Emotionally based opinions are worthy of respect due to the fact that everyone should be able to signify their free expression without being criticized for what they believe. There is no need for criticism because even if someone's opinion is factually incorrect, in their state of mind, it is what they believe and they should be allowed to have their own perspectives. Everyone should be respected for thinking and believing differently. People form different opinions because their opinions are mostly based on emotion rather than logic. Opinions based on emotion may not be valid, but that does not make them irrelevant. Free expression is what allows us all to form an opinion on people, ideas, concepts, etc. Although our opinions are not factual, we should all still be respected by others, giving that it is what we think of and not what they think. I believe that emotionally based opinions are just as important than opinions that are formed on logic. Forming opinions that are based on emotion allows us to think more efficiently rather than forming an opinion on what you already know. We all form …show more content…
Not giving the respect people deserve just because they may not believe something others might, is abundantly rude. Being rude can lead to a possibility of problems to occur, that should not have even happened if everyone just accepted the different ways that different minds think and believe. For example, if there was a group that formed emotionally based opinions on a topic and another group that formed opinions on logic on the same topic, it would be unfair if one of the groups got disrespected for having a factually incorrect opinion. It is important that everyone gets an equal amount of respect no matter what their opinions are because in the end, it is just an opinion that should not concern anyone personally to the point where they feel like they can just disrespect
Respect is a such a simple concept and a virtue that should be simple to follow. It means treating other people and animals in a dignified manner. Respect doesn’t mean that people need to hug everyone they come across or hold their opinion higher than everyone elses. Respect means treating others as equals and acknowledging that as human
(Hawkins, 2015). Disrespect is not the absence nor necessarily the opposite of respect. For example, a person may demand respect through intimidation and fear, but that does not make the respect they receive positive. Or, a person may be respected for their
Should we let our emotions control us? Should we base our decisions on how we are feeling at a specific time? Perhaps emotion shouldn’t factor at all into our decisions. Some of the characters we have studied exhibit both sides of this question. Luther and Alice from the show Luther fall on opposite sides of the spectrum while Billy Budd takes a hybrid approach.
Respect to me is admiring someone for their abilities, qualities, or achievements. I think respect is always earned an can never be given. As soldiers soldiers we should always respect our peers because they have made the same sacrifice as us. But as soldiers we should have a higher level of respect for our NCOs because they have done their time an have earned it. Being respectful is not hard it is simple, just treat others the way we would like to be treated ourselves.
Without respect, intolerance will continue to exist. If we do not respect each other, we cannot hope to work together to build a pluralistic society. Continued intolerance will only result in people changing their beliefs and values in order to be accepted, much like how Christians have begun to change their faith and beliefs. The type of society where people are forced to change in order to be respected is unacceptable. We must work to reverse the trend of intolerance against the Christian before it develops into a more serious issue. As we do this though, we must examine all groups to ensure that something beneficial to one group does not cause something detrimental to another. While this is a difficult task to undertake, it is necessary if we are to ever develop a truly pluralistic society that is respectful of not only the Christian, but of everyone.
The majority of the time this is a simple gesture of respect towards a specific group of people or person, but sometimes it goes too far. Small groups of very vocal people have created a toxic new meaning for the word political correctness. This has tainted the word for many people who would like to be respectful. The simple words new meaning is less associated with showing respect or kindness and is now more related to an extreme group of people who believe anything hurtful is politically incorrect. This continuous campaign for censorship of speech could transfer over to the physical realm with people demanding no one be faster or stronger than anyone else. If no one was better than anyone else, this world would be very boring, restrictive, and terrible place to live, but it would never come to that,
Respect is a behavior that shows another person moral and ethical acceptance. Showing respect for another, even when not deserved, is considered to be a good sign of breeding in times past, but now as where society has changed, dissing "show disrespect for" has become more accepted, this behavior suggests a cultural shift from rewarding kindness and self-restraint to applauding a more open expression of hospitality through rudeness. Perhapes there is a lessening of concern over being respectable, along with an increased vigilance oto make sure one is respected.Concludeing that Civility must beging with the individual person making small sacraficiesfor others.
In conclusion respect is wrapped around our day to day lives. A famous philosopher once said “Respect is showing acknowledgement for some ones superiority in a certain field.” You can’t buy, demand, or force people to respect you but you can respect others in order for them to respect you. What people do not understand is that if we use common sense we would be respecting ourselves, respecting others, and respecting property all the time. Respecting yourself, others, and property might not be easy to do but it does have great rewards if you just do it.
An increasing percent of the population begins to know the idea of emotional intelligence. This concept was firstly developed by two American university professors, John Mayer and Peter Salovey (1990) and they concluded that, people with high emotional quotient are supposed to learn more quickly due to their abilities. Another psycologist named Daniel Goleman (1995) extended the theory and also made it well-known. In his articles and books, he argued that people with high emotional quotient do better than those with low emotional quotient. In this essay, it will be argued that high emotional intelligence can influence work performance positively to a relatively high extent. Both benefits and limitations of a high level of EI in the workplace will be discussed and a conclusion will be drawn at the end of this essay.
Would you be more inclined to talk to someone who respects you and your opinion but would still like to explain their take on the topic or someone who states their own opinion only, while dismissing everyone else ’s? You can relate these ideas almost anywhere. A government, a classroom, a home. All of these depend on respect and
Change leader, as a person, is the most important tools for change. According to Goleman (2000) and Haidar (2006), change leader is the person who ensure the process of the organization change is running in the right direction in order to lead and manage the changing and improvement within the organization effectively, and also, change leaders are also need to manage organization in crisis. Change leaders must be empowered to make the decision, to create and transmit the vision for the organization change, and also need to overcome the resistance issues, resolve confusions and concerns during the change. Besides, Dinwoodie, Pasmore, Quinn & Rabin(2015) and Sidra, Zuhair, Norman & Sajid (2012) suggest that during the changing process of the
I believe that everyone is entitled to have their own opinion on every subject; but I also believe that there are some subjects that everyone needs to look at from different perspectives. There are so many different
From the moment they wake up, people experience events that trigger certain emotions. How people react to these events may depend on that person feels during that event. In terms of whether our emotions control us or we control our emotions, I believe that to some extent emotions control us. Because we cannot change how we feel in response to certain stimulus, emotions control us. However, people have some control over whether or not they act on their emotions. Emotions at that given moment can influence our actions. If people can control their reactions, then to some degree we are controlling our emotions. However, the prompts raises several important questions. How can one’s emotions alter other ways of knowing such as perception or reason?
