My piece is a delicate one. It is tiled "Make America Bloody Again." This shows the war between survivors of the apocalypse and the violent zombies. Although, there's a war going on, and I assumed it can be one of the american wars. Therefore, a slogan: "Make America Great Again" was reversed to "Make America Bloody Again" as an irony. However, there's a lot happening, and I wanted my viewer to feel out of order; typically distracted by all of the subject matter. Accordingly, I didn't color my piece and refined the texture to a sketchy
Robert H. Clancy in his speech, “An “Un-American Bill”: A Congressman Denounces Immigration Quotas” effectively describes how the Johnson Reed Act affected immigration. Clancy’s purpose is to inform people in the racial discrimination of the immigration act in 1924. He adopts a serious tone and strong feeling in order to provide proof to the intended audience. Robert H. Clancy uses sufficient pathos with many examples throughout the text, many logos were used clearly and ethos was provided effectively.
The visual I have created is meant to display how the author Seven Galloway effectively used descriptive language and imagery in the novel The Cellist of Sarajevo to demonstrate character development in Dragan, one of the protagonists. For instance, in the first image moving forward from the 12’oclock section of the clock, we can see an image of Dragan in Sarajevo with the intent of setting the mood of war, where “everything around him is a peculiar shade of grey”. This imagery is meant to display not only the visual cast set upon Sarajevo in a time of war, but also to show Dragan’s internal demeanor and how he initially perceives the world around him, while the idea of a ‘grey’ world surrounding him outlines his pessimistic worldview. These ideas are also manifest in the following image, where we
1. What is the name of the document? Ida Tarbell Criticizes Standard Oil (1904) 2. What type of document is it? (newspaper, map, image, report, Congressional record, etc.)
After American colonialists had succeeded in over throwing British rule, the thirteen states were troubled by a complicated dilemma, an economic crisis with some calling for tax relief while others demanded stringent fiscal enforcement. Some believed that the revolution had not gone far enough, while others believed it had gone too far. The Framers who created the American Constitution took on the task of appeasing these two seemingly incongruous views. Woody Holton, in Unruly Americans and the Origins of the Constitution, attempts to reveal how the Framers acted in favour of those who believed the Revolution had gone too far, while trying to appease the majority – American farmers – were in favour of more democracy.
In the Supreme Court case of the New York Times Co. vs. United States there is a power struggle. This struggle includes the entities of the individual freedoms against the interests of federal government. It is well known that the first amendment protects the freedom of speech, but to what extent does this freedom exist. There have been instances in which speech has been limited; Schenck vs. United States(1919) was the landmark case which instituted such limitations due to circumstances of “clear and present danger”. Many have noted that the press serves as an overseer which both apprehends and guides national agenda. However, if the federal government possessed the ability to censor the press would the government restrain itself? In the case of the Pentagon Papers the necessities of individual freedoms supersedes the scope of the national government.
The Murderers Are Among Us, directed by Wolfe Gang Staudte, is the first postwar film. The film takes place in Berlin right after the war. Susan Wallner, a young women who has returned from a concentration camp, goes to her old apartment to find Hans Mertens living there. Hans took up there after returning home from war and finding out his house was destroyed. Hans would not leave, even after Susan returned home. Later on in the film we find out Hans was a former surgeon but can no longer deal with human suffering because of his traumatic experience in war. We find out about this traumatic experience when Ferdinand Bruckner comes into the film. Bruckner, Hans’ former captain, was responsible for killing hundreds
My main image is a display of a red blood cell because that’s what Eisenmenger Syndrome is in a nut shell, a congenital heart defect (hole in the heart) that is made up of actual red blood cells. I felt that this image was very fitting for my topic because that is essentially what my research was about. I choose the image tiles that I did because Eisenmenger’s Syndrome occurs in babies and is discovered during birth. Also, I like to further my research on topics such as this one because I hope to have kids one day, so the more knowledge I have on the different types of congenital diseases the healthier my future children might be. Through these specific tiles, I’m trying to convey the fact that Eisenmenger’s Syndrome is an extremely rare disease that occurs in babies because it is a congenital defect and I wanted to learn more about the disease as well as placing awareness on
Law and Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit) and Bones were the two shows I decided to watch for analyzing content. The reason more than one show was picked was because I wanted a little variety in the information and data I was receiving. Different shows are going to provide different information and provide different data. These two shows covered a wide spectrum of crime shows and would be helpful in providing variety in the data collection process. My topic of choice was gender and how gender roles are portrayed in these television shows. I chose Law and Order: SVU and Bones because they portray two very different versions of crime shows. Law and Order: SVU is a crime show that shows the police side of the crime process. This show deals specifically with the arrest, fact-finding process, and trial process of a crime. It does not deal with the scientific aspect of determining how victims were killed or hurt. Bones in contrast, is not entirely focused on the arrest and trial process but more specifically focuses on the scientific and anthropological aspect of determining facts in a crime scenario. Although the show does have some of the police actions involved, its main focus is on science. In conjunction with this idea, I find these two shows the most enjoyable to watch and was curious about how they portrayed gender roles. The question was whether they would be similar or not.
I chose to write about the artwork titled “Mule Deer Still Life” by Angela Prond. The artwork is oil on a canvas board. The artwork is a picture of a mule deer skull with its horns still attached. This picture reminds me of hunting, because I do a lot of it and I have shot mule deer before and saved their horns exactly like this picture is. Angela’s title for the artwork makes me believe that she is saying this mule deer still has life and meaning. There is not a lot of background in this artwork, pretty much just the mule deer skull and horns. She did this for a reason, even though the picture is pretty normal and there is not much detail to it, there is more meaning in her title for the picture.
consequently, three rednecks attacked Corso by hitting his head, which affects him.He seeks for revenge and starts looking for them but he never find them. “There is no time to think. There is only time to do or let die!” Professor Mark M. Ravitch: “If you cannot figure out a patient's problems, maybe someone else can!”and Raphael Adar “When you encounter massive bleeding, the first thing to remember is that it is not your blood!”
First of all, I do not side with Charles Blow in his article, “The Flag Is Drenched With Our Blood,” because of how biased his article was. Although Blow presented numerous amounts of evidence of how America has abused African Americans, the author did not present any hard hitting evidence from the 21st century. It is common knowledge that blacks were abused in the past and the author basically just gave his audience a big recap of what we did, not how we changed and have improved. Nonetheless, I do believe that the killings of blacks by cops and people killing cops is atrocious and fair political action should be taken to meet this social issue. On the other political spectrum, Heather Mac Donald presented some current evidence that does
Throughout the novel the theme of blood is often mentioned. The blood has various meanings, but overall it signifies part of his identity. It is Bính’s blood that grounds him to his origins and I argue that it represents his life in Vietnam as something that he can never run away from. Vietnam will follow him wherever he goes and for that reason he will never quite fit in anywhere else.
The challenge I originally faced was the lack of responses from primary sources, such as Jess Clark from MultiplicityAndMe, an individual female who possessed five male alters – illustrating what healthy relationships look like in a ‘system’. Responding to my first enquiry, her interview looked promising but fell through after I received no comments after that. Soon after beginning my source analysis, I decided to email a family relative who suffered with the disorder and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), who listed several credible and experienced professionals throughout their website. This was a good decision as I turned a challenge into an advantage by persevering and using my research skills to my benefit, the outcome providing me with invaluable information.
In my opinion, it's a very difficult question and I can see from both sides. On one hand, I think that in a case like Nazis wanting to march the streets of America, that insinuates violence and is threatening Jewish people everywhere. It’s wrong, not just because Nazis are horrible people, but because it can cause fear and panic to Jewish people. 11 million people died in the Holocaust and letting Nazis, who supported this, march is not free speech. Its hateful and causes violence.
