Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) Standards Development
The Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) standards are a guide that was developed to assist future school leaders with meeting the growing demands of education. The standards help prepare future school leaders who will have the ability to promote the success of all students by supporting them and maintaining a positive school environment for learning. The standards strive to create school leaders that have the ability to operate a safe learning their rights and working collaboratively with their families and other community members for the benefit of the students. During this activity, I conducted a full clinical supervision cycle on a first grade practicing teacher. During the observation, I noted some behavior management concerns that my understanding of my leadership role. By completing the observation I was able to see areas that needed improvement in order to maintain high standards of instruction. When we met at the post conference, I was able to learn how to set and maintain high instructional standards for the students while continuing to keep an open trusting relationship with the teacher. I have learned that I want teaches to feel that we are collaboratively working towards our vision, not teachers versus the administrator. Many school districts have moved to a computer based evaluation program, where the school leader must evaluate the teacher on an electronic device, and Accountability Instrument used to evaluate teachers during indicators that should be observed during a formal evaluation.
While completing this internship activity, I learned that using technology in the classroom for the students as well as evaluating teachers using technology makes the school leader’s job more efficient. It also helps to track patterns in instructional behaviors so they may be addressed at a later date.
ELCC Standard 3.0 The ELCC standard 3.0 aims at ensuring schools leaders are knowledgeable of the best practices required to effectively manage a school. School leaders should be able to make the appropriate changes needed to create an effective learning environment.
ELCC 3.1. Standard 3.1 is important because one job of a school leader is to create an effective learning environment that is safe and orderly.
