Drivers Accomplishment

The single most important accomplishment responsible for my transition from childhood to adulthood is receiving my driver’s license. I received my license during my sophomore year of highschool. The “training wheels” of my permit had been taken off and I was able to drive by myself without parental supervision. This accomplishment broadened my capacity for freedom, responsibility, and convenience to me and my family. I was finally able to go wherever I wanted whenever I wanted, within the confines of my mother’s permission. This sense of freedom is very important to growing up and maturing. Before I had my license I felt like I was being pushed towards every decision I made, mainly the ones involving where I went or how long I was there, by my supervising parents. Now that I did not have to be carted around anymore I could let beast that is my curiousity take me wherever it needs to fulfill its hunger for exploration, no holds barred. At the surface level of driving you are responsible for transporting a two ton steel pod safely from point A to point B. In the essence of its nature it demands the driver to be responsible. On a deeper level driving has taught me responsibility through the passengers I carry when I drive. When I first received my license I was given the grand honor of being the chauffeur to my two younger siblings. I would drive them everyday to where they needed to be, my mother had been recently divorced so this put a lot on my shoulders transportation-wise. I would have to be responsible by both transporting them safely and scheduling when to pick them up so they had a ride when they needed it. Responsibility is undoubtedely a very strong crucial quality to have when growing into adulthood. My liscense gave me responsibility and was a powerful tool for maturing yet
