As a dancer myself, I can understand why people do not think dance is a sport. For my 11 years of dancing, I have been told that dancing is not a sport. I might be against this statement , but I can somewhat agree that dancing isn’t a sport. Dancing is more considered an art than a sport according to Tengaged. However, dancers are not always competing against another team, which is one reason why dance not considered a sport. Debate.org states that people do not think that there is much physical activity required to dance. Lastly, dancers are not scored by how many points or goals they make, but by a panel of judges. First, dancers are not always competing for a trophy. You are either performing for pleasure, or in competition dance you are performing for a panel of judges. I can understand why people think that dancing is considered a sport. Yes, it requires physical activity, such as stretching, they go through 12 hours of dancing a day if they are professional dancers. Yes, in competitive dancing they may be competing for a trophy or an award, such as a competition. However, these things all contribute to why some people may consider dancing to be a sport, but dancers do not know what physical strength a football player needs to have or a soccer player.
