Should a man who sexually abused and tortured his girlfriend's kitten face only eighteen months of prison? People who commit these crimes usually face minimum time in jail and many times it does not even appear on their record. Animals are living creatures, therefore should not be harmed in not kind of way and especially not killed. Enforcing harsher penalties for animal abuse would show people that without diversities of animals, these species would become extinct, out food source would be limited in the future, and harm would continue to be done if penalties are not enacted.
Making the penalties more strict would show people that without diversities of animals these species would become extinct. “The brutality and senseless of the crime had conservation expert concerned that the most dangerous animal in the world had found yet another excuse to slaughter the creatures with whom we share the planet. “The area must be immediately secured”, said Deo Kujirakwinja of the Wildlife Conservation Society's Congo Program, “or we stand to lose an entire population of these endanger animals”,(Begley, Johnson, and Scelfo). This statement means, if humans do not stop abusing animals, like hunting them, would lead to serious problems in the future. Since today many people do not take this subject very seriously, as if it would be if it was happening to humans. “Human beings cause habitats loss by converting natural landscape to urban or agricultural landscaped and through pollution, mining, draining, and deforestation. Hunting can also drive species to extinction, as has occurred with several famous extinct species...” (Extinction and Extirpation).Animal cruelty does not necessarily have to do with the animal being physically torture. It ...

...less stringent and called for a felony charge on the second offense.” (Matthews). Currently these bills did not succeed because the felony was lowered even thought it might have been high. Lowering felonies can result of people not taking this bills seriously and the cruelty will still continue.
Enforcing penalties for animal abuse would show people that without diversities of animals these species would become extinct, our food source would be limited in the future, and harm would continue to be done if penalties are not enacted. Not enforcing harsher penalties leads people to keep on committing these crimes to many animals. These crimes lead to animal extinction where at one point in the future there will be limited food source. Lack of stricter penalties would also leas to animals habitats being destroyed among with the wilderness and other out doors resources.
Almost everyone knows about animal abuse, so why is there no difference to it? We may not see it, but though we say we love our animals, we often end up betraying them. We think that we are doing good, but in the end we control them, and steal their liberty. How far is too far?
Hunting accidents often injure or kill horses, cows, dogs, cats, hikers, and other hunters. Some hunters mistreat dogs just as the animals they hunt. Dogs who are used for hunting also suffer. They’re often kept chained or penned and denied routine veterinary care such as vaccines and heartworm medication. Some are lost during hunts and never found, and others who are turned loose at the end of hunting season to fend for themselves often die of starvation or get struck by vehicles. Also like other forms of thrilled violence, hunting leads to desensitization(make less sensitive) to the suffering and pain of others. “ A study conducted by Northeastern University and the Massachusetts SPCA found that people who abuse animals are five times more likely to commit violent crimes against humans. The majority of inmates who are scheduled to be executed for murder at California’s San Quentin State Prison “practiced” their crimes on animals, according to the warden.” So my opinion on hunting is that it’s bad but not everyone thinks like me and or care about animals the way that I
In today’s day and age, meat is one of the most common portions of a human meal. According to the Census statistics from 2009 and 2010, United States is amongst the leading meat producing as well as meat consuming countries in the world, especially in beef and chicken.1 On the contrary, there is no census on human meat because no one consumes it. Yet, human meat and horsemeat are the same because it is meat from a body that has the capability of suffering as Singer proposed.
What is animal cruelty? Why do animals mean so much to most people? Animal cruelty is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly, like not giving a dog or cat food and water. It's against the law to abuse animals but they don't have a punishment harsh enough for anybody that does that. Most cases of animal abuse is never reported and represented in most rural and urban areas. Animals mean so much to most people because most people would consider a pet more of a friend than just an animal. I’m against animal abuse, and I really think there should be a harsher penalty.
PETA states that, since before the 1920’s there has been animal experimentation. Not until President Lyndon Johnson signed the Laboratory Animal Welfare Act (LAWA) in 1966, animals in the United States had no protection in laboratories, circuses, and zoos over breeding, transportation, housing, feeding, and veterinary care. The LAWA is now called the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). (Williams, and DeMello)
There should be a penalty to harming an animal or keeping it in an uncomfortable environment. Is there a difference in harming a pet and animal experimentation? Because harming a pet and animal experimentation have different consequences. They both are harmful to animals and in most cases animal testing is more brutal and will cause more pain to the animals. Michael Walsh, a reporter for Yahoo news, stated that in May of 2016 Ohio passed a law that made it “a fifth-degree felony to knowingly harm a pet by inflicting pain or depriving it of food, water, or shelter.” He also states that “Under Ohio law, a fifth-degree felony is punishable by six to twelve months in jail and a $2,500 fine.” These laws make it so that it is okay to hurt, abuse, and deprive animals that are being tested on but not okay when done to animals that are used pets. The harmful treatment of animals, whether in a lab or in a home, should be punished in the same manner because hurting animals in any situation is wrong. Many people argue and say that testing on animals is different because it benefits humans. It tests if popular products are safe for everyone to use. Monkeys and mice are often used to test products. This is because the DNA of mice and monkeys are very similar to humans. It makes sense to test animals that closely related to humans because it can help people determine whether the product is
“There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep the animals so the workers would have to put them down (Carol Roach). Researchers have shown that the main animals getting abused are dogs, chickens, horses, and livestock (“Animal...
According to Animal Ethics, “A minority of people don’t have any concern for the way animals are treated and are not concerned even when animals are tortured pointlessly. A less extreme version of this view is shown by people who are opposed to torturing animals in some unusual ways or merely for the fun of it, yet don’t think it matters very much that animals suffer because of the way humans treat them as long as humans benefit from it.” This proves that humans shouldn’t neglect one species of animals just because it benefits them. Which there justifies why there should more action taken to give all animals better treatment instead of just one animal species. Some humans don’t believe they do this type of discrimination towards animals. Although not all people do this they may imply it in their actions like, for example with fish. A quote from Animal Ethics states, “For example, one can reject the use of dogs and cats for food (an acceptable practice in some countries) but accept the consumption of, say, chickens and fishes. This is also a form of speciesist discrimination, since all sentient animals have an interest in not being harmed regardless of the species to which they belong.” In the end though you may give more respect to all mammals more action should be taken to respect to all animals no matter if we use them as a resource for food or
An animal that attacks a human being should not be abolished. In any type of case in law, you always have to have justification and be fair, why can’t animals have it? Most animals attack when we attack them, it might have even been an accident.
According to Pet Finder, “People who commit even the most heinous crimes against animals are often not prosecuted to the full extent of the law. In states where animal cruelty is considered a misdemeanor, individuals who commit intentional cruelty crimes against animals can receive, at most one year in jail and 1,000 dollar fin. However, perpetrators often receive no more than probation.
The ugly truth is that animals are dying at the hands of their owners everyday, some in very violent ways that can be avoided given the right solution. Slaughterhouses, puppy mills, dog fighting, and so on, are just a few examples of how animals are being treated badly by people. Animal cruelty is a form of violence which, unfortunately, sometimes goes hand in hand with child abuse.... ... middle of paper ... ... Also, violence towards animals needs to be included in assessments for child protective services, in order to better prevent animals being placed in dangerous hands.
The abuse that animals endure at human hands is heartbreaking, sickening, and infuriating. Animals are just as delicate as humans, so why not abuse us too? Animal lives should be just important as ours. No animals should be killed or abused for testing, entertaining, clothing, or hoarding. Every year, millions of animals are being killed and torture for testing.
“Man is the highest rated animal, at least among all the animals who returned the questionnaire (Brault, 2009).” For years humans have been using animals for experimentation, food, clothing, sport and entertainment, manual labor, and let us not forget man’s best friend. The unethical treatment of animals can best be resolved by deontology contrasted with ethical egoism.
Should the torture of an innocent animal go unpunished? No, it should not; the real question is to what extent should the perpetrator be punished? The most basic definition of animal abuse is the intentional act of inflicting physical pain, suffering, or death on an animal; this includes monstrous neglect (the act of withholding food and water) that causes an animal to suffer, die, or be put in imminent danger of death. Currently, animal cruelty offenders are not punished to the extent that some believe they should be. Animal cruelty should receive mandatory jail time because the abuse towards an innocent animal is deemed inhumane and oftentimes is a precursor to violence against humans.
Animal abuse is a travesty in our world that must be stopped. Every year, millions of animals suffer because of human actions, directly or indirectly. Whether it’s abused dogs and cats or even mistreated circus animals, their suffering is as real as it would be if it happened to us. Even animals who are raised on farms simply for human consumption should not have to suffer. One of the worst parts of humanity’s role in animal abuse is that there are easy ways for people to help that they are either ignorant of or simply refuse to do. There are many examples of animals who are abused by humans, but there are also ways for people to help prevent and put an end to animal abuse.
