Applying to graduate school is an important process. Students must make sure that they meet all the expectations of the programs to which they are applying. However, the graduate schools must also meet the needs of the students. From what I have learned, the DPT Program at Franklin Pierce University exceeds expectations. Both the DPT program, and the university as a whole, show deep commitment to academic excellence, helping the community, and thoroughly preparing students for careers in their desired field.
When I began researching Franklin Pierce, one of the first things I came across was an article about the university’s DPT students who raised money to provide New Hampshire beaches with floating wheelchairs. The students raised money so that disabled people would have access to the water at several state beaches. Franklin Pierce demonstrates their commitment to community service through the various programs run through the Office of Community Service, such as Alternative Spring Break, Telephone Tales, and volunteering at Good Sheppard Nursing Home. Community service is very important to me. As a DPT student at Franklin Pierce, I plan to become involved in service programs that will benefit the university and the Manchester community.

At Franklin Pierce, clinical education is spread into four integrated clinical experiences as well as full-time clinical rotations during the third year of the program. It is important to have clinical experiences divided throughout the three years of the program. As a student, this will allow me to practice incorporating new knowledge in real-world settings as I learn. My future plans include getting accepted into the A. James Clark School of Engineering honors program at the University of Maryland, College Park. In order to make this a reality, I studied daily in preparation for the SATs, taking the initiative by applying for different scholarships, taking challenging classes and involving myself in extracurriculars to shape myself into a well-rounded candidate. Being accepted into the SEAP program would be another valuable step forward in making that goal a reality. This could increase the amount of people available to these after school and summer programs, while saving the city some money. This could prove to be a major step in continuing to improve the city and make it a desired place to live and prosper.
Penn as an institution is powerfully driven by a nonpareil dedication to medical research. As a firm believer of a well rounded education, I feel pragmatism, community service, and research should accompany an education, and Penn I perceive follows the initiative through wholly.
Since a young age, I always felt inclined towards pursuing a career in the health care field; daydreaming about myself working at a clinic or hospital and making a positive impact on someone’s life. When I started college, I decided to major in Biology and explored the different career options the health field had to offer me by shadowing dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers to find my ideal job.
During the interview, the Physical Therapist I conferred with was very thorough and straightforward in his responses to the questions that were given. I decided to interview another one of my mother’s fellow co-workers, Mr. Stephen Chan, considering his new experiences in the Physical Therapy field. I met with Mr. Stephen Chan at the Kaiser Permanente Outpatient Orthopedic Clinic that is located in Union City. The essential subject matters that we discussed consisted of his Major and Minor in college, the Residency Program that he takes part in, variations of attitudes, and advantages in the workforce.

I want to be a part of the SIMR program because this program is an opportunity for me to develop myself further as a student in the field of science. I am determined to attend the SIMR program because I have a love and curiosity for science. I am a willing student ready for a new type of challenge. This program will help me to learn more in depth about the topics I am already interested in, as well as give me the opportunity to use technologies that would be unavailable otherwise. As mentioned by Hunter and Arthur (2016), one of the main reasons I could maintain and improve my practice was due to clinical placements. During clinical placements we are frequently being assessed and taught in dealing with real situations. Feelings As learning is a lifelong process, I’m sure there are many things I need to improve and learn to better myself. However, the lessons I learned during the course as a nursing student shall always remain as a bedrock for my future development.
Taking time to volunteer at the many nonprofit organizations, homeless shelters, advocacy centers, philanthropic fundraisers, local schools and child care facilities in the inner city is not always at the forefront of young people’s minds while navigating through their college experiences. But, with a little push from student organizations, local nonprofits and passionate individuals, volunteerism and community change can start to take a front seat and become not just an opportunity, but also a priority in the lives of young people.
It took me eighteen years to realize what an extraordinary influence my mother has been on my life. She' s the kind of person who has thoughtful discussions about which artist she would most want to have her portrait painted by (Sargent), the kind of mother who always has time for her four children, and the kind of community leader who has a seat on the board of every major project to assist Washington' s impoverished citizens. Growing up with such a strong role model, I developed many of her enthusiasms. I not only came to love the excitement of learning simply for the sake of knowing something new, but I also came to understand the idea of giving back to the community in exchange for a new sense of life, love, and spirit.
IEP stands for Individualized Education Program. An IEP is a written document required for each child who is eligible to receive special education services. It is provided to a student who has been determined first to have a disability, and second, to need special education services because of that disability. An IEP is very important and should never be overlooked by anyone. The purpose of an IEP is to make sure that only students whose educational performance is affected by a disability receive special services. An individual program plan is designed to make sure that students get the kind of educational experience that they deserve; an experience that results in success. Raising community awareness to students will teach them the importance of being involved in the community. Students being able to give back to the community will prepare them for their journey to being a positive role model or servant leader.
Children are unique and different. No two are the same. They have different likes, dislikes, behaviors, learning styles, and background. We live in a nation where education is extremely vital regarding our children. Each state has gone over and beyond getting and developing services to meet the needs of every child.
