Many students at O.J. DeJonge middle school have noticed the filthy gym and inside/outside bleachers . This problem is important because students can easily become prone to sickness and injuries. We could fix many of these problems by replacing, cleaning and having a job for students so we could keep our things clean. I think the school needs to clean after themselves and a replacement of bleachers near the track. There are multiple reasons why this has become a problem. One reason is, students eat and then leave food behind during the mornings, even though there's a breakfast area students still eat else where. The bleachers inside the school and outside are dangerous and gross, the gym bleachers have molded food, food wrappers, varieties of stray papers and miscellaneous items. Then at oriel field the metal bleachers are rusted and not safe to use, they have gum, chipped paint and trash underneath them and it makes the field look trashy. …show more content…
During softball season, my friends and I would sit on the bleachers and watch the older kids play but, we often get scrapes and cuts on our legs as we get up. If we don't have shots these cuts could potentially cause lockjaw or otherwise know as tetanus. A dirty gym could also negative effects too. An article from cover sports says the dirt and dust build up makes it easier for athletes to slip and it dulls the expensive floors. A dirty gym and bleachers can also negatively impact the amount of tourists and new students Ludington could potentially have. The parents of new students may see the filthy gym and think their child should go to a well kept school with clean gyms. And tourists who come to ludington may not want to visit again if their family or they get cut on bleachers. As stated rusted bleachers and dirty gym rooms can be dangerous for many people and disgust
Moreover, this study reflected recommendations to improve the health of the student-athletes. In addition, the limitations that this study displayed over the athletic training services were mostly related with the lack of staff, and the medical budget offered by the high school. Even that not having athletic trainers represent a liability issue for the school and the school district; based on the data obtained, the study stated that some schools just provided “expenditures levels as low as 10 dollars per athlete” (Valovich McLeod, et al.,
I think one reason for this is, as it said in the article, many people don’t want “serious injuries” (a.k.a. lawsuits) but, a little sting from a ball isn’t even close to a serious injury. These outrageous bans are sucking the fun and lessons out of gym by not letting them learn about risks and how to deal with pain, mental and emotional.
When is the public school system going to improve their fields and weight rooms to that of the private schools? The private schools have set the bar at a level where we should be at. Why are we telling our students everyday to work hard and you will get the rewards. We don’t ask our student athletes to lower their standards, so why should we. The number one goal of any high school athletic department is to assist the student athletes. (Austin, 2012-13)
Before I get into “why”, you must first hear my story. You must understand how I began cheerleading, where cheerleading has stood in my life, and what it has meant to me before you can understand why I do it and why we, cheerleaders collectively, do it.
In the early 21st century, in a small town of Mequon, Wisconsin; a great injustice was being imposed upon the nobel students & staff of Homestead High School. The formerly great school was in a state of disrepair, textbooks were old and reeked of goat milk, the ceilings were filthy and foul, and even the heating and air conditioning systems were decayed and inoperable relics of a better time. Then, during an otherwise average and dreary day the whole student body was taken by surprise as the loathsome and terrible consortium, known as the school board had announced via loudspeaker, yet another set of horrid budget cuts. Unsurprisingly, the cuts were meant to free up funds for use of construction of a new astro-turf football field. For years,
A common denominator that successful people share is the involvement of playing a varsity sport in high school. Every high school in the United States is different, however all encourage students to get involved. Most commonly, students decide to join sports. High school sports can cause profitable effects because students live healthier lives, achieve higher grades and learn life lessons.
It affects the sports club because it has a swimming pool, so the chlorine levels in the water are controlled well so that nobody can be harmed that is why the statutory law is there.
The Johnson County school board may be very resistant to the idea of allowing public access for the use of facilities to improve physical activity in the community due to liability concerns. These liability concerns are issues of additional cost, such as having to acquire additional health insurance to cover uninsured persons and for maintenance or damages that could occur to the school faciliti...
Many other students told me that they would go out for spring sports if they were at the school, but because they aren't they decide not to. Not to mention everyone I have asked about this issue feels that it is an unnecessary annoyance. While other school programs and other people are trying to do something, we are being an interruption to them and they are interrupting us. How can you hold productive practice when there are other people there taking space, using the equipment we need, and taking away our time? The answer is, we can’t, and the fix is easy. Simply start saving up money and also do fundraising to get the money needed to build the things we need here at Havre
Imagine this, Friday night, bright lights, the smell of popcorn, your classmates in the stands cheering you on, and the coolest thing of them all, the name of your own school on your jersey, representing the whole school. Some schools think sports cost too much money, but being a student is harder than ever. You are being held to tougher academic standards-and so is your school and that's why it is more important than ever for schools to keep sports because private and club sports are too expensive for most families and sport programs in school can affect and improve academic skills.
Some students may suffer from medical conditions that hinder their ability to play school sports. Asthma is a common breathing problem that can be triggered by physical activity. Although, asthma can be controlled with an inhaler, it does not work one hundred percent of the time, and could possibly lead to death if the inhaler should fail. Carpal tunnel syndrome, is a syndrome that affects the joints of some people. Although rare in high school
Student athletes live very busy lives. A typical school day runs from 8:00-2:30, add in a two- hour practice or game, score a part time job, dive into some family time, a grand slam of homework and catch a little bit of sleep. Students are more stressed due to the many activities they are a part of. This issue affects a lot of people not only in this school district, but most other high schools throughout the country. All student athletes exercise more than other children who are not involved in an extracurricular sport. In school athletics, the players are called “student athletes” meaning that school activities come first. There are strict rules for student athletes, not only on the field but in the classroom as well. In physical education
I would like to propose that Salida Elementary school start teaching physical education on a regular basis. With each age group, the curriculum would be simple. Staff could work together and come up with easy and fun activities that grade levels could do together or separate. Teachers should also try to be good role models when it comes to snacks and drinks they bring into class. Children believe that if their teacher is drinking a soda then it’s alright for them. Also, children should not be given candy as rewards or special prizes the majority of the time. They should switch it up to stickers, erasers, pencils, and markers. Make it fun!
There needs to be additional parking on campus made for those visiting the campus and also for students, faculty already has reserved parking; however the limited amount of parking on campus is forcing students and visitors to reserved faculty lots. Our school is limited in funding for certain projects such adding additional parking to solve the parking problem on campus. The student body should take responsibility for the raising of these funds to build additional parking on campus. The rising sophomore class should organize fund raising events to build additional parking on campus.
The amount of physical activity students receive during school hours has started to present itself as a major issue. This problem has become major because kids need physical activity, not only to stay healthy but it helps them stay focused in school and benefits them in many other ways. It is essential, for the good of Vianney, that the amount of physical activity we receive during school hours is increased. Physical activity gives students a way to get rid of all of our unused energy and help us stay focused in the classroom. In order to improve learning and class management Vianney needs to open the gym during encore.
