Based on our company performance it is apparent that productivity at Echo Electronics declined significantly. I should have inform you sooner about the decline in sales and I am sorry for not getting to you on time. Meeting our customers ever-changing needs is the priority of Echo Electronics and I have taken immediate actions to improve our product quality and increase productivity. In order to retrieve our market place I decided to form a committee with the head of each department so we can avoid future mistakes. In addition, we will provide our employees with better training and detailed manuals on how to efficiently use new workstations. Also, to build better morale among our employees with will use motivational tools, such as, quarterly
bonuses for best performance. As a production manager I will spend more time on the production floor so I can get immediate feedback from our first line workers and supervisors from other departments. In order to provide better employee training we will hire technicians with relevant experience and knowledge about new equipment. Adequate training is necessary to improve our employees performance. Our front line workers must be comfortable with new technology so they can avoid any confusion on the production floor. We will delegate more responsibility and authority to subordinates because empowerment is a motivating factor that can foster innovation and productivity. Moreover, management will spend more time discussing new procedures with first line workers to get their immediate feedback and we will make sure to answer any questions they may have regarding new workstations. To further boost our employees performance a quarterly bonus will be offered to those who embrace new technology most efficiently. Financial incentives will build our employees morale and it will reassure them that new technology is not adopted to replace them, but to increase their productivity and product quality. Implementation of new technologies works well for our competition and after the new program is put into operation computerized workstations will benefit our company as well. I have already consulted my decisions with heads from other departments and I met their approval. The new program will begin next week and for today I have scheduled a meeting with new committee to discuss program details. Tomorrow every employee will receive an email with guidelines and necessary information about the new program. On Monday management will meet with employees to answer any question they may have. I want you to know that we have things under control and I will keep you up to date and send you reports on any progress we have made.
Riordan Manufacturing is going through organizational changes because of fluctuations in profits and declining sales. The customers are now serviced by a sales team instead of a salesperson. The manufacturing plants have been restructured into self-directed work teams and some of the manufacturing work has been moved from the U.S. plants to China. Due to all these changes, the employees are experiencing a high level of dissatisfaction. The wide range of demographics creates a challenge for increasing job satisfaction and improving motivation among all employees.
Ecton Inc. is a small company that develops innovative solutions in the medical imaging market. The latest device they have developed is the first portable, highly compact, fully digital, echocardiography. Traditional echocardiographies are large pieces of equipment that offer zero mobility. This rendered emergency rooms powerless to the convenience mobility offers. For example, if a doctor needed to receive an image of a patents heart they would have to schedule and move a patient to the location of the echocardiography. In an emergency situation this limits the data doctors require to make an accurate prescription if the patient cannot be move to the machine. By miniaturizing this device Ecton has ushered in a revolution in the medical imaging arena. The next step for the company is to decide how they are going to introduce the product to the market. This study has put me in the driver’s seat and offered me a glimpse of what the CEO was faced with when making this decision. I will provide my opinion regarding the next steps Ecton should perform moving forward with their newly developed disruptive technology.
