Email has become one of the most commonly used communication methods in the world. It has made it possible to send messages to multiple people at different times in different locations. It provides the ability to view and respond to messages when it is most convenient. The creation of the email has improved how people communicate and has led to more advancements. Its unplanned development has drastically changed the Internet. Before the implementation of email, messages could not be sent from computer to computer. Users were limited to sending messages electronically on one machine. In order to send a message between different machines, the only other capability that existed allowed messages to be sent if the sender knew the password to the recipient’s computer and if the sender had an account on the recipient’s computer (Barlas). It would require a person to set up an account on other computer. The problem lies when a recipient is at another location or there are multiple recipients. It was not a realistic system. While Ray Tomlinson was working for BBN known today as BBN Technologies he discovered a solution to this problem. After graduating from Massachussetts Institute of Technology, Ray Tomlinson began to work for Bolt, Beranek, and Newman in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1967. At the time, Bolt, Beranek, and Newman had a government contract to work on the ARPANET, the precursor to the Internet (Cavender). Tomlinson was assigned to help develop the TENEX operating system, which had the ability to support a large virtual memory size. While working on the project in 1971, Tomlinson received a proposal about sending messages between computers where the message was sent to a numbered mailbox and the recipient could read the message... ... middle of paper ... ...14. Today the internet serves as a major source of communication in several different ways. When thinking about communication
The decision to monitor e-mail is left to the organization that provides the e-mail service to users. These organizations can range from educational institutions and private corporations, to governments and non-profit organizations. Each of these different types of organizations has a different agenda and goals, not only in general, but also for their members-and more specifically, for their members' e-mail. While educational institutions can provide e-mail facilities to their constituents for the purposes of convenience, employers almost always maintain e-mail facilities for the sole purpose of improving the on-the-job productivity of their employees.

On the 2nd of September 1969, six weeks after Armstrong landed on the moon, the first test of ARPANET took place at the University of California between 2 computers exchanging data (Hauben, 2009). The system crashed during the experiment, but with the proof of a theoretical view, a revolution started. In his article, Griffiths illustrates the first network of computers connecting UCLA, Stanford Research Institute, University of California Santa Barbara and University of Utah “...
Email is a popular way to communicate online. With ever-growing technology online communication is only becoming more popular among people today. The question that remains is what impact does email have on our communication? Email has different impacts depending on if it is for professional or personal use. Email as a form of communication for professional use is positive, while impact for personal use is fairly negative. Overall the impact of email on interpersonal communication has positive and negative effects that can affect each other.
E-mail is commonplace today, but it has only come into its own in the business community within the last 10 years. Not so with UNIX users, who have been enjoying e-mail for several decades.

The user base of the Internet and World Wide Web grows by millions of users each year. In recent years this has created an explosion in the number of Internet email accounts and addresses. Companies such as Microsoft, Yahoo and Netscape have made free email accounts available for the world to use. Many people have multiple email accounts on the web, in addition to those that they may have for business purposes.
“Ray Tomlinson is credited with inventing email in 1972. Like many of the Internet inventors, Tomlinson worked for Bolt Beranek and Newman as an ARPANET contractor. He picked the @ symbol from the computer keyboard to denote sending messages from one computer to another. So then, for anyone using Internet standards, it was simply a matter of nominating name-of-the-user@name-of-the-computer. Internet pioneer Jon Postel, who we will hear more of later, was one of the first users of the new system, and is credited with describing it as a "nice hack". It certainly was, and it has lasted to this day.” (http://www.nethistory.info/History%20of%20the%20Internet/email.html)
Electronic Mail, a means of communication that is growing at a very rapid rate. In this paper, I will write about introduction of e-mail, the advantage and disadvantage of e-mail, mailing lists, sending an e-mail message, sending attachments, e-mail improvement, and security features. Introduction of Electronic Mail Electronic mail (E-mail) has become popular and easy way of communication in this decade. E-mail is a method of sending and receiving document or message from one person to another. E-mail is not only replacement for postal mail and telephones, and also it is a new medium. E-mail send plain text, images, audio, spreadsheets, computer programs can attach to an e-mail message. Using the e-mail, you must have a computer on a network. The computer must require a modem and phone line. Sending and receiving e-mail needs an e-mail program. Every e-mail user requires an e-mail address. This e-mail address is similar to a postal address. E-mail address is written as username@domain, for instance, PCLEE@juno.com. The username is used for sending and receiving e-mail.
Communication is important in life. Companies need to communicate with other companies and customers. The managers also need to communicate with the staff. The technology provides us with many means of communication, the most important of which is e-mail.
A popular way that people share information is E-mail. The first E-mail was sent in 1971. It was sent between two computers, that were sitting beside each other in the same room, and said “qwertyuiop” (Arandilla, 2011). While the meaning of this message has been lost over time, E-mail has become increasingly popular throughout the years. G-mail, an online email site created by Google, has over 45 million accounts.
