Advantages of E-Commerce

• Online travel agency: Online travel agencies sell vacations over the Internet. An example of these web agencies would be Expedia, Priceline, and Travelocity. The websites allow customers to create or customize vacation, cruises, adventures, hotels packages, etc. Customers can also book travel online without the use of walking into a traditional brick and mortal office and booking with a traditional travel agent. Traditional brick and mortar and online travel agencies perform these services, which can be described as:
1. Accept commissions to sell domestic and overseas tickets for airlines, hotels, cruises, rental cars, tours, etc., and handle unaccompanied baggage on behalf of travelers.

Traditional travel agencies are losing market share because many travelers are purchasing vacation and

business packages from online travel agencies (Kibe et al., 2015). The fast growth of reputable Internet travel agencies is detrimental to the survival of traditional travel agencies, and has placed the role of travel agents in jeopardy (Del Chiappa, 2013). Traditional travel agencies must market products and services successfully, and provide exceptional quality service if they want to survive (Aydin and Yildirim, 2012). Diversification of travel products and services, such as: tours, airline & hotel reservations, religious packages, etc. is a key indicator of profitability for retail travel agents (Almunawar & Anshari, 2014). Traditional travel agencies must consider adopting mobile technology and offering mobile services to customers while they are traveling for business and leisure trips (Schmidt-Rauch & Schwabe, 2014).

With an online travel agency, consumers have experienced: websites ease of use, loyalty, satisfaction, downloading brochures, comparing prices on many websites, writing email comments, instant online chatting, and making frequent purchases (Couture et al., 2015). Traveling is a major part of a customer’s way of life; allowing them to purchase travel online is important to increase online sales, and to give them a positive online customer experience (Rose et al, 2011).
Home Based Travel Agencies Home based travel agencies (HBTAs) became a new part of the travel industry in the 1970s. Home-based travel agents are individuals who operate and sell travel products or services out of a home office (Bowden, 2007).
