I am a sophomore at Cathedral High School and throughout the school year I have read multiple novels, however only one novel stood out to me. The novel that stood out to me the most was Fahrenheit 451. The reason this book stood out to me was because of your character in the novel. Out of all the characters I have read about, only you have been a real hero to me. Your role as the hero in the novel Fahrenheit 451 was very riveting. It was inspiring to me how you stood up for your beliefs and saw that what society was doing was wrong. You were able to overcome actual obstacles in your way; instead of just running away from your problems before you tried to solve them. You were also able to make an enormous impact on your society by challenging the morals of those around you and by not letting others brainwash you and persuade you to give up on trying to stop the burning of books.
To be a real hero in society, I believe that the person must be willing to do anything for the better of society whether it be having enemies or going against loved ones. A true hero must also be able to know true right from wrong and not be brainwashed by people around them. A hero also must be able to think for theirself and be courageous in their actions. A hero must not be afraid of anyone or anything whether it be a person or an animal. You, Mr. Montag have all these values of a real hero. For example you were able to see the light and know that the burning of books was pointless despite what your loved ones and co workers said. Another example of your heroic traits was when you read the poem Dover Beach to Mildred's friends to show them that the way they've been living their lives were wrong. Even though it was highly illegal to do so, you took the...

...in the the world from losing their freedom and own minds. An education will also keep people active and involved in their surrounds. People will be able to know right from wrong and they will also be able to have the life that they truly wish to have. At home I will try to use my knowledge of science and health to help problem solve problems such as illness’. My education could help my country from getting corrupt and prevent my country to fall into a whole in which your society did. I will use my education to fight for freedom, self thought and real education. I will not let anything cause a decline to my society or let the citizens in my country be brainwashed by the government. I will put a stand against the government or anyone who tries to take away our human rights. Thanks to you Mr. Montag, I am determined to now sustain the state at which my country is in.
The word "hero" is so often used to describe people who overcome great difficulties and rise to the challenge that is set before them without even considering the overwhelming odds they are up against. In our culture, heroes are glorified in literature and in the media in various shapes and forms. However, I believe that many of the greatest heroes in our society never receive the credit that they deserve, much less fame or publicity. I believe that a hero is simply someone who stands up for what he/she believes in. A person does not have to rush into a burning building and save someone's life to be a hero. Someone who is a true friend can be a hero. A hero is someone who makes a difference in the lives of others simply by his/her presence. In Tim O'Brien's novel, The Things They Carried, the true heroes stand out in my mind as those who were true friends and fought for what they believed in. These men and women faced the atrocities of war on a daily basis, as explained by critic David R. Jarraway's essay, "'Excremental Assault' in Tim O'Brien: Trauma and Recovery in Vietnam War Literature" and by Vietnam Veteran Jim Carter. Yet these characters became heroes not by going to drastic measures to do something that would draw attention to themselves, but by being true to their own beliefs and by making a difference to the people around them.
What does having an education means to you? Did you know that recently The United States Children Fund (UNICEF) portal has stated that education transforms peoples’ lives and bust the cycle of poverty? Also have you ever thought about how the human kind desires a decent life with great privileges, such as education and no one argues about that?
While many people might think that because Guy Montag started out as a firefighter he can not be considered a ‘good guy’ or a hero, but it should be noted that his thoughts and actions are those of a person with good intentions despite starting out as a ‘bad guy’. In my first paragraph I will be stating reasons on why guy Montag should be considered a good guy or a hero. In the second paragraph I will state why his actions and thoughts do not make him a bad person. Lastly, I will state why Montag's actions and thoughts make him a good person.
Many great minds believe that education is a powerful tool. Investing in your education is the most valuable and most rewarding thing a person can do to secure their future. Influential people who have brought positive changes to the world have said: “The investment in knowledge pays the best interest”. (Franklin). “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. (Nelson Mandela). “A brighter future starts with an education”. (Montgomery).
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
In this essay I have only shown three, but there are so many more and the traits of a hero are not only restricted to people who save lives, chase bad guys, or change the world. He overcame constant pressures with his determination, led a whole team with his outstanding leadership, and never gave up thanks to his passion. He is a hero to many, no cape, or superpowers needed. So now it’s up to you, is he, or is he not, a
When someone mentions a hero people like Batman and Superman immediately pop into your head. A hero is constantly thought as someone with super powers that save the world, but that’s not always the case. An average person can become a hero with the right characteristics and mindset. The person must be kind, hardworking, perseverant, responsible, courageous, trustworthy, and a leader. You don’t have to save the whole world either; a simple action that impacts even just 1 person can make you a hero. Paul Revere showed all those characteristics and came to be one of the greatest heroes of our nation, the United States of America.
Overall I enjoyed reading this book, I read it a few years ago in high school, but I took more from it this time and was able to apply it more to my experiences and events I have witnessed. I’m glad the novel was assigned for me to read because it really made me think about the world today and how we interact in the world. It actually brought up questions and connections that I didn’t see when I read the book years ago. This novel will always be relevant and I’m sure will be read years from now.
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” The importance of an education is repeatedly shown through past and present events. Those who can’t afford an education do whatever it takes to try and learn. They know that it will lead to a better future for them. An education will not only lead to a job with more money, but it will also expand people’s minds. They will be able to create new ideas and inventions. The best way for us to change the world is through educating our youth. With a better education, they can become inspired to invent new things. Some could grow up to find cures to diseases. Educating the youth is the key to changing the world. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. The best way for us to give a good education to our youth is by refining our school system. We need to redefine the term ‘education.’ Teachers in classrooms change the world because they are teaching the future generation that will one day lead. If we want to change the world for the better, educating the youth is th...
Anyone can be a hero, if you stand up for what you believe is right and you aren’t just a bystander you are a hero. A hero takes chances and risks so that the outcome of their actions can come out positive. For example in text 2, What Really is a Hero? says that if you are being bullied, or you are being spoken to in a way that you don’t like than you may need a hero to protect you. Follow your conscious and except the right morals. Don’t just watch someone be violated; you should help him or her. Some people are cynical when it comes to doing what is right. Do not just do one good thing and expect to be ...
Heroism is defined as an act of courage and an act of selflessness. They reflect the highest levels of morality in society. Heroes have embodied the morality codes of civilizations throughout the ages. When heroes display courage, observers often identify with that courage. The refusal to take the easy way out and the ability to act in spite of fear, is what makes a person a hero. This is the way everyone wishes to react in the midst of a crisis. As witnessed in literature and real life, mankind needs heroes to provide an inspirational role model, an escape from the mundane, and a guide for morality.
... the world. If you learn of a problem, you have a duty to do something about it. We can transform society based on the critiques mentioned above. Education can be used as a service and activism. We must transcend the culture of silence. Education can be used as a tool of social justice. If we learn about social issues we sure as hell better stand up against them such as racism, sexism, and homophobia. Education as a whole can be used as an empowerment of the people. We can use education to inform the people to make their own decisions and break away from the brainwashing that is happening every day. All in all a properly educated person is not only dangerous and can help break this “reproduction of the status quo” but they understand that they have a responsibility to better their community. There is most definitely a positive outlook if we can make the change.
So a hero is something that isn't hard to be, You’ve seen heroes are all among us they just go unnoticed. Heros do not brag about what they’ve done for people they go unnoticed and they are selfless. And heroes aren't worried about being rewarded, their reward is the fact that they saved someone's life and risked theirs for it. These are the traits of heroism, this is what you want to be to help, save people when they need it. Heroism is about not expecting a reward for their job it is about being selfless and going unnoticed for everything they’ve done as a
Education is the key that allows people to move up in the world, seek better jobs, and ultimately succeed fully in life. Education is very important, and no one should be deprived of it. The right to an education is one of the human natural rights which every person should have from youth to when they are old. Human natural rights are fundamental privileges acquire from the rational nature of man and the natural moral. Right to an education is an inalienable right for it cannot be renounced or transferred because it is necessary for the fulfillment of one’s primitive obligation.
To quote a phrase from Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz, "Make me the master of education, and I will undertake to change the world." If we are to change the world simply because we have and continue to acquire the education necessary to increase knowledge; we must never forget education along without the practice of inducing what is learned is not enough to produce attainable results favorable to sustain a society in the 21st century. We must become the voice of the people by getting involved to make a difference in the world by putting into motion what we have learned.
