In his article “Dinner is printed” . JACOBS describe his experience with 3D printing. He decided to investigate the hype over 3D printing, which intensities by the day, however, even after his investigation, it remains unclear whether only a silent background revolution will take place or if this technology will actually change the world;.

The author's plan was to immerse himself in the world of 3D printing and live for a week using nothing but 3-D-printed objects in order to judge the technology's potential and pitfalls. He conduct a research and found out that living in this manner, even for a week is too expensive, so he settled on the idea of creating only a 3-D-printed meal

The first part of making his meal achievable was buying a 3D printer and a cartridge of plastic, which cost him a fair amount of money.

the second part was making the dinner dishes and cutlery such as plates, forks and cups .
As the author finds out, the process of modeling, even the “simplest” objects to print is not easy at all and time consuming because many things can go wrong along the way

After unsuccessfully trying to produce all the objects on his own, Jacobs eventually decided to ask for help from professionals in order to complete his task. Those professionals, lead by doctor Lipson created all the models needed for the dinner in an italian style, at their company named “Shapeways”.

When the dinner day has arrived, the writer once again calls his tech team because his printer can only print plastic and not food.
The team had some limitations as not every type of food can be printed. The food had to be something processed because of scientific constraints.
The final decision for the dinner menu was pizza in the shape of Italy, pasta and panna
