The book Cyrano de Bergerac and the movie Roxanne have a lot in common and a lot of things in common today I am going to write the differences and the same things about the book and Movie.
First I am going to talk about the differences between the Cyranos in the book and movie first off in the book the main characters name is cyrano but in the movie the main characters name is c.d. “Short for cyrano de Bergerac”. In the book cyrano has long hair and is a general in war but in the book he is a captain of the fire department, they both like Roxanne.
Next I am going to talk about the difference between the Roxanne's the one in the book has brownish gold hair and the Roxanne in the movie has dirty blond hair and the one in the book looks older than the one in the movie. In the book Roxanne is a montfleury and in the movie she is does astronomy. The Roxanne in the book marries Christian but the Roxanne in the movie does not marry Christian.

The next person i want to talk about is De Guiche in the book he is a general in the war and has long hair and sends Cyrano and Christian off to war because Roxanne marries Christian.
There is no De Guiche in the movie.
In the book Christian came to help the cadets in war but in the book he came to help train the cadets to be firefighters. In the book he has long hair and in the movie he has short hair,in the book he marries Roxanne but in the book he does not marry her, he dies in war in the book but in the movie he doesn't die he just runs away with another girl.
There is a lot of things different about the book and the movie the book is placed in Paris, France,in 1640/1655 and the movie is placed in Nelson Washington, 1987. Then how they end in the book christen dies and Roxane becomes a widow and Cyrano tells her the news every saturday and one day some people set him up and dropped a log on his head and went to Roxane and talked to her than died from the log. Where in the movie Christian does not die and C.D and Roxanne fall in
love. My favorite ending is the movies ending because nobody dies and they both get a girl where in the book they both die and do not get the girl. My favorite part in the book is when Cyrano calls De Guiche a coward because he took off his scarf so the enemies would not kill him for being a general how he did it was he found the scarf and bought it with him and when De Guiche was talking about him escaping from the enemies he pulled it out. My favorite part in the movie is when the cadets could not start the fire to practice putting fires out.
There are few similarities between the book and the movie. Usually most movies are similar to
The book, Cyrano de Bergerac and the movie, Roxanne have many similarities and differences. This includes the plot, characterization, setting, conflict, and irony.
The movie switches the roles of the cyclopes and the hero so that the movie has its own version of this event and so its not exactly like The Oddyssey. Everett and his crew also face a version of the Seirenes. The movie introduces the Seirenes when Pete gets out of the car because he hears this beautiful song that he cannot resist. are very similar, but the movie portrays the book in a unique, interesting way. The movie has most of the characters the book has, but some of the characters do their part in a different way in the movie, that is what makes this new way of the book interesting.
In the movie dwayne plays a good part. Dwayne was the guys that stuck up for them even though people did not like their documentary. Dwayne did get shot although that did not happen in the book. Another difference most of the characters that were in the book looked way younger that what the picture said that they looked like in the book. The book did not tell us that Lloyd liked to gamble. Lloyd gambled and almost got shot in the movie. In the movie Lloyd was like the bad guy in the movie, the movie told only bad things about Lloyd and only good things about LeAlan. Another difference in the movie is that the boys who threw Eric Morse out the window were sentenced to Juvenile Detention Center till the age of twenty-one. This is a big part because they never told what the verdict was which made it seem like they were let free from what they did. The last difference is in the movie the vacant apartment that in the book said that it looked creepy and run down it looked really nice in the apartment and I did not really understand why no one lived there.
While watching the movie, I could see that the main characters in the book, both their names and traits, were the same in both the movie and book. However, aside from that there were many different as...
The movie and the story had some of the same characters but some weren't exactly the same. The movie introduced many different characters and changed some of the others. For example, the movie had the plant lady and had the mentor of Anderton as the founders of Precrime while in the book, Anderton was the only founder of Precrime. Also, Witwer wasn't blond he had black hair and Kapler wasn't named Kapler he was named Crow. In the story they had the red head Fleming who did not exist
Cyrano is a very intelligent, noble, skillful swordsman who is full of knowledge and creativity to allow him to write his writings. Cyrano shows loving character because he delivers a letter to Roxane every day, of his own feelings and helpful when helping Christian and his struggles with Roxane. Cyrano is also brave and ambitious because he is not afraid of any challenge that awaits him.
In both the novel and movie focus on the war. The war influences the characters to enroll. Also, the main setting is at the Devon School. However, in the novel Gene visits Leper at his house but in the movie Leper lives in the woods. In the novel Gene is coming back to the Devon School 15 years later. However, in the book he is coming to Devon as a new student. Therefore, similarities and differences exist in time and setting in the novel and the movie. In the novel and the movie there are similarities and differences in events, character, and time and setting.
There were many differences in the characters' relationships with each other. For instance, Heather and Melinda’s connection were very different from book to film.
In the book the husband was the one who grabbed the black dot paper. And then his whole family had to choose one. His wife ended up being the one who had to be sacrificed. In the movie the husband was at home because he had a broken leg, so his wife was the one who had to choose for him, and ended up with the black dotted one. So her and her daughter both had to draw to see who would be sacrificed. The mom was the one who ended up having to be stoned. Therefore that was a big
Overall, the movie and book have many differences and similarities, some more important than others. The story still is clear without many scenes from the book, but the movie would have more thought in it.
On the other hand, someone in Cyrano’s position in the present would not have necessarily kept his secret for that long. Eventually, someone would probably approach the person that they were in love with and declare their love. Just as Charlie in the movie, the equivalent of Cyrano in the play, was about to tell Roxane that it was him who wrote the letters illustrating his love for her with his alluring and sincere words, before she had found out for herself. For this reason, the majority of people today would like the movie more than the play. Aside from the obvious fact that the play was set in a sophisticated, more actively virtuous, and far less technologically-advanced period of time than the movie’s present time, is the distinct contrast of the two versions’ endings....
Cyrano De Bergerac is an inspiring play based on a tragic love. The characters are revealed within unique backgrounds, creating life and depth between our imaginations. There are a variety of important characters throughout the play besides Cyrano De Bergerac. The play consists of more important characters than Christian De Neuvillette, although he is the most admirable. Three admirable qualities that Christian possessed are courtesy, modesty and bravery.
Each version also has the main characters boarding up the windows. Anyone who thought the birds won’t attack are usually found dead, but in the movie they are found with their eyes pecked out. Also, both the story and the movie have REALLY bad endings! They aren’t very similar, but they both leave you hanging. When you see a movie or read a book you want to know what happens to the main characters. In these two, you didn’t get an ending. They left you hanging and for some people that ruins it all.
A man who knows every thing, has never ending wit and charm, and has a way with words like none other, but is still to horrid to convey his true feelings to a beautiful woman. This poor but yet amazing man is Cyrano from the play "Cyrano De Bergerac" by Edmond Rostand. This man has more intellect than sand in a desert and is the most courageous Gascon of all. Yet he has one tragic physical flaw. He has an enormous nose, of which he is very self conscious about and only he can talk about it. If any one else has anything to say about it the better say something very witty or there done for. All of this is portrayed in one of Cyrano's speeches on page 40-41. The speech reveals how clever and smart he is when he says things like "what a sign for a perfume shop" (41) and "Is that a conch, and are you Triton rising from the sea?"(41).
