If I were to be born into a specific faction, I believe I would most likely relate with the Dauntless group. This faction believes in its members being brave and showing random acts of bravery with everything they do. This includes standing up for other people and also standing up for what you believe in and what you know is right. The Dauntless manifesto states, “We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another… We believe in shouting for those who can only whisper, in defending those who cannot defend themselves.” My parents’ leadership roles throughout their lives would wear off on me and I believe this is the faction that I most likely would be born into.
At my choosing ceremony, I would most likely want to be a Dauntless member, whether I was born into the faction or not. First, playing sports has made me a brave and almost fearless person. I think that getting involved in extracurricular activities such as athletics forces you to carve out time to work on your sport as well as your school and anything else you are involved in. Sometimes you have to make cutthroat, quick decisions. When you are a leader on your team, you can’t afford to be weak and afraid of your opponent. In the book, it clearly shows that the Dauntless are the best fighters and I believe that is because they are not afraid to fail or lose. They put everything out on the line and work as hard as they can to achieve a common goal. I believe I do this on a daily basis and I would fit right into the Dauntless faction.
Another reason why I believe I am part of the Dauntless is because of how good they are at defending their own. The Dauntless faction consists of the people who guard the fence making sure not...

I would feel a little bit uneasy about making a decision that would determine my life’s course at the age of sixteen. My goal would be to simply think about the type of person I am and the values I believe in. I relate very closely with both of my parents, so I would definitely be influenced by whichever faction they were part of. I would also really like to stay with them and fight with them for as long as possible, and I would not be able to do that if I was in a different faction. Sometimes when teenagers make decisions, such as getting a tattoo, they regret it later on in life. I would hope this is not the case for me after I chose my faction. Overall, if I were to be born into a specific faction, I strongly believe I would be part of the Dauntless. The qualities and characteristics of these members most closely relate to me and it would be a great fit.
