Eating healthy in order to have a prosperous lifestyle often starts by making informed food choices. This means that you must eat the right amount of foods (generally containing large amounts of vitamins and minerals) in each food group. Choosing a variety of nutrient-rich foods can help you live a longer, healthier life. Along with eating healthy, you must get enough hours of exercise, which will support your cells and allow them to work efficiently. The 5-2-1-0 rule generally recommends about an hour or more of physical activity for most adolescents however, this may vary for different people. According to my meal tracker, it is recommended for me to consume a total of 2,000 calories per day, that of which contains 6 ounces of grains, 2 ½ cups of vegetables, 2 cups of fruits, 3 cups of dairy products, 5 ½ ounces of protein, and 6 tsp of oil. On Sunday, June 11th, I had already fallen short on the intake of grains and dairy however, I did manage to consume my daily 2 ½ cups of vegetables, two cups of fruits, six tsp of oil, and 2 ¾ ounces of protein all from the salad, crab soup, and mix berries I have eaten throughout the day. On Monday, June 12th, I ate a subway sandwich containing 1.3 ounces of protein, and two ounces of whole wheat bread, only 23% and 30% of the actual recommended amount. Recording my physical activity on the same three days, I am proud to say that I have gone past the recommended amount of exercise. On June 11th, I went for a walk around Waikiki for about three hours, hanging out with friends and going to the beach. When I got home, I took a break and then proceeded to go on a run while watching the sunset. This gave me another one hour which totaled to four hours of exercise. On June 12, I went on two hikes ; Lanikai Pillbox and Manoa Falls. Each hike took about about 2-3 hours giving me around five hours of physical activity. On June 13, I was back to summer school PE. Our new activities were noodle hockey (an invasion game played with a pool noodle and ball) and ultimate frisbee (which required a lot of running after the frisbee because we were pretty bad at compensating when the wind blew.) Although we had two breaks each 15 mins long, our PE class totaled to about five hours of physical activity, which of course, exceeded my recommended one
