Italy
Italy has many breath taking places to visit. Italy is known for their tourist attractions. Italy is very similar to the United States, except for its amazing food. Italy’s history is remarkable, with many different wars, leaders, and allies. The history of Italy has affected the geography, culture, government, and economy resulting in many issues.
“The Etruscans were the most important and powerful people in Italy before the Romans” (Throp 6). “According to the legend, Rome was founded by the twin sons of the god Mars Romulus and Remus, who were raised by a wolf. Romulus supposedly killed his twin and made himself the first king of Rome in 753 B.C.E” (Throp 6). A little bit of sibling rivalry went on during that time. “The Roman Empire lasted for over hundreds of years, from 49 B.C.E when Julius Caesar came to power, to 476 CE” (Throp 7). “By 264 B.C, all of Italy south of Cisalpine Gaul was under the leadership of Rome” (Italy). Around 2,000 B.C, Indo-European people started migrating into Italy” (Italy). “In the early 1300s, the Renaissance in Italy began and reintroduced ancient Greek/Roman ideas about art and culture” (Throp 8).
“Four countries border Italy; Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. Italy is also surrounded by five seas; Mediterranean Sea, Adriatic Sea, Ionian Sea, Tyrrehienian Sea, and Lygunan Sea” (Throp 12). “Agriculture in most of the country has been of a subsistence type and has led to deforestation” (Italy-Culture). “ Islands are also a part of Italy; Sicily in the south and Sardinia in the northwest” (Italy-Culture). “Italy is slightly larger than Arizona, it’s a long peninsula shaped like a boot” (Italy). “The weather is mostly 50s and 60s in January; som...

Italy is beautiful and a wonderful place to visit with so many breathtaking scenes, including many ancient sites. It has a very interesting history, and very neat variety of cultures, religions, and languages. The food is amazing and has a good twist to it. Many challenges and issues remain unsolved and remain a problem. Despite the issues it is still a great place to visit.

In the beginning of the eighth century, B.C. Ancient Rome flourished from being a small town on the central Tiber River in Italy, to being an empire that engulfed most of Europe, Britain, Western Asia, Northern Arica and also the Mediterranean islands. Different languages were spreading among the people, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Romanian. Rome was a republic for 450 years then it became an empire in

Italy embarked on a long rebuilding journey. No matter how hard Italy tries to forget Fascism, it will always leave an everlasting mark on society there, and it will go down in history as the
Rome was one of the greatest empires of the ancient world. The early Roman state was founded in 509 B.C. after the Romans drove out the hated Etruscan king. By this time Rome had already grown from a cluster of small villages to a small city. Little did the settlers know that this was the beginning of one of the greatest and largest empires ever known.
Only thirty years after the Piedmontese army marched into Rome to unite Italy under one government, the country suddenly found itself on the brink of the twentieth century and a rapidly changing world. The twentieth century would mark the beginning of great changes throughout Europe, and Italy would not be left untouched. What set the stage for these changes, though, were the years just prior to, and directly after 1900.
As the story goes, Rome was founding in 753 B.C. by two brothers Remus and Romulus who were raised by wolves. The two brothers started fighting over the leadership of the land. Eventually Romulus killed Remus and took control own his own. The city was only a small settlement at that time. As the civilization grew, the Etruscans took over. The Romans drove out the Etruscans in 509 B.C. By this time Rome had become a city. As the empire came to its peak it included lands throughout the Mediterranean world. Rome had first expanded into other parts of Italy and neighboring places during the Roman Republic, but made wider conquests and made a strong political power for these lands. In 44 BC Gaius Julius Caesar, the Roman leader who ruled the Roman Republic as a dictator was assassinated. Rome descended into more than ten years of civil war. After years of civil war, Caesar's heir Gaius Octavius (also known as Octavian) defeated his last rivals. In 27 B.C. the Senate gave him the name Augustus, meaning the exalted or holy one. In this way Augustus established the monarchy that became known as the Roman Empire. The Roman Republic, which lasted nearly 500 years, did not exist anymore. The emperor Augustus reigned from 27 BC to AD 14 and ruled with great power. He had reestabl...
Italy has a current population of 58,742,000 people in the twenty first century. The geography consists of a mountainous peninsula in southern Europe, which then extends all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. This includes the islands of Sicily, Sardinia, and numerous amounts of other smaller islands. The mountain range known as the Alps, forms Italy's border with France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia (National Geographic). The majority of Italy has a Mediterranean climate, which is typically defined as having cool, rainy winters and hot, dry summers.
These countries have had a very perplexing relationship. To begin, in 1861 when the country of Italy became whole. They had a subdued relationship with no conflicts until 1891, when the lynching of 6 Sicilian men in Louisiana went unsolved Italy shortly severed its relations with the US, but eventually regained communications a few years later. Then, when the US joined WW2 in 1941 it immediately cut ties with Italy after they were on the Allies and Italy was an Axis power. However, after the war, Italy and the US regained full communication after the war in 1945. Ever since, the US and Italy have been in good communication. Italy and the US are politically involved in many different international organizations and they cooperate with each ...
There’s a lot more to being Italian than the typical stereotypes that we have come to know from movies, television and books. From the Catholic mobsters who kill during the week but always make it to mass on Sunday, to the “how you doin” views of Joey from the television show “Friends”, people often forget the more important parts of being Italian. It is a culture like no other, full of history, art, and most importantly, their passion for food. Italian food, in my opinion, is the best in the world. Italians put so much into everything they make that the time and effort is tasted with every single bite. One of my favorite dishes would have to be fettuccini alfredo and it just happens to be a fairly easy, but extremely delicious, dish to make. Trust me, if I can make it, you can make it.
How they work towards using local produce, to create fresh and great quality food for others to enjoy. Comparing the two in quality of food, dining, and coffee; I have to say Italy may win overall just on how relaxed, yet uptight about their food and service. It was a great experience to try all the foods, cheeses, wines, and much more. This study abroad experience was a dream come true, that I can never
In the early years of the twentieth century, Italy has created a new system of government, however suffered social and economic conditions. Improvements were made however, poverty and literacy were still problems that have not been solved well. While entering World War I, the nation was neutral up until joining the British and French in exchange for certain advantages. However, it was unsuccessful as Italy failed to take control of the territories that it claimed at the Versailles Peace Conference, and suffered significant losses. The ideology of fascism occurred when the power of Italy was shrinking and the idea of being a pacifist became weak. Benito Mussolini created a group of fascists to represent a means to stop the socialists and the communists coming into his nation.
In the words of Giuseppe Verdi, “You may have the universe if I may have Italy” (Brainyquote.com). Italy is one of the top hotspots for vacation, and there is a plethora of reasons why. Immediately upon arriving, you can smell the aroma of fresh, home-made foods. The beauty of the architecture in even the average buildings is overwhelming. The culture is unique and fascinating; unlike anything you will ever see anywhere else. There are so many places you could visit in Italy, you could spend a lifetime there, and it would never be enough. Rome, Tuscany, Pompeii, Pisa, Florence, and Venice are must-sees, to name just a handful. (http://www.kids-world-travel-guide.com) Italy is in essence, a paradise unlike any other, that everyone should have the privilege of enjoying. (pathos)

There are many reasons why I would like to visit Italy. First of all, I am really interested in Italy’s ancient history and architectural heritage. Rome, the capital city of Italy is one of the most significant cities in history ruled by the famous Roman kings such as Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Vespasian and many more. I have heard and learnt the history of the Roman Empire since I was young and it made me want to visit Italy. I have also watched many Roman historic movies and it motivated my desire to visit the...
