If every other sub product was perfect, they would be useless without somewhere to stay. The tourist experience would still be good if the entertainment or conference/ convention facilities were not perfect or non-existent. When a tourist destination has great food places and attractions they need a place to stay so they can complete all their dream attractions and activities during their time away. If a destination has good accommodation they also need a basic infrastructure and transport for visitors to access the destination such as flying or a taxi from the airport. The geothermal history is fascinating to visitors, the Rotorua museum used to be a bath house before being shut down in 1966. The Rotorua bath house was once a world famous spa that offered mineral baths which were said to cure various ailments, there were personal spas and also big pools which were used for people with chronic disorders, woman were treated on one side and men on the other. The water was pumped directly from nearby thermal springs and used in the spas, pools and massage rooms. This was very popular with tourists’ throughout New Zealand and overseas and during its peak the spa gave 60,000 to 80,000 baths annually and about 30,000 special treatments. Rotorua is also rich in Maori culture and have many options for visitors who want to experience the full Maori welcome, they have the Mitai Maori village which offers a show about Maori myths and legends then you eat a traditional Maori meal before going into the bush to see a waka being taken down the stream and the glow worms. There are world famous geysers which are set off by an experienced guide who explains the importance of the geyser and how the geothermal parks work. There are so many ways to witness geothermal activity, they have small pools near bus stations and in the street which are fed by underground springs and you can put your hands or feet in to feel the heat. There is a park near central city which has mud pools scattered throughout the native wildlife which you can discover in your own
