Introduction
I view a leader as a dependable person that motivates and encourages others to perform to the best of their ability. Being a leader means you lead by example so that others are inspired to follow you (Cite). Leaders exist in our everyday lives, regardless if they assume the title or not. Some of these leaders are family, peers, friends, co-workers and professors. Modeling leaders and training in different areas at my past jobs have allowed me to excel in areas of communication, customer service and time management. These individuals gave me the drive to be a better person and achieve excellent results doing everyday tasks. It turns out I am a natural born leader and in recent years I am always chosen as the group leader on group projects. My personality type embodies the gifts of charisma, confidence and project authority in a way that draws people together behind a common goal (Cite). I enjoy taking on a challenge and I work well under pressure. Furthermore, I can be directive leader (Cite) to team members who do not complete their assigned tasks on time. On the other hand, I am often supportive and helpful to team members who are having difficulties with their part of the project (Cite). However, I remember my early childhood consisted mainly of reading books, pretty much whatever I could get my hands on. My favourite books were the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy’s collection. I participated in extracurricular activities at school but I never volunteered for a leadership position as I was very soft-spoken and shy. I was very attentive in primary school with my favourite subject being mathematics that I excelled greatly it. My fifth-grade teacher saw my potential and signed me up for a math competition in my region where our team placed second. This was my first chance competing at a national level and the success boost my confidence level to get involved in other activities. I joined the school athletics team and I was team leader at my community church youth group. I was often told that I was the smallest in the group but when I spoke I got everyone’s attention including the adults. My athletics team coach left us on our own most of the time so that we were able to work independently and supervise the newer members of the team. My second favourite part of high school was visual arts class. This was where all creativity and imaginations came to life and the instructors were our number one fan. I remember being able to create art portfolios and display them for the rest of the school to view. Having friends stop by after school or on break time to view our creativity inspired me. This type of motivation encouraged me to work harder and achieve more. I also realized that I was a very fast learner and my peers often looked to me to explain coursework that they were having difficulty with. My peers inspired me form an after-school group that provided a helping hand to others who needed it. I was a well-known to most of my instructors and I was often asked to provide assist in their classes. Based on the leadership test I took online, I was deemed to be a charismatic leader (Cite). I envision a clear direction and communicate plans in a way that gets everyone on board. My charismatic leadership trait allows me to convince and persuade others
