The Station was a single story wood frame building of approximately 4500 square feet.. It was originally built in 1946 as a club for local military personnel who were on leave. Over the years it served as a variety of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. In 1972, a fire damaged the building and reopened in 1974. In 1991 it was converted into its final incarnation as a bar and showroom. The building was arranged with the bar, kitchen, dart room along with offices and storage on the east end of the building. The showroom and sunroom area comprised the west. There were four exits. The front door was only accessible through a corridor partially occluded by a small ticket booth and another 36 inch wide doorway in the middle of the corridor. This becomes a critical chokepoint when the fire breaks out.

The JSPOA Friendship center has several engaging activities for their members such as arts and crafts, exercise class, dance class, computer class, dominoes, and even outside trips. Doing field placement gave me an insight on what the center is about and what it has to offer. For example, I saw that the senior citizens at the center were very enthusiastic about their work and were so engaged in their activities. They were so thrilled to share their accomplishment such as their beautiful arts and craft. Overall, the senior citizens at the center looked very pleased with the services and programs that were available to them as well as the relationships they created with one another by being a member of this center.

Ever since my first visit, I have researched the Academy Extensively, exploring what it takes to become a cadet. When first informed of the chance to attend the Summer Seminar, I was finally given the opportunity to experience cadet life first hand. To attend the Seminar, I would be given a glimpse of what to expect at military Service Academy. My Expectations of the Seminar are to be taught the basic of military customs and courtesies and apply these skills to leadership applications such as drill and ceremonies (e.g. marching a flight or passing a drill inspection). Physical training will be an integral part of the academy experience. So, participation in team sports and obstacle courses will test us physical and mentally pushing us to work together. Induvial fitness will be a priority because of the intense training of the Academy. Overall, I believe the Seminar to be a learning experience for many people seeking to become a cadet. The information being beneficial for those seeking to become a future Falcon at the

While other developments may provide ground floor spaces to attract artists, 1950 Mission is being developed to create

We know that the mind clings to the negative — but research also shows us that 3 times more positive things happen to us than negative things every day. At any given time, a lot of things are going right in our lives. Either in our career or in our personal lives. It could be that you enjoy what you do at work, are grateful for the paycheck, or appreciate your organization’s values or benefits. It could be the joy you derive from your family, hobbies, sports, or community service. When we savor our experiences, we derive more pleasure and satisfaction from them. Spending time enjoying and feeling grateful for what is going right in your life will help you weather the rest. Caroline spent hours every week devoted to a community service activity from which she derived the joy and strength with which to face her other
The Activity Center center has been around since 1955, it was founded during the civil rights movement. I learned that the Activity Center has been dedicated to help families for many years. Corey, one of the volunteers I met there, went to the Activity Center as a kid. The statement on the Activity center states, “For decades the Community Center has served neighboring families, youth, seniors, and the Lincoln community with inclusive ‘social, cultural, education, employment and welfare’ services.” The Community center has been a refuge to many African-American families who have needed financial support through out the years.

...ere personally and felt it was great place for my grandmother to stay. Kathy said she feels more comfortable and relieved to know that there are people she knows working there. My grandmother has decent size apartment that is equipped with metal handles to help her use the bathroom or shower. I really liked about it all that she still had some independence while living there by enjoying the company of others through special activities, meals, or social gatherings. They have 24 hour medical care with once a day a nurse checking up on her. The big plus my aunt told me is that they focus on memory, the staff members are specially trained to care for those who have memory loss and work with them to meet individual’s capabilities. When I visited my grandmother I asked her myself if she likes it and was meeting new people, which she told me with a cute big smile she did.

Tonight we stand at a crossroad where each one of use will take a new direction in our life's journey. Walt Whitman said "Not I - not anyone else can travel that road for you. You must travel it for yourself." Where we end up isn't the most important decision, but instead it is the road we choose to take to get there. The road we take is what we will look back on and call our life. Life is a journey of everyday experiences, teaching us moment in, moment out, who we really are. It's important to remember these words "Happiness is to be found along the way, not at the end of the road, for then the journey is over and it is too late."
