved with the field of Mechanical engineering is the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, also known as ASME. The main goal of ASME as an organization is to enable collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines. This includes the sub-branch of aeronautical engineering. They also maintain a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods. The origins the American Society of Mechanical Engineers can be found in 1880, started by a small group of leading industrialists. ASME has grown throughout the decades to include more than 140,000 members in
Everyone wants to be something from a doctor to a stylist, I want to be a mechanical engineer. This is something I have always wanted to do in my life, the opportunities that exist in this field can lead to anything. Mechanical engineers are able to do many tasks in the job environment from designing, to developing, and also building. In addition, as new companies are starting up they will need mechanical engineers to help them develop their product. All of the engineering fields have great pay, that is able to support my family and also my parents. In the work environment of a mechanical engineer, they usually are around an office and sometimes where their product is being used at. To be able to apply for a mechanical engineering job you
I want you to think back to what might be the greatest invention ever. Dependant upon how well you know your history you could possibly say the wheel, the car, the airplane, the television, the autonomous robot. All of these are great ideas that have different eras in history, but they all have something in common, these creations were all invented by engineers. Do not get the misconception that engineers have been around since the dawn of time but the concept of engineering itself has. Those great revolutionaries all had ideas and solved problems which are still qualities that engineers of this day and age use. Webster defines engineering as, “the work of designing and creating large structures or new products or systems by using scientific methods.” Those people created new products so they would today be considered engineers, but they are slightly different. What makes them different is the field that they would be considered a part of. The broadest one of the oldest forms is mechanical engineering, which is my future profession.
The world is always expanding and growing. Since the beginning of time, people have relied on buildings and roads to support them in some way. Whether they are complex or simple, they are necessary in everyday life. Society’s constant need for growth is what makes civil engineering a unique career path. The world would be under-developed and it would be difficult for today’s society to function without the technology and knowledge in this industry. When researching the career of civil engineering, it is important to detail the history, skills, and education and positive and negative aspects of the profession.
Mechanical engineering is a type of engineering which applies principles of physics and material science for the purpose of analyzing, designing, manufacturing and maintaining of mechanical systems (Gorp, 2005). It is involved with the production and usage of mechanical power in the operation of various machines and tools. Mechanical engineering is considered to be the most diverse engineering and has its breadth derived from the need to design tools and manufacture products which range from small individual parts to large systems. Mechanical engineering, as thought of by scholars, is related to Aerospace engineering, Manufacturing and Mechanical engineering (Van et al, 2011).
It has taken a very long time for me to decide on the path that I wanted to take for my career. I have almost always known that I wanted to be an engineer. I was always more interested in applying my knowledge to solve problems rather than just research and understand the world. However, I had little to no inkling as to which field of engineering I wanted to go in to. I had always been a dabbler, involving myself in a large variety of activities with the interest of learning about how stuff works. I started out learning how to use the tools in the shed outback, making pinewood derby cars and model rockets. I would help my dad with home improvement and repair projects around the house. As time went on, my ability learns and apply
My career plan is to go into mechanical engineering. A mechanical engineer is the person who designs and make machines like generators. Engineering is a difficult and competitive field. Engineering requires a bachelor's degree and a good understanding of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math). I would have to pass an engineering exam to get my license. Some school near me that offer the degree I want are Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan Tech, and Western Michigan.
