1. 3 functions of operating systems are as follow:
a) Manage the computer resources such as central processing unit,
memory, disk drives and printer. In other words it acts like a
translator which allows the application software to communicate with
the computer hardware.
b) Caretaker which making sure that date is saved in the right place,
programs are loaded into memory properly and that the computer's
filing system is all kept in order.
c) Execute and provide services for applications software in other
words as system tools (programs) used to monitor computer performance,
debug problems, or maintain parts of the system. A set of libraries or
functions which programs may use to perform specific tasks especially
relating to interfacing with computer system components.
2. 3 factors affecting the choice of an operating system are as
follow:
a) Choice of processor and hardware for example if server machine is a
Sun computer then will be forced to use Solaris which is Sun's version
of UNIX.
b) A hardware or software protocol, contained in the electronics of
the disk controller and disk drive, that manages the exchange of data
between the drive and computer. The most common interfaces for small
computer systems are AT (IDE) and SCSI.
c) Compatibility of computer networks types including LANs and WANs,
for example UNIX and Window NT are usually use to become the mainframe
of WANs networking system.

a)Multi tasking - In a multitasking operating system where multiple
programs can be running at the same time, the operating system
determines which applications should run in what order and how much
time should be allowed for each application before giving another
application a turn. Examples of multi tasking operating system are
UNIX and Window 2000.
b)Multi processing - An operating system capable of supporting and
utilizing more than one computer processor for example Linux, UNIX,
Windows 2000.
c)Multi user - A multi user operating system allows for multiple users

Not long ago computers were non-existent in many homes. When computers were first introduced to the world, they were for the sole purpose of performing business functions. The only people who owned computers were large organizations. Eventually, computers were introduced into the homes of those who could afford to buy them. Today, just about everyone owns some form of system that they use daily to help manage their day-to-day operations. What many once survived without now seems impossible to do without. As technology continues to grow, it has a greater effect on families and the education system. Some companies such as Microsoft and Apple made it possible to reinvent a new form of technology that would change the world. Each company had some form of struggle and overtime had to keep up with the changes of time and the way people communicated. From the first day of its invention, organizations have had to steadily implement new operating systems to keep up with the demands of the people while staying afloat with competitors. The ways of life for many have changed as well as the way people communicate. It is evident that the history and uses of computers have changed the world but these computers could not perform without the operating systems. Various operating systems will be discussed, how they began and how they each changed since they were first introduced. Although, they all had a purpose each varied in how they performed and changed the lives of many and will continue in the near future.

Although they are the leading PC operating system, they have struggled with many of their efforts, including smartphone hardware and software, mobile computing, cloud-based software apps, and its Internet portal. Although, Microsoft’s offering, Bing, has about 2.5% of the search market (Laudon & Laudon 2014).
The significance of the role of the Operation System (OS) in the overall Information Technology employment sector cannot be undervalued. Indeed, it is hard to talk about technical skill-sets or the practical application of such skill-sets without at least some underlying understanding of their context within a computer operating system environment. From hardware specifications and requirements, user technical support, system administration and security, to software development and system implementation, operating systems are an integral part of the information technology and computing world in all its aspects, and it is difficult to form a concrete demarcation between specialized careers in this industry and the concept of the computer operating system.
In America, human throws 100 millions phones every year. According to the EPA report, over 112,000 are rejected per day in USA. Moreover, there are 20 millions televisions go to the trash every year. However, there are only 13% of e-wastes can be recycled in the right way (Levin, n.d.). In addition, in 2014, the electronic wastes were higher than ever. There was 41.8 million tons of e-waste in 2014, such as, televisions, washing machines, vacuum and other electrical goods. The electronic wastes have increased 39.8 million from 2013 to 2014. As we all may know, Windows Microsoft has always been a commercial high-level sale in the retail industry and an in domain operating system used today. But there are more operating systems than just Windows Microsoft than the general population may assume. Linux is another well-known operating systems, which is free and open-source software. Linux is also used in companies we would have never thought of like Google, NASA, USPS, Amazon and many more companies. Linux and Microsoft operating systems have been in competition to see which one is the best operating system in the market. There are so many resemblances

Electronic Waste is the disposal of any kind of technology which ultimately produces hazardous radiation that is lethal both for the environment and to people who expose themselves to this waste. Since 1992 worldwide society has been becoming increasingly aware of the dangers of Electronic Waste. People are throwing away so much because manufacturers of phones, computers, laptops, televisions and ipods are making and constantly updating technology as there is such a large demanding consumerist society and businesses that have an unceasing amount of money to make. People buy and discard so much so often to have the newest and the best technology has to offer - which leaves the issue of Electronic Waste.
