Most people think the only difference between eight man football and eleven man football is three players. They are wrong, penalties, field length, style of play and other rules keep the two games very different. Anyone who has watched the two games knows that that the style of play and the pace of the game are nothing alike. Eleven man football has to be played hard throughout the whole game instead of getting up by forty-five points and you win. Eight man football and eleven man football are technically the same game but, many details keep them different and make eleven man more difficult.
What really separates the two game is the style of play. Eight man football is just like flag football with pads on. Most teams have one kid that can
throw the ball, one kid who can catch the ball, and one kid that is fast. Most teams go for the big play every time and never run the ball up the middle. In recent years, many teams have started passing the ball every play and running an up tempo no huddle offense making the games quicker and more exciting. In eleven man football, the games are slower and more thought out. Teams tend to run the ball more and huddle up each play and think about which play to run next. Defense is also more important in eleven man football. Teams try to force a punt by the opposing team or try to get the ball back. In eight man, defenses will play looser and might even let the other team score so they can get the ball back and score more points. Special teams are also more of a factor in elven man. In many games special teams are the difference maker on who wins the game. Teams punt more and kick field goals and extra points. They also provide many of the big plays that happen in the game like kickoff returns for touchdowns. Eight man teams lean more towards going for it on fourth down and trying a two point conversion after they score to get more points. Generally eight man teams try to score more points then the other team to win games instead of trying to keep the other team from scoring at all like traditional football. The two games are very similar in many aspects. In both games the positions are the same like quarterback, runningback, wide receiver, and offensive line. Since eight man football is played in smaller towns lack of depth is usually an issue and most players have to play the whole game. Most teams only have one or two extra players on their team. Because these towns are smaller the players are smaller and not as strong as kids that play eleven man football. Most schools that have eight man football do not have a weight room or any sort of training facility to train players during school or in the summer. Also many 8 man schools have kids that want to play football but do not get the chance to play because the have to go home and work after school. Another advantage that eight man teams have is the size of the field they play on. The fields that eight man teams play on are eighty yards long and only forty yards wide. This allows teams to adjust their play calling to the field. This also make defense easier because there is less people and les field to cover. Penalties are also less harmful to eight man teams. A ten yard holding penalty in eleven man is now only five yards in eight man. Most of the penalties are cut in half in eight man. Also if an eight man team is ahead by forty-five points a mercy rule is enforced and the game is over. In eleven man football you have to play the whole game and risk injury no matter what. Eight man football may be the same game but eight man football is easier. The style of play between the two games is completely different. But lack of depth hurts many eight man teams. The rules and field size also give eight man football an advantage over eleven man.
Play style, rules differences, and passion for the game are on field differences between college football, and the NFL. There are also many off field differences, including money. Most general things about the game, are still the same though. Due to the differences between college football and the NFL, college football is more enjoyable to watch as a fan.

Now don’t be confused on the word football, since I am not talking about “soccer” at all. Football which is otherwise known as the NFL or the National Football League, is an American based sport that involves thirty-two teams from cities all over the country that compete against each other through strategy and strength in order to reach one goal; to win the Super Bowl.
With friends, enemies, and other players playing flag football, most players will get along and work together. When not working together, there is even competition. Players need to throw a ball to get it across the field. They have to plan with teammates how to do that. In flag football, there is good, clean competition. To get some one tagged, all the players have to do is pull the flag without hurting the players.
The main differences are in the technique used to throw the ball and the number of players on the field, both styles of soft ball use the underhand throwing style.
Football has been defined as one of the most competitive sports in the world. There are many different levels of playing, such as flag, high school, college, and professional. Where most of the rules stay the same no matter what stage of playing you are at, some things do change. When coaching in flag football for little kids you won’t be making money, the players aren’t recruited, and you don’t have a set number of players for your team. When playing n college and in the National Football League (NFL) all of those things come into play.
The rules of these similar yet vastly different games are extremely complex, so only the basics are necessary to distinguish the better sport. In football, the primary rule is that you must advance the ball forward by throwing it or running with it. Once a player with the ball is downed, the entire team lines up again, and the ball is snapped to the quarterback. The short pause in-between each down may not seem significant, but it definitely takes its toll on the excitement.
The rules of American football can be really hard to understand at first, especially the level of play. First the game of football is a timed sport. It’s divided up with 4 quarters and a halftime to give players a break and fans time to go to the
high. Also, if a runner is hit exactly at his center of mass, he will
Football is known around the world but unfortunately not played. Football is an American based sport which ironically is played only in the United States, while soccer on the other hand is played all over the world. Another difference is the kit/protective gear used in playing. In football, Helmet, Shoulder/Chest pad/protector, upper leg padding and mouth guard are rightfully required while in soccer, Shin guards and Boots is all that is required. This is why Soccer is considered a gentleman 's sport played by beasts and Football is a beastly game played by
Athletes who play football share the same goal as athletes who play soccer: score the most goals to win the game. In football, there are two areas on opposite sides of the field where one can score points by bringing the football over the goal line. Soccer shares this same concept by having two nets on opposite sides of the field where one can score a point by kicking the soccer ball into the net. Also, both sports share the concept of having an offense and defense, and both sports each have eleven players on a team on the field at a time. These are only few of many similarities between these two sports, but in actuality, they are significantly different. The rules, rituals, and concepts of both sports distinguish themselves from each other.
A common question asked is where American Football got its name even though it was played (for the most part) by hand. The answer for this is simple. When the game was first brought to the United States, it was nothing like the football we know and love today. The use of hands was minimal and it was an illegal play to throw the ball in a forward motion. At this time in History the extra point kick was worth six points in the late 1800’s and a touchdown only worth two. So as a result they named the game football because at this point kicking the goal was worth more points and were the main goal of the game. They were tempted to name the game something similar to the game it was made from, rugby, however they decided they would differentiate it by naming it something completely different.
These two situations are different because in war lives are at stake, and in football bragging rights are at stake. In football you take turns to score a touchdown and in war you are by yourself in order to win. In football you are using a ball and in war you are using guns, cannons, grenades etc. In football you are playing a game

Association football is played in agreement with a set of rules known as the ‘Laws of the Game’. The game is played using a sphere-shaped ball of 71 cm circumference known as the ‘football’ or ‘soccer ball’. Two teams of eleven players each participate to get the ball into the other team’s goal, thus scoring a goal. The team that has scored more goals at the end of the game wins. If both teams have scored an equal number of goals then the game is a tie. Each team is controlled by a captain.
