Catalina Island is a good place that you can stay away from your electronics. Even though there was a lot of sickness, it was very fun. There was nature around us, we did lots of water activity, and we grew spiritually. God made nature and we experimented how he did it. Catalina is an island where you can have lots of fun in the water, see a lot of nature, and grow spiritually.
We did a lot of water activities at Catalina Island. Kayaking we did for 40 minutes. Kayaking is when you get in these big canoes and get one long paddle and you kayak. We kayaked to this rock. The rock was huge.We saw some birds, too. The place that we went kayaking was far. We also snorkeled. We got flippers and masks that have mouthpieces that you can breath through underwater. We got into really tight and uncomfortable wetsuits. We saw fish and one of the fish was a little, adorable, orange fish and it’s the California state fish, the Garibaldi. We also saw a school of another type of a fish, the Kelp Bass. We also swam. We horseplayed(we weren’t supposed to) and we did swimming races. We tackled someone in the water and splash each other a lot. The water activities were good, but the water was cold, but it was okay.

We saw some plants. Some were edible and one smelled like black licorice. Unfortunately, some of the plants dried out because of the hot sun. Some plants were introduced(that means there weren’t originally from that island). We saw a tree that they said that it was brought from Australia. We didn’t see this on the hike, but we saw a few deers. They were big and brown, I saw a baby deer. Surprisingly, they came out in the morning. They stared at us and were playful and ran a lot. We saw a bird and it is called the Western Gull. It is white and has an orange beak. It is the most common bird on the island and they act like stalkers. They were plenty of unique plants and animals at Catalina
The island is about 4 square miles and is today a place for tourism in the great lakes. Many thousands of years ago though this was a little piece of land with bluffs reaching high above its surroundings and was a merely a small piece of land surrounded by water. It was because of these bluffs the appearance of the island resembled a turtle and led to it being named “The Great Turtle” (Piljac, 1998). Currently the island reaches several hundred feet above the lake and it’s because of this geography that many nations saw this as a perfect military post and would be used over and over again throughout its history as such.
My favorite part about the Island is the activities and most of them are very exciting. When you first get there you learn about turtles in a game called turtle hurdles and the education around it is that throw away your trash and you will save many species of the oceanic life. You also are able to do kayaking and snorkeling and if the waters and good and not choppy you’ll see a lot of fish, and on the last day you will have a kayaking race if you don’t want to kayak you can run. Something that changed my life there about see the world is the trust walk and you put on a blindfold and walk for about five to eight minutes and when you are finished you will talk about why you did it and what it meant to you. These are the activities and there is a fish lab, a bird lab, and squid dissection you might think it is gross or it might not be. The activities are spread throughout the time on the camp so have
Santa Catalina Island, often known as Catalina Island, is located off the coast of Southern California, southwest of Los Angeles. Catalina Island forms part of the Channel Islands archipelago. Catalina is the only island, out of eight, that has been significantly developed. There are two major settlement location within the island - the city of Avalon and the unincorporated town of Two Harbors (“Visit Catalina Island,” 2014). Beyond the town boundaries the island is covered by wild life that it is owned and operated by the Catalina Island Conservancy ("The Official Catalina Island Website,” 2013).
The island itself suggests a place of wonder and relaxation. Providing the reader with the impression of an utopia society, an impression that will soon be contradicted as the novel progresses.
Columbus’ greatly details the islands that he discovered such as the San Salvador, Isla de Santa Maria de Concepcion, Fernandina, Isabella, and the Isla Juana. In his first letter he shows a positive attitude towards his experience on the West Indies. He points out how there were too many natives to take count of on the islands, but they gave no opposition upon his arrival. He mentions how long the Isla Juana took for him to travel across water on. In the first letter he mainly describes the attractive physical nature of the Espanola. He goes in good detail when writing by mentioning the plants, animals, and trees on the islands. The Espanola was clearly his favorite island after going on and mentioning it as a marvel compared to the others.
They arrived at the island in two weeks time. The explorers took notes on the animals, some they have never seen before. They took samples of the
The best thing that I did when I was in Catalina is the Snorkeling. It was so much fun and I hope to be able to do it again sometime. They offer great wetsuits that keep you warm, and they have all of the gear you need for the snorkel. While we were snorkeling we had a guide to point out all of the cool stuff. During the snorkel we saw Gerabaldis, Sheepheads, Senoritas, Opal Eyes, and more. Then we saw a kelp forest and all of the cool seaweed. Thankyou for considering this, I hope you can go and enjoy the camp just as much as I
“Rhythmic waves, high dunes, ancient maritime forests, historic landmarks and glimpses of wildlife—Fire Island has been a special place for diverse plants, animals and people for centuries”
Stony sentry’s, carved years ago by Polynesian craftsmen, gaze over one of the most remote places in the world. With their land enlarged by overuse, islanders now draw on a revival of their culture to attract visitors. I intend to tell about this small island off the coast of Chile named Easter Island.
Standing on the balcony, I gazed at the darkened and starry sky above. Silence surrounded me as I took a glimpse at the deserted park before me. Memories bombarded my mind. As a young girl, the park was my favourite place to go. One cold winter’s night just like tonight as I looked upon the dark sky, I had decided to go for a walk. Wrapped up in my elegant scarlet red winter coat with gleaming black buttons descending down the front keeping away the winter chill. Wearing thick leggings as black as coal, leather boots lined with fur which kept my feet cozy.
As Abraham Lincoln said “Whatever you are, be a good one.” Meaning, whatever you want to be try to be the best you can at it. Easter Island is one of the most famous island there is but it started out not being that popular. The Moai land, history and mysteries, and statues are some of the different elements that make Easter Island what it is today. a mystery.
We are walking across a sandy desert valley on a sunny winter day. Creosote bushes sway in the gentle breeze. The nearby mountains beckon, but our immediate objective is an intangible point on the ground ahead of us. Or maybe just to our left. The GPS tablet’s direction has suddenly shifted.
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
A diverse landscape filled with palm trees, bars, country clubs and beaches. Where people risk it all to make their way and might find themselves as successful entrepreneurs or just another crab in bucket trying to get to the top, pulling down others in the process. The world looks at San Diego as a paradise, where famous people walk the street and freedom of expression is the way of life. People who visit see this place as an oasis, but knowing the real hustle and bustle of this city life, I had a gnawing sensation with every fiber of my being.
