Don’t Say A Word was what Nathan Conrad heard from his daughters’ kidnappers. This movie was intense and heart stopping. It all started out in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in November of 1991. Five men commit a bank robbery to steal one prize jewel. After the robbery, the five men split into two groups and took two different get-away vehicles. One vehicle had three men and the other had two men. The vehicle with two men contained “Jon Doe” (name never mentioned) and another anonymous man. These two men planned on stealing the jewel from their partners throughout the entire crime; they were successful in doing so. It showed the two men laughing and having a drink as they split open Jon Doe’s daughter; Elizabeth Burrows, doll to conceal the jewel inside of the doll, named Nilempha.
Ten years later the movie continues on with a well-known psychiatrist named Nathan Conrad on the day before Thanksgiving. One of Nathan’s previous co-workers paged him and said it was an emergency to come directly to the Bridgeview Psychiatric Hospital to see a patient named Elizabeth Burrows who has just sliced a man with a razor numerous times. Elizabeth had been institutionalized for the past ten years in twenty different institutes; this showed she was extremely disturbed.
When Nathan arrived at the Hospital, he met Elizabeth and found she had not eaten, had anything to drink, or spoken since her arrival. He also noticed she had numerous bruises and scars in areas known for suicide attempts. When she was a young girl she watched her father, Jon Doe, from the previous robbery brutally murdered in a subway. The other men, who helped him commit the crime found him, beat him and threw him in front of a subway train. The men who did this were arrested and tried, but were now out of prison and looking for her. This is why she stayed in the hospitals because she felt safe. He tried to speak to her and with no replies he began to walk out when she said, “You want what they want”, he turned and asked her what she meant. She repeated herself and then sang, “I’ll never tell”. With this Nathan grew curious as to who “they” were.
He stayed at the hospital until close to ten o’clock PM before returning home to his wife and eight-year-old daughter, Jessie.
I felt that we weren’t given enough information when we learned that Uncle Nathan didn’t save his fiancee. I wanted to know more from Nathan’s perspective rather than Maida’s mom; even though I knew what happened in the end, I needed to know why it ended that way. The book Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria Viramontes shows you the story of Estrella and her family and the struggles they face as migrant workers. Among all the symbolism in the book the one that stand out the most is Petra’s statue of Christ, which symbolizes the failure of religion and the oppressive nature of the Christian religion especially in minorities. Throughout the book, Estrella’s mother, Petra relies on superstitions and religion to get her through the hardships in life. In tough times, she turns to the statue and prays for guidance. Her thirteen-year-old daughter Estrella is the first of her family to realize that she needs to stop relying on religion and take control of her life. This brings in a wave of self-empowerment, not only for Estrella but eventually for all the characters as well. In the book, you’re able to see how religion exemplifies the failures of religion in minorities and how it hinders the growth of the characters while helping some of them.
The film gives a historical overview of how the mentally ill have been treated throughout history and chronicles the advancements and missteps the medical community has made along the way. Whittaker recounts the history of psychiatric treatment in America until 1950, he then moves on to describe the use of antipsychotic drugs to treat schizophrenia. He critically summarizes that it is doctors, rather than the patients, who have always calculated the evaluation of the merits of medical treatment, as the “mad” continue to be dismissed as unreliable witnesses. When in fact it is the patient being treated, and their subjective experience, that should be foremost in the evaluation. The film backs up this analysis with interviews of people, living viable lives in the town of Geel, Belgium. I would recommend this film to anyone interested in the history of medicine and specifically to those examining mental illness. It provides a balanced recounting of historical approaches to mental illness, along with success stories of the people of Geel, Belgium. When Elizabeth was first kidnapped in June of 2002, she had to experience the fear of a man waking her up with a knife to her throat who wanted her for his own selfish gain. Elizabeth was only 14 years-old when Brian David Mitchell came to kidnap her and make her his "wife" under the ploy that he was sent from God and had some a duty to fulfill. When Mitchell got her away from her home, using the threat of killing her family to make her leave quietly, he forced her up the mountains close to her home to the base camp where his wife, Wanda Barzee, was waiting. The greatest fear for Elizabeth at this point was what was going to happen to her.

Adolf Hitler wanted the Jewish race to be destroyed forever. But he didn’t just stop at beliefs. Even if you were a Christian, Catholic, Atheist, etc., you were still in danger. You were still in danger because if you looked Jewish to him then you were swooped up and taken hostage in a concentration camp.
Looking upon the crucifix where Jesus hangs, we have much to consider both historically and theologically. However, when this perspective is reversed and we look out from Jesus’ point of view, we see another side to the story.
For instance, Nathan exhibits the personality of a strict, religious man who strongly believes in traditional religion, specifically Baptism. Nathan acts out in abuse to his family when they do not follow his moral ideals, especially out of his selfishness and cowardliness. These traits illustrate Nathan to a wrathful god who is quick to discipline and punishment. Nathan only try to save unbaptized persons for his own well being, in order to secure a spot in heaven, even if it destroys the lives of others around him, including his wife and daughters.

Many people including Adolf Hitler in Germany blamed the Jews for the country’s defeat in WWI. Hitler was also obsessed with the idea of the “Aryan,” which was supposedly the “perfect” German race. The Germans believed that the Jews were going against the Germans in WWI and for this, they decided to exterminate the Jews. They believed that if they destroyed the Jews, they would probably win other wars. This also caused Hitler into thinking that there was an actual perfect German race (Aryan) that would help Germany achieve that goal. Another reason was because Hitler wanted to increase the Nazis status, Hitler used the weakness of his enemy’s as a weapon to make the Nazis gain more power. (History.com). Girl Interrupted is a film about a young woman, Susanna Kaysen, who voluntarily enters a psychiatric facility in Massachusetts. The purpose of this paper is to analyze a portrayal of psychiatric care in the 1960’s. The film is based on the memoirs of Susanna Kaysen and her experiences during an 18 month stay at a mental institution. During her visit, Susanna is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. The film depicts psychiatric care, diagnoses, and treatments from a different era.

In this report we will deal with Crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. This report we'll have as bible text the gospel of Matthew 27:32-50, and these verses will be analyzed verse by verse. It's very great to observe that all gospels talk about Jesus' Crucifixion in a larger section than others events from his life. There is a great reason: for Jesus this last part of his work means the finishing God's plan of salvation.
