Based on our business level strategy, the category we plan to be in will be a luxury, five-star hotel targeted towards international businesspeople. The name of the hotel will be ‘Namaste International Hotel.’ Namaste is a common greeting that originates from India and is used to acknowledge the divine spirit or soul of an individual (Geno). The greeting can be used by individuals of all ages. In Sanskrit, the term translates to “I bow to you” (Geno). Namaste has a spiritual connotation used to recognize that we are all one. It is one of the few Sanskrit words that are commonly recognized by non-Hindi speakers (Geno). The term Namaste in written notation is commonly used as a closing remark, very similar to “sincerely” or “regards.” The term was selected to represent our welcoming to guests from around the world. In this greeting, we signify our commitment to our clientele as well as our emphasis on providing guests with invaluable service and an unmatched level of luxury. The challenge we foresee with the name of the hotel rests with concerns of prejudice and discrimination. Namaste is recognized as a gesture with ties specifically to Hindu and Indian culture. The physical act consists of placing one’s hands together and bowing in respect. Although the term generally has a positive implication and may be thought of with respect by most people, some individuals may perceive the name of the hotel as being too attached to a specific spirituality and culture. My group previously visited the Sheraton Hotel for our first interview with the front desk manager and it went very well. We decided to keep with the same hotel for our next interview, but due to a last-minute cancellation from the housekeeping manager we were not able to complete the interview. Due to this situation, I will be talking about a whole different hotel - G6 Hospitality. The name G6 Hospitality refers to the hotel brands – Motel 6 and Studio 6. I chose to G6 Hospitality because it is a well-known company that I wanted to know about more in-depth. From all my research, I have gained a lot of insight on what G6 Hospitality is all about.

In spite of having numerous structures in place to ensure a luxurious guest experience, the Oberoi Vanayvilas (OV) failed to provide a quality service to its hotel guest. To recover from this service failure, we recommend OV to sincerely apologize and ‘offer refund for the third night and a credit for the two nights for a future stay with additional hotel perks tobe used at OV within a year’ to the impacted guest. Main drivers for our recommendation are to convey a message that Oberoi sincerely cares about the customer inconvenience and wants its guest to revisit the hotel to win over the customer by its exemplary quality service.
