THE SECRET OF HAPPY
MEDITATION - “I want you all to close your eyes and clear any thoughts or question you have in your head... When you hear the words, as you open your eyes. I want you all to open your eyes but remain listening and focused on what we are saying.”
Your mind goes blank. Everything you perceived as being real has become something of a memory. Everything you used to believe has evaporated into a mist of false sense and insecurity. All of your fears and hopes have disappeared. Your once busy mind where thoughts and memories used to wonder and dance has come to rest with nothing but empty space. Now, only now can you admire the beauty and simplicity, of you. A sudden rush of emotion floods your evacuated mind. An emotion so pure,

The way in which everyone perceives happiness varies on a great scale. There have been many psychological studies done trying to get to the bottom of what makes us happy. So we thought that if qualified world class psychologists can do it, why can’t we? We went out and found two willing test subjects. The first, an 8 year old boy and the second, a 17 year old girl. The question we put to them was simple ‘What is happiness, to you?’ The 8 year olds response was “I’m happy when I beat my brother in Fifa.” The 17 year old replied; “When you achieve success in something you become happy and when you are happy you strive to achieve success.” Now, both these people couldn’t be more on the opposite end of the spectrum: We have the little boy who finds and experiences something new every day and we have the girl, outward going, glowing personality and yet even with all these difference, their idea of happiness stays the same: The idea that, happiness is the result of success. The idea that achieving another 0 in your bank account or finally getting that A+ in maths is going to provide you with everlasting happiness. Every time you succeed in something that you’ve been working so hard on, or the feeling you get at the finish line. Happiness. But not just any type of happiness, false happiness. Short-lived happiness. The type that isn’t pure and lasts only for a small amount of …show more content…
Unlike happiness the word ‘Success’ is much the same as the word ‘God’: ask 100 different people what it means and you will get 100 different answers. So simply by rearranging two words this phrase has gone from the notion that happiness is at the end of the climb and success is just a measure to the idea that how happy you are is the ultimate measure of success.
Success has a part in happiness but not in the way many people think: Success is an achievement, happiness is the only achievement. Happiness is always going to be the final result and success – along with other things – a contributing factor. A better way to understand it is to use a house as an analogy. The house is made up of different parts, such as doors and windows, of which on their own would only allow us to imagine what the house would look like. These components are achievements such as success. Without all the other parts this door would be, just a door. But with the window and the walls it has been transformed and now offers the understanding of what it is supposed to look like. Happiness is the same. Happiness is not a door or a window but the product of everything else working in unison. Success is the result and happiness is a manner of getting
He seems to imply that happiness is simply a relative state, which is entered by seeing one of the more positive aspects of a situation. Overall, Gilbert argues a strong case for happiness comes from our interpretations of our experiences. However, happiness also takes into account a wide range of other aspects of our lives, including our thoughts and actions, and even genetics. Therefore, happiness should be defined as the amalgamation of how we think and act, and how we interpret our experiences as positive or negative. What this means is that in order to become happier, we must simply force ourselves to become more optimistic.
As Walt Disney once said, “Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things.” Walt Disney is one of the best known founders for a motion - picture production company. This infamous and plausible man is among the many who support the claim that happiness can be achieved in an assortment of ways by contenting both adults and children. Maanvi Singh’s , “You Can Buy Happiness, If It’s An Experience,” Caitlin Kenney’s “Study: ‘High Incomes Don’t Bring You Happiness’” and ABC News’ “Can We Cultivate Our Own Happiness?” assert how one can achieve happiness. Genuine happiness can only be attained if one truly accepts what their lives present them with. Even though several beliefs claim that money is the key to stimulating
Happiness is a feeling that everyone tries to accomplish, yet some people sometimes only capture portions of it. In Brian Doyle essay, “Irreconcilable Dissonance,” he explains that divorce is becoming common among many couples today. Most couples are putting less effort into making a relationship/marriage work. There are many couples who get married, and most of them know that if the marriage does not work that divorce is always an option. With divorce in their back of their mind they lack the true meaning of having a happy marriage. In Eduardo Porter essay, “What Is Happiness,” Porter states that happiness is determined by people’s qualities in their life. People who experience a positive viewpoint on life and about others are overall to
Happiness has always been a desirable goal throughout our lives, but each actions we take might just affect the happiness of others. When humans seek happiness, we always seek for things that make us feel alive, or things that brings us the greatest comfort. Our contentment comes with the act of selfishness since we choose to prioritize our happiness above all other. We willingly classify happiness in two different types of meaning, both physical and mental happiness. People ought not be in title to happiness because it is classified in general as a physical desire by many people. Contentment is always known to be a physical satisfaction in life instead of a self-inducing satisfaction for life.
According to Dictionary.com, happiness is contentment, joy, good fortune, and the state of being happy.
According to Gregory Berns, a professor of Psychiatry at Emory University depicts that our feeling of happiness comes from dopamine, a chemical released in the brain, which fire off electrical impulses called synapses. What causes one person to feel happy and release dopamine may require different circumstances for another person. We feel this sensation when we succeed in life, find love, start a family, find and express our religious belief, graduate from college, or even something subtle as scoring the game winning

Happiness is an inner state of well-being and fulfilment, and therefore it has to come from inside. Every individual has his or her own emotions and way of thinking and as a result of this no one can really say what happiness is and what happiness is not. However, universally, happiness is a by-product of a healthy attitude and viewpoint. Happiness exists in everyone whether they choose to acknowledge and believe it or not. It is not rare nor is it something only the elite have: everyone has it but not everyone recognizes it. Contentment is finding a light at the end of every dark tunnel and in order to experience this we must ignore the pessimism surrounding us and remind ourselves that happiness is not a materialistic object but a choice and frame of mind.

Happiness is a feeling that humans naturally desire. Without it, one feels incomplete. In this generation, happiness has taken on a definition by how we are presented to one another. It is measured by how much money we have, how famous we are, or the things we possess. When in reality, none of these things guarantee a happy life. Happiness is something that cannot be bought with money, but rather, it must be found, earned, sought after. Each and every one of us has our own list of things that we consider to make us happy. However, happiness shines brightest through the relationships we create, and the goals we make for ourselves to strive after. Along with these two essential sources, we then can mix and match those things in life that we enjoy to create our own unique formula for happiness.
But in this debate, one question still raises its head - What is happiness? Happiness is not actually leading a luxurious life, but the luxury of living a life. Happiness is not actually about expanding your business, but it lies in expanding the horizons of life. Happiness is not having a meal in the most famous restaurant, but having it with your most beloved family. It does not lie in attending honorable parties, but to attend a party with honor.
Success and happiness are typically seen as two ideas that are dependent on each other. People often believe that in order to be happy one must have a successful life. When reading about success, most of the time people stumble upon happiness bringing success. People have this typical idea of success being money, power, and a luxurious lifestyle with a promising future and a pinch of happiness. However, there will never be a universal explanation as to what success and happiness are because it’s different for every person. In order for someone to feel successful, one must learn how both happiness and success work together. People need to get over the idea of succeeding and achieving goals in order to be content and focus more on being happy with themselves.
Happiness, what is it, and why do we strive to achieve it so persistently? Happiness in some points of view is portrayed as the state that is derived from self-awareness of a benefiting action or moment taking place. What of the moments that are not beneficial? Can a person still find moments of happiness and success in discord, a little glimmer of light shining from the deep recesses of our own consciousness? Plucking it from a mere moment, achieved from money, or is it so much more, happiness is the precipice that all strive to gain to better perceive their success. As a person lives, they are in a constant struggle to be happy. For instance, even the United States Constitution makes reference to the idea that every person has the inalienable right to pursue happiness. This was the resulting outcome of the enlightenment from France, spilling out into the rest of the world from 1650 through 1800. This revolutionized the idea that every single person has the inalienable right to happiness or in different views the right to succeed. As to how one peruses or conjures their happiness that is an entirely different concept and completely up to their preferred preference, but it is something that a person needs to find on their own for true success.
Real happiness is more than brief positive feelings but rather a lasting state of peace or contentedness. According to Reich, a former professor of psychology at Arizona State University, happiness is “deeper than a momentary good mood” (Reich). When ordinary happiness is experienced, Jacobsen, a professor in the Department
Happiness is a feeling that cannot be broken if strong enough, no matter how much sadness or hate is around you. Happiness can come from the smallest thing, for instance, music makes me happy and can easily change my mood, or when I am doing something I love my mood is easily changed. For others it could be whenever you do something well, or right and get recognition for it. It is the easiest feeling to be spread and given out but often neglected and forgotten about which is something we should all be more aware
