1- What is Emotional Intelligence?

The textbook defines Emotional Intelligence as “the ability to monitor and control one’s emotions and behavior at work and in social settings.” This means that EQ is your ability to maintain your attitude and most influential emotions such as anger in a way that is both appropriate and effective for the work or social setting. Being able to keep your emotions in check with rationality can make or break a workplace whether it’s for your own benefit or for the employees you work with.

2- List the five skills that are components of Emotional Intelligence and explain how you can benefit by using each of the five skill sets either personally and/or professionally.

As the list goes on, it is clear to see how important these skills are. It’s easy enough to know how to act but to actively find out what these mean and implement them into the real world will make any situation much better for anyone involved. In the work world you will be faced with scenarios and situations where another’s poor attitude may spark and ignite a fire in your attitude, or within others. These individuals may be victims of poor self-awareness or they have simply just been pushed to the edge and found a breaking point. With self-regulation you benefit in both parties if you have one who can take a tense moment of anger or similar drama, and diffuse them, turn them around, or completely change them into something
