The Sandia Mountains named after a watermelon in Spanish because of the red light that shines over them in the evening. Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, it’s great for an afternoon hike. We decide to drive to the mountains and arrived at around 2 pm. The skies were clear and a very bright blue. We unpacked our gear from the car and started hiking on the trail. Walking on the rocky trail was hard and tiring but the views were great. There were areas that were very grassy and green and others that seemed very dry. Our trail wasn’t on the green side. We were surrounded by old trees and spotted lots of cacti. We would also see a few squirrels here and there. Our trail had a view of the other side of the mountain which was stunning. We
hiked up a little higher and were able to see the city. The feeling of being so high up was amazing. The skies were starting to darken a bit but it was still so beautiful. Going back down was a bit scary but we still got many chances to see the city. The trail we chose started a bit higher up so we didn’t go down the entire mountain. The sun was starting to set in quickly so we had to hurry a bit. We didn’t want to hike in the dark. We made it down and got back to our car. Before we got inside, we could see the red/pink light from the sun setting. The sunset from the mountain was very pretty and also a bit relaxing. Right then, we understood why it was named the Sandia Mountains. I hope everyone has a chance to come to Albuquerque and see the sunset with their own eyes.
By noon they had begun to climb toward the gap in the mountains. Riding up through the lavender or soapweed, under the Animas peaks. The shadow of an eagle that had set forth from the line of riders below and they looked up to mark it where it rode in that brittle blue and faultless void. In the evening they came out to upon a mesa that overlooked all the country to the north... The crumpled butcher paper mountains lay in sharp shadowfold under the long blue dusk and in the middle distance the glazed bed of a dry lake lay shimmering like the mare imbrium. (168)
The mountain range in this picture is the Elk mountains. The Elk mountains are a range of dome mountains. These dome mountains are batholiths which means a large intrusion of magma bulged up into the earth crust and bushed up a bunch of land to create a mountain range. When dome mountains erode, things like cuestas, hogbacks and flatirons are formed.
The spectacular mountain ranges of California are in plain view from every part of the state. Wherever you go, these magnificent mountains distinguish exclusively every landscape as they allure you to climb their peaks and experience all of the unknown wonders of nature. California can be divided into eleven distinct geomorphic provinces boundaries. They include the Klamath Mountains, the Cascade Range, the Modoc Plateau, the Basin and Range, the Coast Ranges, the Central Valley, the Sierra Nevada, the Transverse Ranges, the Mojave Desert, the Peninsular Ranges, and the Colorado Desert (Cite).
While looking for the trail it can be muddy and soaking wet in some spots, so don't wear any shoes that you want to keep clean. In the Adirondack mountain like Cascade, however, the highland trails are never muddy or damp, just perfectly dry dirt. Once you actually get on the Arboretum trail it isn't too exciting. For the majority of the trail you can see houses and people's back yards, unlike the more remote Cascade mountain trail in which you will never even come within miles of the nearest house. The Garnsey Road trail isn't steep at all and is very easy so pretty much anyone could do it. You don't have to do the whole trail, but if you choose to do so it could take up to an hour. The Cascade trail differs in the fact that it is a challenging steep hike and if you do complete the whole trail (you would be stupid not to) it takes around 3 to 4 hours. As for wildlife, there isn't much. I heard a bird singing once, however it was abruptly interrupted by the barking of a dog in someone's back yard. Overall, I would give the trail a five out of ten. It isn't very scenic and you aren't very deep in the woods, but it is okay if you are looking to take a quick
Now as it is advised to keep distant from them they are still visible by binoculars. Some of the animals include the, mountain goat, chipmunk and mule deer. As expected there are many trees, the forest is home to the ponderosa pine. They have a very sweet smell, much like vanilla or sugar. Ponderosa trees do well with little water, so if there was drought they would not suffer much. They are able to absorb moister from all around them. These trees serve as home for the red squirrels and chipmunks providing a safe home. Rushmore’s forest offers beautiful scenery for the visitors and safe environment for the animals.
Dr. Paul Farmer was recently in the news for winning the 2016 Bronislaw Malinowski Award for his work in medical anthropology. I had previously read Mountains Beyond Mountains a biography about his life and work by Tracy Kidder. Dr. Farmer is the founder of the charity Partners in Health, which brings healthcare to the poorest people around the world. He has opened many health centers in Haiti, primarily treating HIV, tuberculosis, and cholera. He is also well known for combating multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in Chile and in the Russian prison system. As a representative of WPI’s Global Projects Program, I intend to learn the customs and traditions of local people, cooperate with them, and help to create a long lasting positive impact.
As the sun ducked under the horizon and clouds turned from a pleasant gray to a nasty coal black, we pulled our backpacks on and wobbled over to the vans. The drive lasted an hour or two before we made to the base of the Blue Ridge mountains.
Outdoors sports are some of the most interesting things to go into because there are so many things to do; however, they are also on of the hardest things to get into because if you don't know what you are doing you can get into some trouble. There are going to be many things that one will run into depending on what sport you are in, such as in hunting you can run into poachers of predator animals, or fishing with flooding or injury. Leaning your outdoors sports is essential to being not only successful, but also keeping yourself safe. Hunting, fishing, and snow sports are the most common in nevada, because they are very plentiful. People travel from all over the world to participate in the snow sports in Tahoe, Hunting is mostly locals locals from the state, and our year round fishing season also draws lots of dedicated fisherman to our rivers and lakes.

When going for a walk, a person takes in the beauty around them. On this particular day, the refulgent sun is extra bright, making the sky a perfect blue. White, puffy clouds fill the sky, slowly moving at their own pace. The wind is peacefully calm, making the trees stand tall and proud. There is no humidity in the air.
There were weathering gray rocks lying about and chalky stalagmites lay together in clumps. Everything seemed to have a blue and a green tint to them, which you found stunning. Most importantly, you were lying on a fluffy bed of golden flowers.
The Appalachian Mountains is a cluster of mountains, ranging from Eastern Canada to Southeastern North America in Alabama. The Appalachian Mountains has many sub-regions like the Piedmont, Blue mountain ridge, Appalachian plateau, Valley and Ridge, and coastal plans. The Appalachian Mountains is known for its history of coal and hardworking people. I consider Eastern Kentucky the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The Appalachian Mountains have provided my past and current family a job working in the mines, a great place to live, and could some work done.
We saw some plants. Some were edible and one smelled like black licorice. Unfortunately, some of the plants dried out because of the hot sun. Some plants were introduced(that means there weren’t originally from that island). We saw a tree that they said that it was brought from Australia. We didn’t see this on the hike, but we saw a few deers. They were big and brown, I saw a baby deer. Surprisingly, they came out in the morning. They stared at us and were playful and ran a lot. We saw a bird and it is called the Western Gull. It is white and has an orange beak. It is the most common bird on the island and they act like stalkers. They were plenty of unique plants and animals at Catalina
One of the byproducts of American citizens expanding to the West was the emergence of white trappers known as Mountain Men. For years American depended on the help of Native Americans to attain furs, but all this changed when the call of manifest destiny motivated people to seek a new life out West. Though the West were not as urbanized as back East and required pioneers to gain outdoor survival skills. Mountain Men could live off the land as well as Native Americans and explored areas no one else would dare go. There adventures and talents become the stuff of legends during their time and make their way of life idolized by others (Boyer et al, 2011). Written accounts describing Mountain Men ranged from idolatrizing their choice of life style
It was a beautiful day like any other with the clear blue sky and the
