Discipleship in Mark's Gospel
In the world today, discipleship in Mark’s Gospel is being used as a
guide to the modern disciple. The disciples in Mark’s Gospel are good
role models for Christians today. Disciples were taught to care for
one another and always put others before themselves; this is reflected
in Christians today. An example of a disciple like this is Bob Geldof
who is a good role model who helped raise money by using his talent
and the talent of others. Another example of disciples like this is
the organisation Amnesty International who together fight for the
rights of others.
In the calling of the disciples Jesus chose twelve men, he did not
chose men of status or wealth he chose men with faith. This is
reflected in modern Christian life how we too can be called into
religious order or priesthood, we all answer a call at baptism to
become a Christian, a disciple of Christ. In this we have to be a good
role model to all Christians, in doing this we can do simple things
like praying or going to mass and ...
become and better follower of the Lord but more importantly then that a better being as a whole.
However, you could learn moral goodness, but, that it is a result of habit. The only way to improve is with time, practice, and encouragement. Also if somebody is not virtuous or does not have good morals, they just need a better teacher or need to practice it more.

To be a true disciple of Jesus one must not disown or deny Jesus but
Engagement with others is the most fertile ground for spiritual growth. Yet, salvation cannot come through individual questing nor good works in the community of the world alone. Salvation can only come when the journey and the work become
Mark's Gospel and Nature of Discipleship In Mark's Gospel, there are many accounts of Jesus' disciples and Apostles which are helpful to Christians as examples of the nature of discipleship. In this part of my coursework essay I hope to address questions involving what Mark's Gospel tells us about Jesus' disciples and Apostles, as well as defining the principle of what being a disciple entails, and defining also who the apostles were. This is because by learning about past disciples and the Apostles, a modern disciple of the Church can learn about the nature of discipleship. A disciple is somebody who is inspired enough by somebody to learn about them, listen to their ideas and follow them and their way of life.
who "does what God wants them to do". This simply means that if we put

One of the main characteristics of the gospel of Mark is it’s length. Mark is much shorter than Matthew and Luke, but what it lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality. The author of Mark does not slow down the gospel story and makes sure that only important and relevant details are included. When Mark is compared with Matthew and Luke, it becomes obvious to see what Mark has eliminated. The author’s omission of Jesus’ birth, lineage, resurrection, and ascension denote careful planning and purpose in the gospel of Mark.
Being able to be around another person who is doing virtuous acts rather than doing virtuous acts by one’s self, gives the good man more realization that he is in fact an excellent person.
What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.
When Jesus asked his disciples about what people thought about him, they answered that some considered Jesus to be e prophet, some - John the Baptist. But Jesus wanted his disciples to understand his mission, the reason why God brought him to Earth. That is why it was important for him to make sure that people realize who he is and that his sayings are vital for the whole mankind. Jesus was the Messiah, the anointed one, above all other prophets. He was sent to suffer for the all human beings and the reasons why his suffering was necessary are described in Mark's Gospel 8:27-9:1.
Respect Others (Luke 14:11): "For everyone who makes himself great will be humbled, and everyone who humbles himself will be great." The passage teaches us mainly about helping others if they need help.
Being a good person is something that everyone strives to do. For most, it is a subconscious thing we do. For others being a good person is a way of life, not just a superficial “look at me and what I do,” but a deep spiritual understanding that everything one does in their daily life is beneficial to others around that person.
