Introduction: It is important nowadays to speak English fluently as it is an international language. Many learners of English language learn speaking English fluency for many purposes, ex: for academic purposes, professional purposes or purposes of advancement. The problem is to speak English fluency, you should have a good pronunciation. Through this paper I will be discussing pronunciation in English language, covering the following points:

Since the two languages belong to two simple different linguistic families. Moreover, mother tongue and inconsistency of some English sounds are also factors that influence learning English pronunciation. These difficulties lead to mispronunciation. For instance: the Arabic and English phonological systems are totally different, not only in the range of sounds used, but in the emphasis placed on vowels and consonants in meaning. While English has 22 vowels and diphthongs, Arabic has only eight vowels and diphthongs. I met a group of learners of English language have some difficulties in English pronunciation. They told me that whenever they spoke to a native speaker, he/she kept asking them what? What? They would repeat their sentence several times. Finally he/she would say ah-ha! And then repeat their sentence, using their same words. My Egyptian friends face certain problems related to pronunciation. They confuse between /p/ and /b/ e.g. words like (pie-buy). They pronounce /b/ instead of /p/ and vice verse. They replace sounds that they don’t have in their native language with other sounds which are close to them. They substitute /P/ with /B/ in words like (Rip- Rib), /θ/ with /S/ in word like (thing - sing), /ʧ/ with /ʃ/ in words like (choose- shoes), /v/ with /f/ in words like (van - fan), / θ / …show more content…

First: Watch an English movie. You should begin watching with subtitles, this help you to practice your listening, speaking and reading. Then try to watch without subtitles. Second: Watch real programs in English such as talk shows, documentaries and news. This will help to observe speed, intonation and stress. Moreover, it will help to absorb a lot of natural English. Thirdly: Listen to songs, radio and CDs helps to comes up with more examples as your practice conversation. Fourthly: Try to practice as much as you can. Short constant practice is much better for learning than long periods. Practice and speak English whenever you can.
