Paul Revere Characteristics

When someone mentions a hero people like Batman and Superman immediately pop into your head. A hero is constantly thought as someone with super powers that save the world, but that’s not always the case. An average person can become a hero with the right characteristics and mindset. The person must be kind, hardworking, perseverant, responsible, courageous, trustworthy, and a leader. You don’t have to save the whole world either; a simple action that impacts even just 1 person can make you a hero. Paul Revere showed all those characteristics and came to be one of the greatest heroes of our nation, the United States of America.

Paul Revere is mostly known for warning the Americans about the arrival of the British, but he was a hero long

before that. When Paul was only 19 years old his father passed away, leaving him in charge of his business and family. Paul cared for and supported his 6 younger siblings and his mother. In order to do so he had to become hardworking, perseverant, responsible, courageous, trustworthy, and a leader; all the characteristics of a true hero. At this time, Paul Revere was not a known person, but to his family he was considered their savior! The skills and characteristics he developed throughout this experience helped him become a hero not only for his family but for the whole nation.

was conquered by Britain, and it only consisted of Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia; nowadays known as the 13 colonies. Britain imposed outrageous taxes on the citizens of the 13 colonies and they couldn’t take it anymore. This affected everyone from farmers to merchants. Paul Revere was an engraver, dentist, and a master goldsmith. Even as his business did well he took notice of the economic situation around him and feared it would soon affect his business. As a result of this situation, he became more politically active. Paul Revere was one of the leaders who took part in the Boston Tea Party, in which he and others dressed as Native Americans and dumped British tea into the ocean. Not only did he take part in the Boston Tea Party but he also worked as a messenger for the Boston Committee of Correspondence and the Massachusetts Committee of Safety. One of his jobs was to warn the minutemen about the invasion of the British. He came up with a signal light system that initiated his ride to warn the American people about the incoming invasion. “The British are coming, the British are coming,” he yelled through the streets. This simple act saved countless lives because it allowed people to prepare for the fight that was coming, and it is remembered mostly because of the poem written by Henry Wadsworth

Paul Revere went from being a hero to his family to being a hero for a country. He led our citizens to rebel against the injustice of the British People and later on warned them about their invasion. He did all that while supporting his entire family and keeping his business alive. While caring for his family he showed kindness, trustworthiness, and responsibility; when he took part in the Boston Tea Party he showed courage and leadership; and when he rode for miles to warn the people about the British invasion he showed perseverance, and hard work, proving him to be a hero. Paul fought for what was right and was even willing to die for it. He managed to impact a whole country and become a hero without superpowers and began with only 7 people.
