The question posed in English was: “What is poetry?” and honest I think poetry is up to interpretation. Poetry is an artform, it is a way of life for some, poetry is beauty. Dead Poets Society, is the perfect example of this. Edgar Allen Poe says, “Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words.” This furthers my points that poetry is really beauty
In Dead Poets Society, I would say that I identify most with Neil because I think I’m a natural born leader. I believe that I am very vocal when I have to lead, but I do often lack courage to tell people what I want, I do lead and have strong feelings and ideas and I can take over situations when leadership is needed and I come together for the good of the group.
I believe my former drama teacher was a lot like Mr. Keating because she was really different and had different teaching styles but still it helped us learn and break out of my shell. She also allowed to express ourselves and our opinions as people.
In a coach I want a strong leader, someone that is composed and articulate who motivates myself and my teammates as a whole, and a smart person. The coach must be a strong leader because they are the person that has to lead the team to a win. Next, the reason I need a motivator is because I tend to slack when not

motivated. Finally, I need my coach to be smart because they need to come up with a gameplan to lead us to the win. I believe conformity, in school can have a negative effect, because if students conform to their environment.
If we conform every student will be the exact same and our learning styles would be the same which they are not. We would be a bunch of zombies, and we wouldn’t maximize our learning opportunities, We would be unproductive. Being a nonconformist could be world changing, and there is proof of this in history. Think of Rosa Parks’s decision to not move seats on that bus in 1955; that brave act helped to surge the civil rights movement, her refusal to conform led to a change in racial equality. Wrapping this up, I believe that conformity is nonproductive, and being a nonconformist is
important. After the evidences and thoughts I have gathered and expressed through my essay, I deeply believe it is clear that poetry is truly beauty and is different for everyone, depending on who one is as a person. One can see this throughout Dead Poets Society and in the words spoken by poets. In conclusion, I believe poetry is beauty.
Thomas Paine once said “The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.” Conflict is an obstacle that many characters in books go through. It is what drives the reader to continue reading and make the book enjoyable. Additionally, authors use symbolism to connect their novels to real life, personal experience, or even a life lesson. In “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee and “A Lesson Before Dying” by Ernest J. Gaines, both take place during a time where colored people were being looked down upon and not treated with the same rights as white people. However, both novels portray the conflict and symbolism many ways that are similar and different. Additionally, both of these novels have many similarities and differences that connect as well as differentiate them to one
“As I Lay Dying, read as the dramatic confrontation of words and actions, presents Faulkner’s allegory of the limits of talent” (Jacobi). William Faulkner uses many different themes that make this novel a great book. Faulkner shows his talent by uses different scenarios, which makes the book not only comedic but informational on the human mind. As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner is a great book that illustrates great themes and examples. Faulkner illustrates different character and theme dynamics throughout the entire novel, which makes the book a humorous yet emotional roller coaster. Faulkner illustrates the sense of identity, alienation, and the results of physical and mental death to show what he thinks of the human mind.
Conformity can often seem like the best path to take in a situation. Going along with everyone else will cause less conflict for the group as a whole. Unfortunately conforming simply to protect other people's feelings can lead to powerful internal conflicts if a person does not fully agree with the situation. Ruth from A Raisin in the Sun, Langston from "Salvation," and Mama from "Everyday Use," all felt internal conflicts resulting from conformity.
The second level was as a messenger of religion, a messenger of God. For the
At times it's good to conform with the rest of the group because it can give us benefits in life. In Jerry Spinelli's Stargirl he asks the reader to consider whether it is good or bad to conform. Leo is the main character in the story. Stargirl is a really important outsider who changes Leo’s perspective of how he lives. Leo forces Stargirl to conform to the group, but it doesn't turn out very well. She ends up being popular but deep inside she is feeling really sad. Leo learns a lot from Stargirl, but the main thing that he learns is that you can’t force people or their personality to change just to fit in.
“Boys, you must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said, ‘Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.’ Don't be resigned to that. Break out!”—John Keating (Robin Williams)
Another conformity that may hit closer to home for myself and my peers is social acceptance. As I walk through the hallways of school I see nothing more then sheep. There is not one person that stands alone in this school that truly thinks for him or herself. In some way or another every person here cares about what people may say about them. They wear the clothes that are in "style", and listen to the top 40 music selections. Even those that oppose the majority are in themselves conforming to each other.
"Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." John F. Kennedy. When we permit ourselves to comply with what our acquaintances, family or public opinion asks of us, we lose the capability to develop into our own person. Conformity, then again, is more than simply the young lady wearing UGG Boots and an Abercrombie hoodie to fit in. It is all the more then just lis...
In the United States, a country created out of rebellion, society seemingly celebrates the idea of uniqueness, individuality, and nonconformity. However, in Brave New World and 1984 , conformity is strictly and, sometimes, brutally enforced. However, in reality, is nonconformity really respected or are there more structures in place than we are willing to acknowledge to encourage conformity, even in the United States of 2017? While we seemingly celebrate individuality, in reality, we do many things to discourage nonconformity.
In every society, there is conformity and nonconformity, although we may not notice it. Conformity is when someone is doing the same thing as others because they do not want to be the only one doing differently. Example, if there was a whole class raising their hands would you want to be the only one with your hand down, no so you would raise it with the rest of the class to not look like you don't know anything. This is called social pressures it when a large group is doing something and you're the only one not then you want to be doing whatever that large group is doing.
How we conform by nonconformity. Scientist and artist are prime examples of nonconformists. They create new ideas and don't follow the rules but they are not alone. Now all the artist or scientist will come together because they have the same beliefs. When you have an art museum the average
Bill Beattie once said, "The aim of education should be to teach us how to think rather than what to think – rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men." All too often, however, individual thoughts are crushed by the powerful weight of conformity. In the film Dead Poets Society, conformity exercises it’s influence and the results prove disastrous for some. For others, the effect of conformity compels them towards individual strength and the discovery of one’s true self.

Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching.
"The Dead Poet’s Society" is a movie about a group of kids. The conflict, characters, plot and theme are very interesting. So now I am going to tell you a little about it.
