In 1999 a new white rapper emerged and blew everyone's’ minds! Eminem was born October 17, 1972, he grew up in a volatile home. He had to move schools two to three times a year and was invariably bullied. When he was nine he got beaten up so crudely he was in a comma for a week. His father abandoned him at six months leaving his mom to take care of young Marshall Bruce Mathers II. He was exposed to rap as a teenager and studied the dictionary to learn creative words to use in his raps. He always enjoyed English class and had a decent grade in it too, but he did fail the rest of his classes. Eminem had to repeat ninth grade three times and eventually dropped out. After he dropped out his only focus was rap battles, he was the only white man competing, and was shown no respect. His song “Rap God” has one thousand five hundred sixty words and was six minutes long. His song “Lose Yourself” was the first rap song to win Number One Song of the Year for the Grammys. Eminem was in The Guinness Book of World Records multiple times. He wrote the song “Lose Yourself” on the set of 8 Mile, he would jot down notes in between takes. A study showed that he has the best vocabulary in the game, out of ninety three artists in over twenty five genres he was found to have the widest vocabulary with eight thousand eight hundred eighteen unique words. …show more content…
“Lose Yourself” is the theme song for Eminem’s movie, 8 Mile.
“Lose Yourself” is an aggressive song and is about Eminem’s hard life story. It is about how he had to earn his respect, Eminem was treated like trash because he was white. The song really connects to you and makes you feel for Eminem and the tough times he went through. “Lose Yourself” starts out with a piano intro and once Eminem starts singing the tempo goes from slow to upbeat. The song is showing off his writing skills and his ability rap. However, “Rap God” is the song that really shows off his rapping ability, and how fast he can really
rap. This song stands out because it is very original and creative. “Lose Yourself” is probably very personal to Eminem, this song shows a lot of emotion without being too deep. This song is overall an excellent song. Eminem is very skillful rapper and songwriter, just some of his other songs are offensive. I highly recommend this song and I think it would be a very good idea to purchase this song.
When people hear the word rap, they think money and drugs. Unfortunately, every rapper falls in to that category however some rap can be more meaningful than any song could every be. Today, I’m going to show you one rapper who falls into this stereotype.
Eminem, born as Marshall Mathers, has proven that with a lot of desire, drive and dedication, anybody can accomplish even their greatest of goals. Eminem was raised in the ghettos of East Detroit. He was bullied and victimized by other students in school. He worked to achieve his goal, against the odds. As a result, what he has become is one of America's most popular and successful music artists.

The theory that best explains Eminem is social-cognitive theory. Rapper Marshall Mathers, also known as Eminem, was born into a broken home with his father leaving when he was an infant. Marshall began underground rapping in order to move out of his devastating environment. Eminem learned how to become hard and closed off from growing up in a poor part of Detroit. Eminem has a very high internal locus. One can see an example of his internal locus by him doing everything he could to get out of poverty- this includes competing in the Rap Olympics in 1992. Eminem was signed by Dr.Dre and soon moved from Michigan to California, albeit without his daughter and his wife.
Who is Eminem? People might say that he is the greatest rapper of all time. Some people think that he is inappropriate because he cusses in his music. Now in all of his songs they have a story to it. For most of his songs he talks about his life and how hard it is. In one of Eminem songs he tells a story about his family life and the song is called Mockingbird. A man who becomes a rapper and leaves his family behind but while he’s rapping all he could think about is his family. So how can someone love their family but leaves them so that they could rap. At this point the Mockingbird is about his family structure that created psychological issues.
Kanye West is known to many as simply a narcissistic rapper. Many others find him as a gifted lyricist, fashion designer, producer, and much more. His parents divorced when we was three years old.
Carney’s clever style of writing indicates a strong point of view defending Eminem , but his style of writing has allowed the reader to make their own decision, giving a fair balance between good and bad. “Eminem deals in some very sick stuff, no doubt about it,” but again goes on to say, “Eminem is a skillfull storyteller and role player.
...it song “Lose Yourself” exemplifies the use of poetry in lyrics that many rappers have been known to implement into their craft. The uses of these particular techniques allow Eminem and many other rappers to creatively deliver their music to their audience in the form of a message, which usually involves encouraging their audience to reach for their dreams no matter the circumstance. The emphasis that Eminem places on his lyrics serve as inspiring words for his audience to follow. He shares a personal struggle and triumph that many can relate to their own personal lives. He shares with his audience the possibility of reaching your dreams and achieving success, while also encouraging them take risks that could lead to amazing results. ...st failed record was over, things took a turn for the better when Marshall met Slim Shady. An alternate personality Em met while sitting on the john one day. Slim Shady was created to take revenge on the world as well as act as a defense mechanism. He suddenly started to write songs about his life and his high school nemeses. In 1997, the night before Em left for the Rap Olympics in L.A, Em had to break into his own house because there was an eviction notice and he had nowhere to go. Em had no heat or water or electricity. Forced to sleep on the floor, Em woke up angry and ticked off. There was this black guy in the front row of the crowd yelling ‘just give to the white boy. It’s over. Give it to the white boy’. While Em may have lost the battle he won the war. Em didn’t lose when Dr. Dre took a listen to Eminem on a demo tape. (Dr. Dre is the Godfather of Rap). “In my entire career in the music industry, “Dre says” I have never found anything on a demo tape of a CD. When Jimmy played this, I said, ‘Find him, Now!’” (www.eminem.com/bibliography, 1). It’s been mostly downhill from there with his music career. His debut record The Slim Shady LP sold 480,000 copies in the first week.

Eminem was nominated for the Grammy’s Award for Best Rap Song Solo Performance with ‘Mockingbird’. Disregarding that fact that some critics dismissed the album ‘Encore’, Eminem’s vulnerably, open-minded and precisely constructed lyrics revealed the ordinary Marshall Mathers, a middle-aged single dad dealing with a broken family due to a disastrous marriage. However, he is trying to come to terms with an internal struggle due to his own personal inadequacies and shortcomings. Eminem expresses his desire to protect, care and love his children but is not there physically to provide this reassurance for them. Many fathers may experience similar struggles and can relate to this paradox.
Some believe that Eminem is reverting back to his old self, while believing that this song has a strong negative influence. However, others believe that this song was necessary. Personally, I agree with Eminem’s
