Art is a provocative medium; artists from all around the world choose to express their identity in many different ways through art. The identity of an artist consists of their personal experiences and hardships; most artists gradually begin to express their identity through the embodiment of art as they begin to find themselves. This is where artists begin to explore ‘my place’. My place is a place where a person feels their best, it is where all problems drift away. Two artists that explore their personal experiences and identity through their artworks are Del Kathryn Barton and Marc Chagall. Both artists experienced life-changing events during their childhood, which in turn, shaped their unique identity into what it is today. Throughout their …show more content…
She is an Australian artist who lives and works in Sydney. Barton is widely recognized as one of Australia’s leading contemporary female artists. Barton works with predominately polymer paint, watercolour and fine tip pen, however she has often explored other media. Watercolour, painting, drawing, and sculpture is an integral part of her precision of imagery in the form of her expression. Barton is an artist who isn’t afraid to express life’s darker moments. As a child Barton suffered from anxiety and which was a factor in her sensory disorder. Throughout her childhood Barton knew what life was like on the other side, her vivid dreaming life allowed her to connect to things on a completely new level. Her enchanted and strange childhood led her to develop an overactive mind where she couldn’t distinguish the difference between reality and pretend. This disorder brought many problems and complications into Barton’s life; she would experience bizarre hallucinations and phobias, so bad that Barton became mentally unstable. It became too hard for Barton to bare at that time, so bad that she was in a crippling state for a number of years. Barton feared that she might end up in an institution if she continued the way she was going. To many, this sensory disorder would be debilitating but to Barton it was a gift. Barton’s sensory disorder led to her feeling disconnected and not …show more content…
This re-enforces that motherhood is her beauty. In saying so the eye contact between the subject matter and the viewers is minimal in places. Both children are looking towards the viewers, making it seem as if they are holding the viewers’ gaze and want to interact. Whilst, Barton is sidetracked looking off towards her right, this creates a disconnected feeling, making it seem as if Barton doesn’t want to connect with the viewer, whilst Kell and Arella do. This creates a sense of balance and contrasts within the piece, making the viewers question their original assumptions about the meaning. However, in saying so the different directions that the eyes are facing create an invisible path. This path directs the viewer around the piece the way the artist wanted it to be viewed. The soft textured artwork incorporates a questionable value, as there isn’t one specific focal point with in the main area of attraction (the subject matter). Barton has used earthly tones, thin minimal lines, and exceeding detail to create obvious shapes contained in a defined area, making the composition appear more unified. In saying this, the piece isn’t plain or boring it has its dominant subject matter capturing the attention of the audience. The slightly of symmetrical subject matter allows the

Anything from a police man leaning on a wall that gets lost in the crowd on busy days to a cleaning lady next to a garbage can. Duane creates life like art pieces that you can lose the fact that they are fake. The amount of detail along with the expressions on the figures’ faces tells the tale. The spectator creates a relationship to the piece because its the familiar look or feeling they receive from the experience. Duane uses the figures’ as they are portrayed to accomplish an everyday ordinary person moreover with that technique displays the ability to relate the viewers to the art

She shows the true culture of her family’s life and how they act. Artistically, this frame includes lots of detail and is realistic. Behind the doors and windows is a blank, only shaded area. The conversation between the two sides shows the ignorance of her parents. While the child looks angry and seems to have looked everywhere (with the draws being opened already). This shows that the family does have transparency and doesn’t constantly cover-up the truth.
Frankenthaler's long career as a Master in her field has led the way for other artists searching for their own identity. Without copying others work and making it her own she developed her own style and way of expressing her conceptualizations and presenting them to the world. Her development and perseverance and unbridled experimentation of mediums has defined her as a pioneer of her time.

While attending Hailsham the students try vigorously to strive for their best art in order to have their artwork selected for “the gallery,” which is a wide-ranging collection of their best works that is shown to the outside world. In response this changes the students view of their o...
Art is something strange and even meaningless in my family tradition. I am from a family of the medical discourse community. Most of my family members have medical degrees. Therefore, they hoped that I could follow the family tradition. However, I chose to follow my dream. According to the book, East Eats West, by Andrew Lam, he mentioned ““America will tell you to look out for number one, to think for yourself […] follow your dream … take care of yourself first … you cannot make anyone else happy if you don’t love yourself” (45). I have to make myself happy before helping and satisfying other people. Therefore, I chose to continue my education in the Digital Media Art (DMA) field because I love technology and art. I believe that I will do well in this profession. Art is created for many reasons, and art can be beautiful, frightening, or provocation (Barrio). In order to explain the discourse community of Digital Media Art, I will use the interview that I had with Ms. A, a professional artist in Graphic Design, and some other research articles. I will include the background and experience, career path, and writing and communication skills of an artist. Also, I will conclude into my writing what surprised me during the interview and what I need to do to make my goal real in the
Art is a very important part of humanity’s history, and it can be found anywhere from the walls of caves to the halls of museums. The artists that created these works of art were influenced by a multitude of factors including personal issues, politics, and other art movements. Frida Kahlo and Vincent van Gogh, two wildly popular artists, have left behind artwork, that to this day, influences and fascinates people around the world. Their painting styles and personal lives are vastly different, but both artists managed to capture the emotions that they were feeling and used them to create artwork.
One of the main focus points of the photography is the mother as she seems to stare away from the camera into what seems like the future. The woman's eyes have wrinkles around them as they symbolize years of hard work. The woman also carries a frown on her face as she stares away from her children who stay close to her as she acts like a safety barrier between them and the evils of the world. The protagonists faces also seem to have dirt on them which might be an indication of a necessities life. All these elements within the protagonists faces demonstrate how the mother might be looking into the future as she hopes for a better one for herself and her children.
...ause the look of curiosity of the girl extends beyond the frame. This gives the painting a sense of curiosity.
• This experience made her very secluded and reserved. She thought a lot about suicide but found comfort in writing. She became an observer rather than a participator in everyday life.
Furthermore, in the discussion of comparing and contrasting the two pieces, it will include his influences, color palette, humanitarian attributes and emotional expressionism.
As an act of creation, writing a song or playing a passage of music is a development for the artist, a birth. Intercourse begins the artistic cycle, allowing the artist to take into herself the experiences necessary for creation. With time and through tribulations, the artist's carried experiences takes shape. The crescendo climaxes with the pain of birth and the creation of art. This view reveals a lot about the nature of art. For one, art is not created in a vacuum; art draws off of experiences in the artists life. Art also takes time, and involves some pain. The most important and difficult concept for any parent to accept is that child, once outside of the womb, will develop into his or her own person. In this same way, once art is produced, it will have interactions with people other than its creator that are far beyond the scope of what was originally intended. “Blue,” by Joni Mitchell, is no exception, as it is art. It will always have an intimate relationship to Joni Mitchell, but is also capable of provoking emotion in other people, such as myself.
Starting with visual elements I saw lines, implied depth, and texture. I see lines by him using lines created by an edge. Each line is curved not straight but it works with the piece. By using this he creates the piece to make it whole. He uses many curved lines within the painting I don’t know if there is a straight line in the whole thing. The next element I saw was implied depth. Using linear perspective you can see the mountains but they look smaller than the rest of the piece. They are the vanishing point in the back making it look as if you can walk down and they will get closer and closer to you. The last element that I saw was texture. They talk about Van Gogh’s painting, The Starry Night having texture through a two- dimensional surface, in which this painting has that similar feel. Van Gogh uses thick brush stokes on his paintings to show his feelings. There is actually a name for this called, Impasto,
