Diversity makes a society unique. It helps men and women bring different ideas and perspectives in a workplace. It makes the younger generation connect and learn from the older generation. Different ethnicities come together to work, discover, and innovate. Diversity is adapting to different people. However, diversity is disliked by a few people and has become a problem today. As a result, certain employers and school administrators put an emphasis on the importance of diversity. Everybody who took diversity training had faced internal and external factors that paved a way for their decision to go through the training.

“[Seventy-nine percent] of organizations indicated that they use some of diversity training” (Madera, King, and Hebl 79). This huge percentage goes to show that organizations have a huge influence on diversity training programs. Furthermore, “many Fortune 500 organizations have publicly recognized the importance of education and training university students on the skills and abilities to interact with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures” (Madera, King, and Hebl 79). Companies put so attention to university students and they use so much effort into molding students into the character they want them to be once they graduate. These companies want these students to have the ability to adapt to different environments and ideas. Universities such as University of California and Duke University, and organizations such as Hyatt Hotels and IBM has a diversity-training programs, which has been a standard to the university and the organizations (Madera, King, and Hebl 80). Companies and universities have already implemented these programs which makes the students and employees to feel inclined to take these classes. “If a set of skills could be identified for working in a diverse environment, this information would be useful in hiring people who have these skills, training people who need them, evaluating employees on their use, and promoting and rewarding those who use these skills well in furthering the organization’s mission” (Hays-Thomas, Bowen, and Boudreaux 129). Diversity skills is valuable for the employer to have so he or she can see use a different approach for each different individual.
