DodgeBall: Hit or Miss?
Dodge ball is a game that at some time in our lives we all played, whether it was in elementary school at recess or in middle school during a physical education class. Dodge ball was one of those games that no one would ever consider to someday become a Hollywood movie. Some would think it to be a ridiculous idea, but this was an idea for a smash hit comedy. Who knew that one day a game we once played and still play could be so hilarious that as an audience we would want to watch a comedy about it. DodgeBall is a great sports comedy; hence this is a movie that can be watched by the entire family. DodgeBall: A true underdog story is an extremely creative film that deserves to be watched.
Imagine playing a game of dodge ball against the toughest kids in the school. How well do you think that you would do? Would you over come or would you lose and run away, never trying to show how strong you really are? In the movie DodgeBall, you have the tough guys of Globo Gym against the weaker guys of Average Joe?fs gym. The tough guys of Globo gym are led by White Goodman who is played by Ben Stiller (Meet the parents, Along came Polly). On the Average Joe team we have Peter LaFleur played by Vince Vaughn (Anchorman), Justin played by Justin Long (Ed), dodge ball legend Patches O'Houlihan played by Rip Torn, and Catherine Beach played by Christine Taylor. The movie has an amazing group of people that have the ability to make you laugh for hours.
?gIf you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball.?h That is one of the many statements are by Patches O?fHoulihan. This movie is filled to the top with raunchy, hilarious, and subtle jokes throughout the movie. The movie has a lot of what some would call immature humor such as Justin Long not catching any of the balls thrown at him; instead he took them all to the groin or the head. Long alone keeps you laughing almost as if your gut is going to bust. Vaughn?fs character helps to keep the audience laughing by all of his subtle jokes. For example when Peter meets up with White they discuss all of the horribly funny things that Peter did to him.
Slap Shot effectively documented the struggle that all minor league hockey players possessed during a tough time in hockey history. Furthermore, Slap Shot reinforced my perception that sports is a positive experience. Slap Shot is relatable as it documented the love for the game we all possess. Even though the Chiefs were not a great team, many of the players still played simply for their love of the game. While I’m sure they all had aspirations to be successful, playing the game they love with their friends was the most rewarding experience ever. Ultimately, Slap Shot documented the underdog that overcame adversity by changing strategies and personnel.
As I said earlier the game dodgeball prepares you for real life situations such as other sports, work life, and the truth. Football Vince Lombardi once put it this way: “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.”. I feel this is a great quote because it describes exactly why this game teaches you how to handle life
Dodgeball was born over 200 years ago in Africa, where they used rocks to throw at each other and worked together as a team. The game is still played today and uses the same aspect of teamwork, but foam balls are used instead of rocks. Many people think that dodgeball is still too violent and shouldn’t exist. Dodgeball should not be banned in schools because it has health benefits, offers a challenge, and lets students look forward to going to school.
The phrase, “How’d this get so fucked up so quick,” that is spouted out halfway through Interesting Ball is something that viewers of the short film will be saying almost immediately as the film starts, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This short film, brought to us by recently acclaimed directing duo otherwise known as DANIELS (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), is worth the watch and the thought afterwards. Both comedic and emotional, Interesting Ball is a short film not afraid to take its audience on a roller coaster of feelings.
According to the book, World Religions Today, by John L. Esposito, Darrell J. Fasching, and Todd Lewis, under the section entitled The Sacred, it states that religion “expresses our sense of being “tied and bound” by relations of obligation to whatever powers we believe govern our destiny-whether these powers be natural or supernatural, personal or impersonal, one or many” (9). Furthermore, the book World Religions Today, by John L. Esposito, Darrell J. Fasching, and Todd Lewis, states that the religions of various people over the years or centuries have proven to be essentially as diverse as the types or forms of power that people essentially believe govern human destiny. In which these types or forms of power “ have ranged from gods as forces of nature to the unseen ancestral spirits or spirits associated with sacred places, to more impersonal sacred forces or energies; or finally the mysterious power(s) that govern history (including the seemingly secular powers associated with wealth and politics that get treated as if “sacred”) (9). Therefore, according to this logic religion then can be anything that creates a following that people can be tied and bound to, which can include how religion can be seen as something such as power, money, or even fame. Thus it can be argued that under these conditions of what a religion can consist of, it would be safe to say that a major professional sport such as baseball can also have the sufficient requirements or conditions needed for it to be considered as a religion as well. Therefore it can be argued that baseball in and of itself is a religion due to the fact that just like other types of religions baseball creates a following that people can be tied and bounded to. Baseball also, just ...
The Fight Club, directed by David Fincher, constructs an underground world of men fighting with one another to find the meaning to their lives. Ed Norton and Brad Pitt are the main characters who start the fight club. They make a set of rules that everyone must follow. The fight club exists because individuals get weighted down by possessions, causing them to miss the deep meaning of life. Most of the people in the fight club hold service jobs or lower level management jobs that are meaningless.
Due to the limited amount of students on the IEP caseload at the Troy School #2, there is no extended school year program for occupational therapy. Through the handout provided to the families, it gave them the opportunity to carryover their child’s skills through the summer. AOTA recognizes social participation as patterns of behaviors that are expected of an individual (AOTA, 2014). Providing play that is both structured and unstructured allows for the child experience a variety of opportunities with their peers. The social participation of a child begins within the family. Family relationships should be the most stable and long lasting for a child. The definition of family has changed over the years, and may differ in meaning depending on the individual (Mulligan, 2014). A strong support system within the family provides the foundation for fostering the development of a child’s sense of

Currently, I am developing the manuscript summarizing the results of this study for publication. In addition, the results of this study were used to develop my dissertation study. The dissertation study aims to investigate the effect of sensory diets on children’s sensory processing skills, psychosocial skills, and engagement in classroom activities in children between ages of four to eleven years attending kindergarten to the fourth-grade class. I finished recruiting the participants for the study this month and scheduled to begin data collection in January
Although result suggests the effectiveness of SSTP, more well-defined studies that address the above limitations are required to further solidified the evidence in favour of SSTP. For example, to overcome selection bias, participants of future studies could be recruited through social services reasonable for dealing with families with special needs children. Likewise, issues with self-reports and observations could be circumvented by involving a third-party, for examples, teachers and independent observers. Finally, it is important that future research establish the mechanism(s) through which SSTP functions to obtain its effectiveness, or which session(s) of the program contribute its effectiveness. This is important in terms of resources

Moneyball is an inspirational movie centered on the character of Oakland Athletics’ general manager, Billy Beane, a former baseball player who was faced with rebuilding an underfunded team that always had their best players constantly robbed by wealthier club. Driven by his hatred of losing, Beane realises the need to radically change how the players are scouted, evaluated and managed if he wants to succeed. Beane became more persuaded to turn the team around after he met with Peter Brand, an economist working as a scout on another team who advised him that he should hire players based on key performance statistics that pointed to undervalued players and immediately believed he’d found the man who understands how to reverse the system of assessing players. However, as the duo begin to acquire players that seem too old,
However, after reviewing our interview transcripts, and considering my peer’s issue, I believe that Goal Setting Theory would be the most applicable theory for solving my peer’s problem. In 1960s, Edwin A. Locke first proposed this theory, and then this theory has been developed. Locke and Latham referred (1990) that goal specificity is positively related to subsequent performance, and many following studies also indicate that there are a high correlation between these two variables.
