At the ECHD I met with the pediatric nurse, she talked me through the services offered there. The nurse showed me the charting portion of her jobs as well as what assessment is done on children. We mostly talked about immunizations, she showed me the room where they do the assessments and where the patient received the vaccines, I noticed that the room were arrange I a way to make the children more comfortable and make the experience less frightened. During rotation I witness multiples vaccinations, I noticed that when more than 2 vaccines were required, usually two nurses do it, that way is faster and child experiences less pain. The nurse reviewed with me the schedule that the children follow for immunization, she also provide me with a questionnaire that was handed to the parents, this questionnaire has some question such as there is any allergy to any medication or previous vaccine, also asks about current health status, all of this is done to check for any contraindication or precautions needed when give certain type of vaccine. I assisted the nurse while …show more content…
she administered immunizations to a different kids, she used their leg for that, and showed where in the leg should the shots be administered, she said that precaution needs to be taken to prevent nerve damage. The staff disinfected every room after patients were seen, that way contamination from one patient to another was prevented. This day were full of children that got influenza vaccine, the majority already had the virus, I noticed that when a family member was infected with the virus the rest of the family likely had it too.
The nurse told me that there are two different offices in same department with two different vaccines supplies, one for private insured people and one for uninsured, and when the supply on either runs low they use the other one, that way treatment for a child is complete same day. I walked into the room where they keep the vaccine, majority of them where refrigerated by protocol policy, I saw how they drew from the vials and mixed. The CNA at the ECHD also offers great help with VS and the samples collection to test for viruses or diseases, the nurse told that sometimes the specimens are send out to a laboratory and the results are back usually in a week so follow with families is done through phone
calls. The article I found is “Reduction of immunization errors through practitioner education and addition of age-specific alerts in the electronic prescribing system”. This article talks about the relation between incomplete medical records and immunizations errors, it also talks about preparing practitioners on immunization schedules and age related errors when administering the vaccines. I remember seeing the nurse going through the patient records and making sure the correct vaccine was ordered for the patients according with their ages, she explained that most of the times when a child had a previous immunization at other place the record might be incomplete, this could be a cause for errors such as the child missing a specific vaccine or doubling in others, those were some of the key points that the article talks about.
Health care policies are put into place regarding childhood immunization requirements for schools, along with information on obtaining religious exemptions. Each state and/or country develops their own individualized guidelines through interactions with federal and state government agencies. One in five babies around the world are missing out on basic vaccines and may die from weak health systems and insufficient funding. UNICEF and its partners are working to change these numbers and ensure that all children are successfully protected with vaccines.
I started by interviewing Joanne Koratich, my mom, because she didn’t vaccinate my siblings and I. I asked why she made the decision, and she replied, “I believe the potential risks outweigh the benefits.” (Koratich, 12/5/17) This was close to what I had been thinking, but when she said it, it reminded me of a video I saw by Hank Green a while back about the scientific reasons behind not vaccinating your children, so I made a note to watch that on another day. I asked my mom if there was any reason why she would reconsider vaccinating us, and she said only if we were going on a trip out of the country where other diseases are a major concern. I only had those two questions for her, but they opened up more questions for me, and by that point, I thought that I was going to have to research only what I found important because I was running out of
Mandated reports are a genre that is a part of numerous careers. Mandated reports are used by mandated reporters which are designate groups of professionals that are required to report cases of suspected child abuse and neglect. A mandated report has a specific way that it has to be field out because the severity of the information is a massive part in helping save an abused or neglected child from being endangered. This research analyzes the difference between the different documentations in mandating reporting and how one reports various from another. The next step is to investigate where and who the forms are turned into. I’ll be looking at the Social Worker perspective because it’s the field of study I’m going in and would potentially help me when I begin my career in children and family services. Giving the information about mandated reports would educate me on the all the factual information needed after receiving a mandate report and from the information gathered, how do they deiced whether or not it’s a serious case or not. This research would uncover every aspect from beginning to end of the entire process of when a report is submitted up until the discussion is made on what to do after reviewing the information. The report is used my any profession to report suspect child abuse or neglect at any time or place. There is a different between different careers on how the report is written depending on the person submitting it. The very last step is going in depth with analyzing the actual form and comparing and contrasting it to other forms from different states. I want to also look at, the different between the forms, depending on who is the attended audience.
My experience an educational assistant has been both challenging and rewarding. For example, Some students were certainly challenging to work with as they gave off a hue of discomfort and disinterest. During one class period, I was tasked with helping a student finish his Algebra assignment that required him to solve for variables on a worksheet. The student did not understand the assignment and was clearly reluctant to complete it, despite already being late to turn it in. I was able to demonstrate patience by spending two whole block periods with the student while working on the assignment until he was able to grasp the concepts being taught. During this experience, I tried not to appear demanding or frustrated since I knew this would only discourage the student from trying. Instead, I
This article focus on a document publishes in the Canadian Paediatric Society website, which can help council hesitant parent that refuse to vaccine their children due to safety concern. This article use research information and premeditated steps to exemplify the issue surrounding the use of vaccine on children. Research shows that health care provider has a major influence on parental decision. In addition, Doctors should take into consideration and understand parent’s specific concern, by taking the time to explain the evidence so the hesitant parents will have a better understanding and this will determine whether a child get immunize. The information that present in the article comes from the “CPS” Infectious Diseases and Immunization Committee, which is research and educational source. This article provide a clear information on what can happen if a child is not vaccinate, due to the facts that parents believe if their child is healthy and strong that they will disease free. However, most parents based their information on what they heard on the media and internet for example, that vaccine cause autism, there is no prove that it does, however things like that will make any parents not want to vaccine their child. There are consequences of a parent not having their child. In Ontario if a child is not immunize they are, not allowed in the school system, this is due to the risk that may occur. For example, a child who is vaccine, but may have a low immune system will mostly like catch whatever disease or bacteria when he encounters that specific chi...

...d to know that if the pregnancy is uncomplicated she will see her provider beginning at week 12 followed by monthly visits until 7 months when she will go every week. In the final month of the pregnancy she will need to be seen weekly up until the delivery. It would also be beneficial to educate the family on the use of pain meds, when they are needed and what to expect. Parenting classes would also benefit the family since they won’t have the assistance of the kraamverzorgende. Another teaching need would be for the different vaccines that children receive here and when they are given, these would include polio which is usually given at 15 months of age, Hepatitis A that is usually given around 12 months of age and the influenza vaccine which is given after 6 months of age. These vaccines are given to protect the baby from the specific diseases. (Walsh, 2012)

These reminders will be utilized for the parents of patients and electronic reminders will be implemented to assist the providers or APRN’s with vaccination management. While call-reminders have been proven beneficial to ensuring immunization appointments are kept, the provision of more than one form of reminder has been proven more effective and is supported by the AAP and ACIP (CDC, 2015). Parents will be given language appropriate appointments cards for the follow-up immunization date along with a telephone reminder prior to the visit and a text message as applicable. In addition to the use of parental reminders, provider reminders will be implemented by the use electronic prompts within the patient’s health records. These reminders will consist of flagged patient charts that appear when the provider accesses the electronic medical record for the patient (CDC, 2015). With the use of both parental and provider reminders, the likelihood of missed doses of vaccinations decrease. In addition to individual reminders, computer generated reminders will be used to generate daily reminders of those patients within the clinic due for immunizations. Employing the intervention to utilize various forms of reminders established by the CDC and AAP will ensure the health promotion goal to improve
Each day, medical research is taken to new and improved levels changing life as we know it. The experiments grow ─along with technology─ and shape this world for the better. Since no one in this world is alike, treatments are being discovered to take care of patients in their own ways. To fit with all these differentiated needs, healthcare has been broken up into multiple categories. Each section is specifically responsible for the unique care of patients but the end goal over all, is the same (treating others). One of the best known units of healthcare that is needed today is Pediatrics. Children under the age of five in America receive better healthcare from their pediatrician than an average family doctor. The specialist in the medical field came to this conclusion by stating that a pediatrician has the specialized knowledge needed in caring for the youth population. As I prove this study to be factual, my research paper will explain how pediatrics came about over time, how much of an alteration there is between a pediatrician and a family doctor, and why this particular care is essential to all children.
I will begin with a solidified schedule. I have requested RCAS tutoring for every class this quarter to review, prepare, and improve my understanding of my courses. Having RCAS tutoring will not only be to go in and ask quick questions, but rather to also set an hour for dedicated studying for each class. Having someone who is also capable in assisting me with any questions I have will make the learning process much smoother and better. In addition, I will be meeting Ms. Vosters every week as well to find ways to improve my studying habits, and to be held accountable. This meeting will not be the only thing keeping me accountable. I will have 2 documents printed out every week. One document requires signatures from myself and my professors.

The number of vaccinations that a child has to receive is overwhelming to a child and parent. They will also be receiving boosters and other vaccinations throughout life. The ineffectiveness of vaccinations can also be a factor in a parent’s choice. Side effects are the main concern between parents’ decision of whether to vaccinate their children. Not everyone believes that vaccinations are helpful; it should be a parents’ choice whether their child should be
Today is the second session that I had counselor with this particle client. He came in to see me for the same problem that he had before. But except this time client had be doing a little than before. Before I started with the interview I had use the five stages and dimension of the interviews a client. I want to have an empathic relationship with my client, and gathering story and find the strength of my client is part of getting to know my client. This time I had set a realistic goal that my client can work toward without feeling that he is not in control of making the decision. The next is stage restoring finding what is not working now and trying to find an alternative that will work then take the action of letting the client go or
My goal: I am going to achieve standing firm when I need to. I need to have this as a goal, because I will be less successful and less respected if I falter in this area.
