When discussing feminism in today’s society, various feeling can arise from different individuals. Everyone may support feminism but it may mean something different to each person. That is because there are several subdivisions of feminism. As I started to reflect on what feminism meant to myself and explored various feminist websites, I found things I disagreed with and others I was in agreement with their views. One website really challenged and truly made me reflect upon my view of feminism and how I may interact with individuals with these views. The other website I felt really resonated with my thoughts and feelings on feminism.
These two articles helped to open my mind to the many opposing views of feminism and how I could be a better provider to all individuals.

For women in America I feel that if you do not wish be a victim than do not play the role.
This has been a valuable lesson to further investigate my feelings on feminism and to explore how these feelings may affect me when interacting with individuals of opposing feminist views than mine. I feel that the best way to project an unbiased attitude when dealing with such a patient is to handle the situation as I would with someone from a different cultural background.
That is to realize that we are all uniquely different and that it is a blessing to be different. To be allowed to have different views than another person is what makes us unique and we should not be shredded for being different. Just as I do not want to be judged for my values and opinions, I will not judge others for their same right. It is vital to understand this to allow a trusting and respectful relationship to grow between a provider and patient; especially if they have different ideologies or values. I am proud to live in a diverse nation where we have the right to be different and have different ideologies, we need to celebrate our uniqueness not destroy
If I am not open to their perspective, then I will not be able to help them move past whatever their situation may be. By recognizing that everyone has a different worldview, it will allow me to be more open and understanding towards them.
Women’s participation in school or the workplace are negatively affected because of the fear of violence, and many long-term health consequences arise from physical and sexual abuse. Heartbreakingly, a woman in South Africa has a “greater chance of being raped than she has of learning to read” (Tracy 6). In the patriarchal society of China, infants or fetuses face death simply for being born female (Tracy 18). According to Merriam-Webster.com, feminism is “the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities”. Feminism is a also a long term social movement, one that’s been in the works since the early 1900’s. When I hear the term Feminism I automatically think its about doing things for women, and what they stand for, so I didn't really have a good idea about it. So I went online and looked it up. In the 19th century, there was an up rise in feminism for their social role in life. Women were expected to be an average house wife, to take orders from their husbands without questioning them. The woman did not have privileges such as right to vote, to be educated, be free spirited and hold jobs. They lived in patriarchal society where man made all the decision in the household and his wife followed them. The inequality between the genders created frustration amongst females, of which after a prolonged mental impact they revolted. It can be said that the ambition for women to fight for their rights sparked the feminist movement. This movement was based on set of viewpoints, political ideologies, cultural and moral beliefs where women felt compelled to obtain their given rights. The feminist movement was a multi-facet of waves, each of which left an impression to the issues in relation to social status, legal inequalities, and liberation.
One can hardly talk of a single united feminism, but rather, manifold feminisms. The US feminist movement ‘s main global struggle has been to enable ‘womankind’ to fully lead her existence and live her humanity by standing against the injustices of the dominant patriarchy and sexist discrimination . Throughout history, the dominant mainstream Feminism ( with capital F) tends to have been related to conform to the aspiration of the educated middle-class heterosexual white women who have traditionally been given unequal power to widen their significance--but the movement has lately had more ramifications.
