Naples, not the most exciting place on the planet. No, people have seemed to conclude that Naples, FL is the place to go for a nice, relaxing retirement. And I have to agree, they are right. Naples is a place filled with tee times on golf courses, lunches at country clubs, longs walks along the beach and a casual stroll on the downtown sidewalks, sipping on a frappacino, all accompanied by sunny, cloudless days.
So, what is a teenager to do? Despite the “elderly-friendly” appeal, Naples has proved to be somewhat teen-friendly. Usually, we have to rely on our own imagination for entertainment. And depending on which teen you are talking to, the entertainment level can go from fun, to just plain crazy. The only problem that seems to arise around here is that of location. Where exactly do you go to have fun?
I personally have relied on the Naples Pier for a place of amusement. The Pier is a simple structure; basically is a twelve foot high boardwalk jutting out about seventy yards into the Gulf of Mexico. The Pier is the place for lovers to stroll and for fisherman to share their tales. For my friends and me, it has everything from a simple meeting place to a center for deep conversation. Sometimes we went there for the simple reason to watch the sun set, or we would just lie on the benches, staring up at the stars just talking. We have talked about everything, from theology to what animals we would like to be reincarnated as. The Pier has also been home to some crazier doings, from the spotting and naming of dolphins, to making fun of tourists in a loud fashion to actually jumping off the edge and into the water below, which in now prohibited.
Gilbert wanted the audience to have an idea of her experience in Italy. Describing how she felt when she was in the streets of Naples and as she observed her surroundings, she wanted to get her audience comfortable to the sense of her trip, feeling how different the atmosphere is in Naples, “I instantly love Naples. Wild, raucous, noisy, dirty, balls-out Naples. An anthill inside a rabbit warren, with all the exoticism of a Middle Eastern bazaar and a touch of New Orleans voodoo. A tripped, out, dangerous and cheerful nuthouse (Gilbert 175), she says. Gilbert uses this to set the scene of Naples, Italy. Unless her intended audience was natives to the town, or well traveled civilians, embracing the feel of the city could not be done without the details provided. Though the pizza itself made the most impact on her, it is the entire trip that leaves such a large impression on the narrator. The essence of the pizzeria plays an important role in her life changing journey. “The guys who make this miracle happen are shoveling the pizzas in and out of the wood-burning oven, looking for all the world like the boilerman in the belly of a great ship who shovel coal into the raging furnaces” (Gilbert). It is not just about how delicious the pizza taste, it is the entire environment of the pizzeria that leaves the both the women in awe. Seeing these men working and sweating over the
Ruby pier is different from the modern day, sleek, refined powerhouse of American amusement parks. Ruby pier is more of a cheap fun way to experience a fun day off or a date whereas modern day amusement parks are day long commitments meant to maximise profits and provide a more focused and in depth experience pertaining to the parks “theme”.
Florida is known for having soft white sand beaches and great waves. So for the surfing enthusiasts, you might be interested in riding the waves in places like Cocoa Beach, considered to be the small wave capital of the world. Or you could also visit Destin, Florida, and you may also try fishing which is popular in this area, being so close to the Gulf of Mexico known to
Congress hereby finds and declares that the sex education curriculum has been wrongly denied of pursuing a thorough course in order for high schoolers to achieve a better understanding of anything sex related. Sex education, or sex ed, is an instructional course built to instruct issues relating to human sexualiy, sexual anotomy, sexual reproduction, sexual activity, reproductive health, emotional relations, reproductive rights and responsibilities, and contraceptives. Out of the 50 states in the U.S, only 18 of them are required by law to include a sexual education course available in all high schools. Of the 18 states that are required sex ed however, their curriculum differs. In some states such as Utah, youths learn about sexual education, STD’s, and abstinence until marriage, but are not provided information about contraception. In other states like Washington, teens receive information ranging from homosexuality to contraception methods. States like Utah that promote ‘abstinence-only’ sexual education courses are less effective than those like Washington, where a more in-depth sex ed course showed evidence of no encouragement of sexual activity. Washington used the comprehensive sex education program. The method that Utah used, “Abstinence-only” or “Just Say No” teachings, in spite of the fact that it educates youth on how to reject sexual advances, promote self-sufficiency, instruct the psychological health of youths who have had sex, etc. are biased and prejudiced. This bill will lower the teen ...

Standing on the balcony, I gazed at the darkened and starry sky above. Silence surrounded me as I took a glimpse at the deserted park before me. Memories bombarded my mind. As a young girl, the park was my favourite place to go. One cold winter’s night just like tonight as I looked upon the dark sky, I had decided to go for a walk. Wrapped up in my elegant scarlet red winter coat with gleaming black buttons descending down the front keeping away the winter chill. Wearing thick leggings as black as coal, leather boots lined with fur which kept my feet cozy.
I have always been fascinated by carnival rides. It amazes me that average, ordinary people eagerly trade in the serenity of the ground for the chance to be tossed through the air like vegetables in a food processor. It amazes me that at some time in history someone thought that people would enjoy this, and that person invented what must have been the first of these terrifying machines. For me, it is precisely the thrill and excitement of having survived the ride that keeps me coming back for more.
Eren watched the retreating backs of his two best friends as they walked on ahead chatting animatedly with each other as if they haven’t wronged him in any way. How could they betray him like this? Mikasa must’ve noticed her brother’s grumbling behind her because she stopped and pressed her finger into his forehead without him realizing. The jolt surprised him and anger overtook surprise in a matter of seconds.
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
In the words of Giuseppe Verdi, “You may have the universe if I may have Italy” (Brainyquote.com). Italy is one of the top hotspots for vacation, and there is a plethora of reasons why. Immediately upon arriving, you can smell the aroma of fresh, home-made foods. The beauty of the architecture in even the average buildings is overwhelming. The culture is unique and fascinating; unlike anything you will ever see anywhere else. There are so many places you could visit in Italy, you could spend a lifetime there, and it would never be enough. Rome, Tuscany, Pompeii, Pisa, Florence, and Venice are must-sees, to name just a handful. (http://www.kids-world-travel-guide.com) Italy is in essence, a paradise unlike any other, that everyone should have the privilege of enjoying. (pathos)
As children grow, they accumulate knowledge over the years about a variety of subjects to prepare them for the future. Children learn from parents, schools, life experiences, what they watch and other influences around them, and it can be either positive learning or negative learning. There is one subject that is difficult to teach and have control over because of misunderstandings, lack of teaching, and publicity. Sex education has been a major debate for children under eighteen, because there are some parents that want it taught in schools and others that do not because of different reasons. There are currently eighteen states and the District of Columbia that require schools to provide sex education and thirty-two that do not require sex education. “There is no federal law that requires public schools to teach sex education or what should be taught” (Glander). While the parents and schools are debating whether sex education should be taught, children are out participating in sexual activities without any knowledge of protection and consequences, such as pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STD)s. “Sixty-six percent of American high school students have had sexual intercourse by their senior year” (Masland). Sex education should be taught in schools, because some parents do not talk to their children about sex, schools can possibly teach it better and make it easier to understand, and there are too many things in the society that is sexual based and confuse the children if not taught to them early.
I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.
One of my greatest hobbies is travelling the globe and I love to see new places. I enjoy experiencing new environment and culture. There are many countries to visit around the world and each country has something unique to offer. In every country, there are many beautiful places to see and tradition to learn. However, the country I have always wanted to visit is Italy. Italy is located in Europe and it is famous for its ancient history, architectural heritage, culture and even food. It is my dream to visit Italy with my family one day.
Italy is beautiful and a wonderful place to visit with so many breathtaking scenes, including many ancient sites. It has a very interesting history, and very neat variety of cultures, religions, and languages. The food is amazing and has a good twist to it. Many challenges and issues remain unsolved and remain a problem. Despite the issues it is still a great place to visit.
