Dragsters Jonathan l. Dragsters. The cars that go in a straight line and get tested for speed to finish the track by. And this is what I’m working on and telling you about today. But first why do people even drag race or dragsters to use in the first place? Well it gives us a test of what drag and aerodynamics is and tests it in these cars and in this sport. He was born in Tampa, Florida January 14, 1932. He is preferred as ‘big daddy’ to big racing fans. He used top fuel dragster design. He was a great guy. And that’s some history. But why do people do it? Dragster racing is just for the thrill of it. The excitement of wind going through your helmet. Giving you exhilaration all throughout. Not to mention the sweet cars there are in this sport. The air flow design and ingenuity in these cars are amazing. Astonishing to say. That’s why people play them. To feel the rush. That they never got to fell before. Ever in their life at all. So that’s why people dragster. For the history the exhilaration. The power. The excitement. And the things you can learn while doing it. Same thing applies to co2 cars too. The science and math and other things are the things you can learn too by doing this project with aerodynamics and the specific things you need to propel an actual dragster car. Just fascinating. Nascar…. When you think of moonshine you think of the hillbillies in overalls fireing up grand daddys still in the b ack forty. It may come to a shock to you when you learn that nascars the billion dollor enterprise with 100,000 cars that are engineered to be as fast as they can be. Its hard to belive it all started from shine runners. During the great depression millions of gallons of shine were in need of distribution. This is where the ridge runners came into play. The shiners needed a way to get there shine from the stills to the stash houses…. The cops at the time had stock cars and if you could out run them then you wre free. You can only get in trouble if you are caught in the act….. the backwoods shiners started to build cars that would out run the cops. This was the beginning of nascar…..
Training a barrel horse can be lessons because the fastest racers want to be a champion. Training a barrel horse is a timed event where some of the fastest time is what matters the most. (‘Rodeo.about.com”). Speed is what it is all in the training.The riders enters the arena at full speed,quickly rounding each barrel in a clover leaf pattern and then exiting where they entered. Training , is a rodeo sport, it requires the correct equipment,and intense mental and physical training for both the rider and the horse.
The green flag drops on the first race in The National Dirt Racing Association(NDRA). It doesn’t matter where people go, on some little road in a small town, people will find a small dirt track. The speedways are mostly always located in city areas where a large amount of people live. After a weekend of racing the teams head to the shop to fix the car up again. Despite the fact, that racing had been around since before 1978; whenever Mr. Robert Smawley introduced NDRA, and later Mr. Bill France introduced NASCAR, more people paid attention to the sport of racing.
The word demolition means collisions and hitting two objects together while derby mean a race. These two words put together creates a competitive place for people to enjoy derby cars. Demolition derby drivers come from long family history of drivers. The pasion starts when they are old enough to walk, helping dad at the garage. He can remember their first demolition derby going forty miles per hour, smashing into another car and coming in third. From that moment on, he was hooked. From my experience and research, I know there is a lot of time and effort that goes into building the car, participating in the demo derby, and keeping a driver and spectators safe and these are the three areas of focus on in this paper.

At the Indianapolis 500 speedway he placed first in 1908 and eleventh in 1922. Looking up, you see that it is almost your turn. After getting off the hood of the car, open the door, and sit inside the vehicle. As you firmly grasp the wooden steering wheel, the scent of unleaded gasoline fills the air, the rigid feel of the leather racing seat brushes skin, and the warm touch of chrome on the shifter radiates through the car. Sliding the key into the ignition, you turn it and hear the low grumble of the HiPo 302 cubic inch engine. You shift the car into first gear and begin to creep forward to the drag strip.
“Short track racing is always been a way of life and not just a hobby” Bryan Clauson. There's always been people into dirt racing as it is personally my favorite form of racing. This sport isn't all to safe as there has been a massive tragedy in 2016 of Bryan Clauson as he died at the Belleville Midget Nationals. This tragedy sent a shockwave through all sports from dirt to asphalt racing. There is a commitment when you strap into that racecar and that is there's no guarantee that your going to get out so there's always been losses and historical moments in dirt racing. There isn't always tragedies there's famous moments like the 2016 Dream at eldora when a 19 year old kid Bobby Pierce Jr. won the world's most famous dirt race. 2017 will bring new stars like Rico Abreu which has already committed to dirt from nascar and has already won 2 golden drillers from the world's most prestigious midget race, chili bowl nationals in Tulsa Oklahoma .
Some say that automotive racing began when the second car was built. For over a hundred years, competition has driven innovation in the car industry, thus the industry maxim “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” NASCAR and drag racing contributed greatly to muscle cars’ success. Muscle cars were born from these competitions as factory made race cars. Because of this, the muscle car quickly moved from a low quantity specialty item to the image of the American automotive scene. Each brand had to have one and each one needed better performance and personality than the next. The Golden Age began in the 1960s with the introduction of more performance models such as the Chevy SS Impala and the Ford Galaxy Starliner (Auto Editors).

In the early 1900s bicycle design and manufacture had reached a point where aerodynamics was a major factor in bicycle racing. It began with these two seated bicycles that were fitted with French DeDion-Buton single-cylinder, air-cooled internal combustion engines in order to propel the cycles at regulated speeds just ahead of the racers. The pacers were complicated to operate and required two people to run: the front rider was a driver who steered the vehicle and the rear rider was an engineer who constantly adjusted the flow of fuel to the primitive carburetor in order to maintain a constant speed. Unfortunately these engines were very unreliable they would break down often because the fuel delivery of the French carburetors was so unstable. An answer to the problems came from a small-time machinist and self-taught bicycle designer/fabricator named Oscar Hedstrom. Hedstrom started modifying single-cylinder engines and carburetors for bikes and started making them more and more reliable. Hendee started working with Hedstrom and became a huge success in the New England area. This partnership soon leads to a professional business that sold motorcycles.

The dragster has extremely thin tires in the front to reduce rolling resistance and because handling is not a concern the car goes in a straight line it does not need to turn.
