Even though, I know life comes with many unexpected surprises. This just happened to shock me because it was very unexpected. I really wished and put in the hard work, but still felt as if I failed. When something you doubt turns out to be reality it feels great. This was truly an unexpected surprise that I was grateful for. Getting my license was so stressful and is a expereience that I will never forget. In order to, get your driver license several steps you have to take. You have to pass the written test of twenty -five questions, practice driving , and finally take the driving portion of the test under the supervision of an certified instructor. I studied for my written test and passed on the first try. I was filled with excitement, but I was only one-third of the way to having my license. I was so worried about not passing my test. I practiced everything in my head a million times. The next morning came and it was time for me to take my test. I had to stand in a long line of teenagers just like my self waiting to be assigned a time and driver who would ride in the passegner seat while I took my test. Once the test started I was beyond nervous. We drove around through a neighborhood for about five minutes before entering the freeway. After about fifteen minutes we arrived back at the testing center and my instructor got out the car without saying a word. I walked back into the testing center and my instructor handed me my permit with, "passed" written bold across the top. I began jumping up an down with excitement. Everyone in the center began capping for me while I could not stop smiling. I could now receive my driver
Getting my driver’s license gave me a sense of freedom that hit me hard with a reality check when I received my first ticket and taught me to respect and obey the law. Driving is a great way to commute anywhere in the United States. Driving is all about decisions, remember to make the right ones behind the
A week before the test our teacher gave us a heads up on when the test was going to be. In my mind, I thought the test would be a multiple choice test and that the questions would be similar to the ones went in class. So, as the weekend approached, believing I had the test covered, I went on with being reckless on the weekend. However, it turns out that what I thought was the time of my life ended up biting me in the rear end.
I committed to a lot of preparation that would assure that I passed the exam on the first try. I studied for three weeks day and night and created flash cards to help me memorize rules. When the day came to take the written exam I isolated in a room with a piece of paper and a pencil, this did not help my level of anxiety that I had prior to arriving at the DMV. But by some miracle, I had passed the test. Receiving my driver’s permit made me one step closer to freedom, but it wasn’t over yet. Now that I had my permit, I had to learn how to actually drive a car. I had a little over four months to perfect my driving skills and learn the interior/exterior of a 2003 Toyota Corolla. Through the course of that time, I put in hundreds of dreadful hours in learning how to drive and locating the interior buttons. I practiced turning left and right correctly, as well as how to accelerate and stop smoothly on public roads. I was told by many that having a car wasn’t only about driving it, it was also about knowing how to keep it clean and knowing how to make sure every aspect of the car was running well. The hard part of learning how to drive was memorizing all the rules, such as the meaning of the lines and signs on the road. Every day spent practicing was a day closer to turning eighteen. On the day of my birthday I made my DMV appointment to take my “Behind-the-Wheel” test. The fear of failing my driving test made me far from excited when the day came. When I arrived at the DMV, I was told to park the car on a drive way next to the building. As I waited for my instructor to get in the car I was sweating bullets but despite the twenty nerve-wrecking minutes the drive lasted, I
When I took driver?s ed. I was a little scared, but very excited at the same time. It was nice for me because they provided the class right at the school, therefore I didn?t have to pay for it. The class wasn?t very long it only lasted one quarter. I enjoyed going to class because I wanted to do good, and I liked to learn about driving. Overall I did very well I received an A, now I had to take the big test.
I was accepted to the program. My jaw dropped as I stood up and walked out of the class. I called my younger brother, who quickly joined me in the hall. We jumped up and down as we hugged each other. I couldn’t control it; I had the largest smile on my face.
Maybe this was a sign I was going to fail. I could only imagine how my brother and sister were going to make me feel. They had teased me about studying so hard for the permit test. Now here I was, not actual failing the drivers test, but failing to go on the correct day.
Imagine, you are all grown up , and ready to drive. Although you may want to drive like other teens in your position you may not have your mind made up . With driving comes more than just putting your foot on a pedal. There are three essential elements in receiving a drivers license convenience , safety, and practice.
What would I be leaving behind if I were to lose my life in a crash where either I was under the influence or another driver was under the influence? The first thing that comes to mind is my father, he would be hit the hardest by my death. I’m his only blood child, I’m his world. I never thought of this when I was taking his alcohol in my sophomore year of high school. I didn't think of who would be affected by it. My gram would be losing who would pretty much her daughter because for years of my life she raised me. I’d be leaving behind my family, my best friend, friends who are like family and the families who’ve taken me under their wing behind to mourn the loss of my life. Drinking and driving, in my opinion, is one of the dumbest things
To sum up, people who prepare all these significant steps by reading the manual handbook from the DMV, take classes with a good instructor and practicing driving with confidence can increase the chance of getting a driver license from the first time. In my opinion, everything in life, no matter how hard it is, it can be handled with some confidence and determination; according to Ying “The confidence and determination my mother had were admirable because English was a new to her as it was to
That night my sister revealed to me that she also suffered from test anxiety at my age, she gave some helpful tips to help relieve my stress. After listening to my sister, I realized that she was right. I needed to take charge and not listen to the voice in my head. That night I got out all my study guides and reviewed went to sleep early, woke up and ate a good breakfast. I felt good that I was ready to get over my fear of taking a test.
Getting a driver’s license gives people the opportunity to spend time with friends or be with their families longer. It also can give them the freedom to get out of the house when they get bored or get angry with their parents or just need to get away for a while. Getting a license is a big deal in today’s society because they can go out to eat with friends from school or take people
I did not even want to think about driving or touch a steering wheel. All that passion and excitement of trying to get my licenses had toned down a bit after failing. But I did not let this stop me as I started to let the failure push me to want it even more I scheduled a second test at the same dmv. During the waiting period I practiced driving every day with my father and by the time the retake day came by I was
Instead, I just practice driving so I can boost up my confidence. If I had took the test, I probably would’ve because the day I started driving I went the opposite direction of my turning signal and didn’t stop for a stop sign. When I drive, I go over the speed limit, so when the limit is 30mph I go 40mph and when it’s 40 mph I go 50 mph, I didn’t like the feeling of how fast the car goes when I barely put five on the gas especially when I press in the brake, sometimes I can feel myself flying out of the car because when I press the breaks I do it fast. As the snow slowly drops, I got more confident in driving and my mom told me to go to the open road and which by the ways was not open, there were so many cars that I thought I was going to get a heart attack, I almost got into an
The person who was calling me names failed the test and all the kids starting laughing at him. I kept quiet because I wasn’t sure if I passed the test either. When she got to my name the class froze. She said I had a perfect score on the test which was the highest score in the class. Everybody was shocked and started cheering me on.
s you? There are numerous things that people find surprising or are surprised by. Some people like being surprised, others strongly dislike it. Surprises come in many different packages, forms, and weights. I would like to talk about surprises that have weight, that have a big impact on people. Surprises can be thought about as something that is shocking but also as a change that one did not think about before. Maybe a different way of looking at something. These surprises usually come in the form of ideas and beliefs. As people learn new things and develop their beliefs they hold on to them. Things that we believe, are not easily taken away from us, or changed. In Wright’s book surprised by hope he would like his readers to think about what
